Attended the World Premiere of God Save the Wings. Historic theatre to relive the history of Wichita Wings Professional Soccer. I almost didnt go for fear of trying to park & walk in downtown Wichita. We found a spot just few blocks away. Then a short, brisk walk & we were there. No long lines. Because it was a middle age, mature crowd we needed better lighting & signage to know where to go. Saw 3 different people tumble down the stairs, poor lighting. Immediately those around the person helped out. I wouldnt mind a brief education on The Orpheum Theatre before any show or event. Get customers interested in the ongoing preservation of the bldg. I didnt realize the scope of events, shows @ the Orpheum. Eager to return, highly recommend to others.
This place is seriously run down. It has cracks in the walls and ceiling, the chairs are very, very old and slant forward. You literally feel like you might be tossed from your seat. Thats being said, it is ran by volunteers, and everyone was very pleasant. The show I was at was sold out, and it was just way too crowded.
Very fun, great atmosphere. The place is very dated, but that could be the look theyre going for. Any way you look at it, its a fun place to take in a show. The area around the auditorium is like stepping back in time.
We have an annual date to watch GRIDIRON which is a benefit for journalism scholarships. We enjoy the historic facility at the Orpheum. The staff and volunteers always make us feel very welcome. The womens omfort station is gorgeous. The renovation work makes me realize what a grand lady the Orpheum was years ago. Lets keep up the preservation. Its a wonderful piece of Wichita history.Sharing popcorn & an adult beverage while we laugh our heads off at the satire skits is so much fun!
This is the best place for up close and personal contact with the performers! The atmosphere is beautiful and the people who set up the entertainment here are very nice! One of the best Entertainment places in Wichita, Kansas!
Tonight was my first experience at The Orpheum Theatre. We saw Ryan Bingham. Great show!! It was a really cool venue and the sound was amazing. However, the best part of my experience was the staff. I am in a wheelchair and every one of the staff went out of their way to make sure I was able to get to my seat, the ADA accessible bathroom, the bar, everything. Thank you for making this a great night for my husband and I.
Saw #MST3KLIVE last night. So much fun. Orpheum staff and volunteers are all very friendly and helpful. Cant wait until they get some newer seating though. Projected movie was easy to see, nice and bright. Sound system is good.
Old style theatre. Lots of seating. Drinks and food are normal price. Neat looking inside. Decently clean. Nice staff!
The ambience is terrific. And the overall size makes it feel more intimate with the performer. However, the seats are not the best. Its not so much the seat itself, but the placement. Theres no leg room because the seats are so close to the row in front. If new seats are not an option, maybe reconfiguring the seats would be a good compromise. I feel bad for people who are larger or have any sort of disability. This was my first visit to the Orpheum and I would definitely visit again. Thank you!
Great concert, friendly and helpful staff, very clean. Still working on renovations. Very nice and elegant
I had a great time. The program was excellent, the bathroom spacious enough to accommodate the ladies during the intermission although I did notice a line outside the gents. The seats are smaller than your average movie theater so plan accordingly. Concessions are somewhat limited but they do have alcohol
Had seats in the balcony for a live stage show. View of the stage was very good. The seats and cushions are in poor condition, and have very little leg room. Two plus hours and I had to keep changing my seating position. The theatre has retained many of the original interior features from when it was built in 1922.
My favorite place to catch a concert- very close and intimate. Great Feel and beautiful architecture
I love coming to see this place. The architectural design is mind boggling, not to mention historic. Still has lots of restoration work to be done but, its coming along. The shows are great too!
Ive seen several shows and what a treat this building is. Being a sturdier gal, the seats are smaller but thats really more my problem, but Ive heard that from a few people. Ive seen legendary acts that have blown my mind, like when Elvis Costello unplugged and sang to the rafters all alone at the end of the stage. Beautiful, historic, the place is a real treat and the people who work there are great.
My favorite place in Wichita for live performances!
The Orpheum is a cool old school theater! Intimate enough that all seats are good. Im often impressed at the caliber of acts they are able to get in there.
Super cool theatre and great ambiance. Friendly staff and super neat architecture. A nice place of Wichita history to visit.
Went here for the Sebastian Maniscalco show. The theatre is a wonderful old theatre with a ton of history. Its a beautiful place. Great venue for an awesome comedian like Sebastian.
Fun to visit and see a premier of a movie. Hope they keep restoring.
Staff was courteous and friendly. Our seats were in a great location for Whos Live is it Anyway. The actual seats are terrible. They are incredibly uncomfortable.
