Great little park. Perfect for a run after work. Cleanest bathrooms I have seen just about anywhere. Bothers me that so many people park on the road. Im sure some have legitimate reasons but, come on, pay the fee! Support your parks!

Be ready for a climb. Overall nice shady trails and some that are more open. Lots of different options. A good amount of street parking if you dont have a parking pass. Some picnic areas at the front and bathrooms.

Lively with slight hills. Small trails. The trail we went on is shady the whole way with little traffic. Theres a place for horses as well, but unfortunately the horses poop on the narrow trails. We walked to a cute pond.

One of our favorite hiking places in Sonoma County. It can be challenging or more laid back, its your choice. We like the steep hills that make us breathe hard, and give our legs a great workout. Plenty of shade and the views are phenomenal.

Good elevation changes with a few different trails or you can take the gently rolling trail toward the pond. Due to the fires & excess rain some of the trailway is closed but you can still get good mileage in for a trail thats pretty close to Santa Rosa. Be careful of your steps though since it is a shared trail with horses.

This is a park that is coming back from devastating fires. Has great views and is well maintained.Bathrooms having flushing water and working sinks. There’s a bocce ball court and tons of parking both in and outside of the gates. Loses a star because of the hills I had to run.

Beautiful and no dogs. Steep trails keep some of the more casual hikers away so you can still find some seclusion. Also, no dogs means more wildlife.

Beautiful hiking park. The trails are challenging and breathtaking. Ive been hiking here for almost 20 years and never get tired of it. Most of the trails are great for a leisurely hike that will keep your heart rate up. Plenty of benches to rest and well marked trails. Bring water and a snack. Its a warm hike on a sunny day. Some of the trails are currently (April 2019) closed due to damage from the 2017 fires and heavy rain that followed. Still possible to get in a 3+/- mile hike. Less than 1/2 mile is stroller friendly in the entire park. If you have a little one, plan on baby wearing and using trekking poles for stability. You wont be disappointed. Bonus of clean bathrooms with running water at the parking lot.For non-hikers, there is a picnic area and bocce ball court adjacent to the parking lot.

This is a great outdoor resource for Sonoma County. The trails are excellent as is the scenery. There are excellent views and it provides habitat for numerous species. Unfortunately, there is one trail that has not yet been built. Apparently a bridge needs to be constructed. Also, Its unfortunate that we cant hike here after dark. During the winter months, it would be great to hike here after work, but its already dark. However, those issues do not detract from the fact that this is a beautiful area of Sonoma County where we can get exercise and go to the mountains to get good tidings as John Muir said.

Gorgeous oak woodland with some casual (mostly flat) trails and some steep ones up into the hills. The picnic area at the base isnt too impressive but the whole park is a great example of the kind of oak habitats in this region as well as a great example as to what happens to such habitats as they recover from large scale fire damage. There are even a few placards placed along some of the trails describing some of the details of what the fire did and whats happening now. I thank the park rangers/staff/habitat restoration people for taking the time and effort to do that. At the time of writing this, there are a couple areas of main trails still blocked for repair, but most of the park is still perfectly accessible.

I like that there is a no dog policy. The only land mines you have to look out for are from horses. Also. Not stroller friendly(which I like) no no slow people and strollers blocking the trail. This makes for a more relaxing home as dog people and those with strollers avoid it. Thank goodness!!

Decades ago, I would ride my mountain bike through Big Leaf Trail I would ride as fast as I could push the bike, but then some simpleton pedestrian, complains to some big wig and then suddenly there are a bunch of Cobblestone rocks at the end of the speed slope. Barely making it out of that with my life, that concluded the time my father and I spent time together on Shiloh Mountain.
