It was good. We got to pet Bella the snake that was cool. My grandson liked all the buttons to push. He may have touched every one of them in the place. The concierge went around wiping everything down. Great Job!
With everything closed for so long we were happy to find the Imagination Station open. There are 3 floors open, each level had a different theme. We enjoyed the reptiles the most because of the excellent impromptu presentation from their handler/longtime caretaker. Most of our stars go to him and the scaly critters!!!
Hidden little gem. Ive loved going here ever since I was a kid, then I took my daycare kids there. Now Im taking my own kids and they love it so much! The favorites are racing the animals, seeing Jimmy the huge snake, and playing in the toddler area with my one year old. Go, but dont expect a lot. Just relax and let the kids unwind and have fun. Its not as busy and chaotic as some other places, which is a welcomed change for me.
Pretty good. Quite a few interactive exhibits. Good fun for your dollar.
Terrific place for adultsAnd especially for kids totour and be hands onwith numerous exhibitswhile learning about creatures +science+ maybe a little history as well
Located in downtown Wilson...This is a wonderful place to visit whether Very Young or much older ! An intriguing museum of science with many hands on exhibits for kings+adults. A you should go place
Small place. Affordable. Nice people. Good place to spend an hour or so on a lazy day. I like that they usually have some activities for the kids to enjoy and they let the grown ups join in.
The see-through beehive was the best. Wilson is trying very hard to be interesting. Its doing well considering the circumstances.
Its a great place to see some reptiles, olden days carpentry tools, and get some cool trivia about human body. The race track is good to check our speed with that of fast and slow animals. Good time spent there!
It is not an extravagant childrens museum but the history alone was worth the drive. The staff is extremely helpful and Brooke was so informative and willing to answer any questions my children had. It will be a pleasure returning when we head back to NC!!
Great museum. Has climbing wall. Some exercise equipment. Art area and area for small children with blocks.
Im giving this a five star even though the air conditioning went out and we had to reschedule. So why a five star you ask because the people and place are worth it. Pay them a visit
A great stop to let the kids run around and play regardless of age. Has a toddler room which is great for that age and crawlers.
Great for kids. I enjoyed it myself
Exercise room was great, if I had come to exercise. Not as much educational stuff as I had hoped to see with my little ones. There was a little play room for kids, but it was dated. Lots of reptiles but little info on their habitats. Could use a nice makeover. Space was great. The old building had lots of character. My favorite part was the old courtroom. Could be fixed up and very educational for kids. No discount for multiple people visiting. $5 per person.
A fun place to visit in downtown Wilson. Great exhibits and reptile room. Fun place for a birthday party too. A great place to spend a couple of hours!
Love this place! It puts a smile on my daughters face every time I bring her there. Plus the staff is always great and very helpful. Keep up the good work!
Perfect i95 stop for kids. We stopped in torential downpour and played for over an hour. The exercise stuff on the first floor was great for our 7 and 9 year old and the playroom upstairs was great for our 8 month old
Great place to visit. Kids would love.
This place is awesome. The staff is awesome as well. My kids and I love it.
I love this museum, the love of this museum is the love that you see in a movie of an old movie theater in town that the citizens want to keep alive but theyre finding it harder and harder to do so. It is a staple of downtown but it also lacks in rotating exhibits to make you want to go back more than once per year or so. They do try. The building is beautiful.
I was very disappointed. The large globe was not working. Most of the things in the exercise room were too big for the 4 year old. The second floor play room was too young for the 9 year old. They only had 2 floors open. Not worth 25 dollars for the 5 of us. Will not go back. Will not recommend it.
Took my daughter here and she had a blast! Great place for kids with a ton of energy.
