It is splendid to see college students doing their best to perform live theater. After watching a television series, Versailles, it was fun to imagine Tartuffe being first banned, edited, then performed there for Louis XIV. The ending alluded to the godlike wisdom of the king to see the false piety of our play’s star performer. (Put an extra spin on it for us.) Delivered in rhyming couplets, my wife and I were happy we were not tasked with memorizing this 17th Century script.I enjoying seeing people try their best at most anything—it’s like the Olympics, except it was only $15 per ticket, and it was on the grounds of Wake Forest U, Winston Salem, NCIt was a small, comfortable venue.
