I spent a weekend with like minded 18th century living historians. Think Rev War and Georgian era. The guided tour given by staff at the center was top notch and explained some of the founding of Salem and the Why did the Moravian church buy the County!?!.Our weekend was a private sanctioned event and we tried to be accurate. (No we didnt dig trenches) but observed masks and social distancing also requiring All disposable eating equipment. But it didnt detract from the overall experience of learning details, of life, clothing, stations in life, certain manners (and Lack of) and skills one could take away to reexamine.

Quiet place to walk except traffic on single lane road where vehicles must yield to each other one at a time. Every landmark clearly marked with plaques. Visitor Ctr still closed:( Make sure to walk thru fort and cross the creek bridge & walk up hill to GODS ACRE CEMETARY:):)

Nice little park with some old 1600-1700 are cellars still in place. There are also a few buildings and a reproduction of the old fort. Just be careful of the road that cuts through the park. There is a speed limit, but few seem to heed the posted signage.

One of my favorite spots in Winston-Salem. They have an amazing state park, historic settlement, old foundations, a fort, restored homes and ️ buildings, and an informative visitors center where you can learn how these early settlers lived and worked in the late 1700s. The staff are great and they even have festivals with vendors and renactments that help the place come alive.

Bethabara is a great place to learn local history. The foundations still stand for many of the structures built in the 1700s and there are also several buildings in place. There are walking trails. Bethabara hosts many free events, including Dark in the Park, Apple Fest, and evening music series with live music.

What an amazing place! Full of history and nature. There is something for everyone. The freedom to explore such historical sites is an awesome gift to the community. The festivals raise the bar. Everything comes alive with art, music, vendors, and food! There is always such a varied collection of people coming together. A perfect venue for families with children of all ages. I just cant say enough! Go out and enjoy the local things that are out there for you to explore!

This place was wonderful! It was the perfect place for a toddler and 4 adults to run around, get out energy and be entertained. The Water Works area lets them splash around and was easily my daughters favorite. They even have a large section for kids 2 & younger so theyre protected from the big kids. Such a great price for the amount of activities and free play that they offer.

We came here during the Apple festival and had so much fun going into the houses and learning about what life what like back then. They had clothes, some kids toys, and spinning wheels to give you an idea of what it may have looked like back then. We also sat in the church and listened to a guy play a wooden instrument (cant remember the name) and they played the old organ for us too, really beautiful. Cant wait to come back!

This is always a must visit place in Winston-Salem, NC. Its kind of hidden so I think a lot of people dont even know this is here. Here you visit and see how these Moravian settlers lived, and what theyre buildings looked like. If Im not mistaken, this was back sometime in the 1700s, I think. Some of the buildings from then are even still standing. But a lot of them just have the foundations left. But its so interesting! They also have a visitor center, where you can learn even more about how these folks lived back then, and they also have little gifts you can buy! I love this place!

I was not there for the attractions, but I was still able to walk through the area while I was doing my job within that area. I talked to the up keeper there for probably 30 minutes and he shared some of the history there. Its a pretty nice well kept up place to visit if you have some free time, especially if you are from this city and want to learn more of the history to it.

We stumbled upon Bethabara Park by accident, and are so glad we did. My mother and I walked round this park for over an hour in almost 100° heat, just because it was so fascinating. It is a couple hours from where we live, but we intend to go back and spend the day! There are little plaques all around the property explaining what each building was and what each section of the fort was used for. If youre a fan of history, check out Bethabara Park.

The atmosphere of the park is very tranquil. We hid under a hut when it started raining, and came out after to walk around the wet gardens and peek inside the Sleeping Hall. Theres a barn with a description of various tools used for farming and whatnot, and an old church that you can have a tour through for $4.

Its a nice park. You get to walk around outdoors on the self guided tour, which takes you by the various archaeological sites. Every site has a little informational plaque and these are where the park shines. The little tidbits of information I found pretty interesting, especially as someone new to the area who didnt know its history. You cant go into all of the buildings during all hours, so most of what I saw was outdoors, but still, its cool to see the foundations of colonial buildings and imagine what it was like living here, which is easy with the anecdotes from the signs.