I loved going here! The first floor had an exercise room qnd
Nice activities for young children just not enough of them. wish the reptiles had bigger accommodations especially the big boa constrictor, he could not stretch his muscles if he had to. the big turtles acted as if they wanted to escape from all the childrens loud screaming voices. you could literally just reach down and touch its shell. Im sure theyve been teased by someone. but most of the cages and boxes were fairly clean. all in all its a good not for profit activity for a few hours for just $5. under 2 is free
I live in Wilson and have visited Imagination Station several times. My grandchildren were visiting from Raleigh because of being tracked out of school. We decided to give the Imagination Station another try since our last visit 3 years ago was disappointing. We arrived to an almost empty museum, which I expected since the students here are in school. The girls were very excited to race the animals on the exhibit their dad had told them about. It was not working on our last visit and imagine the disappointment when it was not working again on this visit. The rock climbing attraction was closed because there was no staff to assist them with getting harnessed. There was an art exhibit on the third floor with creepy (description by 8 and 10 year olds)pictures. The 3 year old got in free and she should since there was nothing appropriate for her age except seeing a few lizards, snakes and turtles. I hope that maybe Wilson will invest in improving this facility in the future. It has so much potential! Wish I could be more positive.
Love the exhibit on NC cemeteries, and theres so many great animals.
This place could use some love theres no doubt about that. From an adults eyes there is lots of renovation and updating that could be done BUT my son loves it and lets be honest - thats who this place is for. We went for their most recent first Friday event with Sylvan Heights. My nearly three year old LOVED this FREE event and Im sure he will be asking to return. He pet a duck and chicks, made bird food, tested different beaks(tools) for picking up food, checked out feathers and got to ask some questions. We were also able to explore the rest of the imagination station - he loved the rock climbing walls, racing against different animals and we spent a loooong time upstairs checking out the reptiles. He got to pet various snakes, lizards and a tortoise. We were able to watch an alligator and turtles swim around in their enclosures. It was truly a very fun time and we look forward to participating in more events. The third floor had some looks and information on them which wasnt a great place for me to entertain him but probably would be really interested for kids a little older (in fact the whole thing wouldve been great for older kids).
The kids had so much fun. I remember when I visited this place as a child.
Old post office converted to a museum. My 8 year old son liked it. Not much to see. Price of $5 is right but adults should be free. Animals are just snakes and lizards. Honey bee exhibit is cool. Rotating exhibit on 3rd floor.
We really enjoyed this with the kids.
Interactive and informative stations for mind and body. Friendly toward all ages
Great place for people of all ages!
A science museum committed to educate both children and adults about science and history. Make sure to see the upstairs that has Jimmy, the 10 foot live python and more surprises you will have to find out yourself. Ask them about their honey bees. My pictures are only from the ground floor. You have to go to see the rest.
Always a enjoyable moment when I visit with my job. Its always fun to see what they had added new.
Kids had great time wish there was more to see
Had some excersise equipment on the 1st floor, a few snakes and lizards on the 2nd floor and the 3rd floor was closed. Pretty cool place if you only need to kill 10 minutes and waste $5 per person
Great experience for young children
Our group had an enjoyable day at the Imagination Station! They really enjoyed the hands on activities located on the first floor as well as the reptile exhibits on the second floor. The accommodations and staff were great as well! Very educational and fun!
IT WAS HORRIBLE. I drove over an hour to take my children to this museum and it was the worst thing I have ever experienced. There were hardly any exhibits. The only cool thing they did was take out one turtle. It was EXTREMELY HOT!!! NO air conditioner anywhere in the building. The lady at the front desk had a fan you would think that they would want to do the same for their customers. My daughter has asthma and we had to deal with a asthma attack because it was so hot. Even my 7 year old told my husband that it was the worst place she had ever been. I will NEVER waste my money again on such a horrible place.
Great place to spend the day while in Wilson. Dont forget about the Whirligig Park!
We love the Imagination Station. Great place to get out of the blaring sun of summer or bitter cold of winter. Well spent time and money!!!
Imagination Station is amazing! Thanks for bringing your knowledge to our schools! Our children loved all of the programs! We learned so much! You have much to offer! Thank you!
Took the kids and they had a really good time..the exhibits were entertaining and interesting and we had the chance to visit every floor to see what the museum had to offer. Im not from Wilson but we travel around Eastern NC looking for museums that we never visited and we really really enjoyed the time we had when we visited the Imagination Station in Wilson, NC
Great place to spend some time
Not quite what was expecting. Not a bad place, but did take imagination to make fully worthwhile. As with anything, it is what you make it.
