Recently had a lovely hour and a half tour of this unique museum. We had 8 in our party, ages ranging from 20 to 83. We all were masked, as was the docent. We were there late in the afternoon, so we were the only ones in the museum. Would definitely recommend to anyone who has an interest in old musical pieces and the history of musicians from Virginia. Price was very reasonable. A wonderful way to enjoy an afternoon in a very safe and fun-filled, yet educational environment.
We were fortunate enough to tour the museum with the proprietor Buddy Parker. Buddy and his wife Peggy have amassed a neat collection of Musical instruments, Jukeboxes, Music Boxes and memorabilia. One of the highlights is a car that was owned by Virginia’s own Wayne Newton. You can see the passion that they have for musical artifacts and the rich history of music in Virginia. Whether you have a small amount of time or a good bit of time any time you invest in this wonderful museum is quite worth it in my opinion!
This place was amazing!! My family and I decided to go here and I have to admit we were a little sceptical at first. The building doesnt look that big and the owner also has a large piano store in front of the museum. We paid for the tickets and were told we were in luck because the owner was at the location and would probably be around to talk to us. We had just started looking around and the owner came in and introduced himself. He was a very nice person. You could tell he took a lot of pride in his pieces and was very happy and enthusiastic to explain some history behind them and the best part he liked to play them for you! We loved hearing the Nickelodeons play and the giant music boxes. There were so many interesting pieces that I had never seen or heard before. The self playing organ on the second floor was fantastic! If youre at all interested in music do not pass this place up!
Great place to visit. The guided tours are the best! Lots of good history in our time!
Great place to go to see something different. Many unique instruments and various music boxes. There is history on the local musicians over the years. The only negative is the admission fee. $12.00 is high for some people. I almost left but I could afford the $24.00 for my wife and I. I was glad I spent the money.
Fantastic little find. Super friendly folks that genuinely enjoy telling guests about their pieces. Highly recommended if you are a fan of music history.
Great museum.
We loved the two hours spent at this fascinating museum. The first room had various types of amazing antique music boxes and a pipe organ all of which could be heard via recording. Each following room was beautifully laid out with all types of memorabilia from stage outfits of famous entertainers from Virginia to instruments dating back centuries to a 1950s roadster and so very much more. The Curator was so knowledgeable and helpful showing us various things and then allowing us our own time to browse through the rooms at our own pace.
Interesting place about pianos and local Virgina musicians.
A hidden gem, a museum dedicated to Virginians involved with the music industry. Located in the back of a local Piano store, brings those unusual musical instruments to the public. We spent 2 hours walking through this museum, and enjoyed every minute.
This an outstanding collection & presentation. Well worth the trip & time to explore it. A must see!!!
Fascinating eclectic museum with a very knowledgeable curator. A must see one of a kind museum!
Not to be missed! It looks small from the outside, but it isnt. Several rooms of fascinating displays, well worth the low price of admission.
A wonderful experience!
Hidden in Williamsburg, this unique museum is more than meets the eye; Nestled in the back of a piano shop, this museum has musical artifacts from all around Virginia including a giraffe piano, creepy dolls and even a classic car! The space itself is not massive, there are only a few rooms, but they are all packed with stuff, microphones, instruments and other very interesting things. Although it is not considered one of Williamsburgs main attractions, its definitely worth the visit!
If you are interested by music history or vintage instruments, you should definitely come here.
Closed and waste of time
A little gem