Kids had fun here. Full visit is less than 2 hours.
Had so much fun. Wasnt crowded so we got to play with everything.
Very educational for all ages
Children Museum but not a lot to do there..
Relatively unbusy, almost alone large chunks of time. Some exhibits run down. May be a bummer for older kids, but great for young explorering minds. Worth the $5 entry. 3 floors of exhibits. Interative stations. Spent 4 hours and could have let the kids play longer. Rock climbing wall, that even I could try.
Just drove two hours to be here and they have a piece of paper on the door saying they are closed July 17-18. Let me ask, is this type of information or what your WEBSITE IS FOR???? Why would you handle this in this manner. Absolutely terrible.
Science museum no longer exists says someday well be in art studio!!!!!!
Lots of interactive things for children to do.
There is plenty of opportunity for all sorts of movement. Kids really enjoy the different thinhs there are to do.
Very nice staff. Great for children of all ages.
For what its worth it was a good experience for the kids! I wish there were a few more things to do but the staff were super helpful and friendly which made it much better
Very nice childrens museum. I would recommend it to anyone.
It was an awesome live experience. We had a blast!!!
Had a great time with my grandson...we had fun while learning something new!
Its a good place to take your children if you just out and about in the city.
This is a good place for kids to go to learn about scientific facts and historic events
Small but nice.
Great place to take kids. My only criticism was a lack of direction to the elevator from the first floor.
My sons special needs class visited this place and they absolutely had fun .. they got to play and have a animal learning show ... The staff here is kind and energetic ... Small museum full of fun and play along with all hands one learning ... Will be returning ... Entering prices extremely reasonable and they offer special show events and change in displays regularly for new learning fun...
Perfect place for young children to really have a hands on experience with science! Our 5 yr old daughter loved it!
This place has exotic animals, fitness, and history all in one. I am a picky child and I dont like a lot of learning places except for this one.
It use to have more exhibits and fun things for kids, but not a lot now!! Still love to visit there!!
We are a school age summer program and we took our 13 students, ages 6-11, to Imagination Station. We signed up for the whoos food presentation. When we arrived, we were quickly checked in and given a rundown of where we could find everything. We spent the first part in the upper room learning about the food chain with our awesome guide, our kids loved learning about the food webs and were kept enagaged and entertained. They disected owl pellets and had a fantastic time. After, we explored the animal floor, the kids enjoyed the many varities of snakes, lizards, and turtles. They especially enjoyed the 15 ft. Python! The upper floor was being used for a class, just as well, since it was all paintings, probably wouldnt hold their interest very long. Their favorite part was definitely the first floor, in the Body-ology exhibit with interactive exercise equipment, A rock wall, a race the wild game, and many more things to do!! The other part of the museum seems unfinished right now, but they were able to enjoy the kalidescope, the giant scale, and the head on a platter illusion. The focal point of the room, A huge computer interactive globe, lets the kids explore different weather patterns, and even different planets. What I liked most was the interactive displays, it wants just standing around looking at things which with small children gets boring pretty quick. I also liked that it wasnt overly bright, noisy, or crowded, as we had a child with Autism in our group, he was able to participate and enjoy himself as well.We didnt get much of a chance to explore the gift shop, but its got a decent variety, and about as reasonably priced a gift shop I have seen. Im giving 4 stars but only because of the unfinshed exhibits, and parking was pretty difficult, we had a large van and getting in and out was a little challenging. Otherwise, we absolutely enjoyed ourselves, and we will definitely add this to put list of must do trips for next summer!!
Great place to take 8 to 12 year olds.
Friendly staff. Nice attractions
Kids lost interest quickly. Animals not treated kindly, in my opinion.
Great place to bring kids to learn and have fun.
Great place for kids!
Great place for kids and adults.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Good prices.
Interesting attractions
Theyre doing the best they can with inadequate funding.
Very neat place for kids to go and learn!
Its in the name of SCIENCE
Food was delicious and fresh!
Good, but a little small
Lots of fun
Loved the weather exhibit
Was fun, compared to what else there is to do in Wilson NC this was good.
Great, attraction for children and their families
Fun
Kids loved it
Not what I expected.