Sadly this historic and iconic Wichita landmark is falling into such a great disrepair. I am always taken aback by how gorgeous the interior could be and love the feel of the history that it represents. However, it is falling apart, the seats are so uncomfortable and it has a layer and f filth that covers everything. I want to love it.
Great concert, friendly staff (volunteers), historic, fancy bathrooms (seriously, check them out).
Great atmosphere. Fantastic volunteers. Great acoustics. Seeing Bands Ive never seen as well as comedians.
Very intimate my wife and I enjoyed our night here.
A unique historic venue with a long and rich history. Always a fun time!
This is a historic theater still raising funds for restoration. Something to keep in mind when attending events here. The snack bar is in a very small foyer so it is maneuver through the crowd to get to the theater. The restrooms are on the 2nd floor. I do appreciate the beauty of this 100+year old theatre and hope they can raise funds soon to finish the restoration.Did enjoy getting to see John Cusack at my last event I attended there. On a fun note, my great grandpa saw Houdini perform there. A theatre with a great history.
Historic and beautiful! Friendly staff. Seating is pretty rough and will hopefully replaced eventually.
Excellent acoustics. Just wish seats had more padding.
Unique felt like an old church, amazing sound for a concert, great views of the stage
Love this old theatre. Sounds awesome.Another great show.
A beautiful old theater. Sound is wonderful but prices can get a bit steep.
Took my 2 year old to see Peppa Pig. He loved it!
Great but need to make it more convenient to get to the bathrooms
Love this theater. Hope to see more shows here.
Love going to all kinds of shows here. Live performances and movies.
Very beautiful theater but very uncomfortable seats. Acoustics were great also.
Its a great place and has a lot of history in Wichita.
They had a sing-along version of The Greatest Showman and it was FABULOUS!!
Other than climbing stairs to use the restroom this is a great old facility. The theater has a close up and personal feeling. They bring in class acts like Chonda Pierce. She was very funny and well worth the ticket price.
A very old feel theater. Takes you back to the days of the dinosaur. Creepy but cool.
The accoustics are amazing. The staff is exceptional. Saw Need To Breath. Great show. Building does some Reno work to really show its beauty. View from upper balcony is not that great and seating is horrible if you are over 5 ft tall. Balcony area is not conducive to seniors or people with any kind if disabilities. If I cant get main floor seating then probably wont attend any more events there.
Great place, accoustics perfect for any entertainment. Great old theater.
Great venue, very annoying woman bartender making the experience unworthy. Tried ordering a drink from one bartender but she was yelling over us both causing the drinks to be made wrong twice. If it’s not your direct customer, please refrain from screaming at others. Shout out to the bartender actually making my drinks/trying to hear.
Could really use better floor seating, but the parking is wonderful for Down town
This is a historical building in Wichita KS. Besides the Theatre in the building, there are office suites. We visited an office, but there are awesome architectural details in and on the building.
Went to see a movie with my family. It was a fun time. The parking could be better. The seats need to be updated. Before the movie was half over I wanted to leave. But it was a good time, clean, and we got inside with hardly any waiting. It got a little congested at the concession stand and people coming in to the theater, but other than that a nice place to be.
They just dont make them like this anymore. The theater most have been spectacular to see in its prime. Once the inside is restored, oh my, this will be a Jewel in Downtown Wichita.
It was awesome! Will definitely come back again!
We always love coming here. Such a great variety of movies, shows and concerts.
Seats in the balcony are too close together. You are almost sitting on top of your neighbor. It was too hot inside and they wont install an elevator for those who have trouble with stairs. I enjoyed the show but not the venue.
A true treasure. Fun and entertainibg
The overall experience of the show was great. The only complaint is that the seats where super close together. Other than that concession where every cheap. Like a large soda is only $3. Very cheap. Cheaper than going to the movie theater.
Very fancy place. Be careful going down to the seats are unstable
The Orpheum is so cool...but the seats suck. I cannot wait for the renovation, once the seats have been updated Ill be buying tickets to all the shows and events there. Right now I mostly keep to Tallgrass Film Festival. This building is an icon of Wichita we need to renovate and preserve.
Perfect for the rocket horror picture show !
Such a great place to visit. Love the events there. They had an open bar & pizza which was perfect for our girls night out!
Great show, great atmosphere, great volunteer employees, parking was fine, had a lot of fun.
Beautiful old theater that is well maintained. Always a pleasure to attend a show here.
Love the entertainment. Love the old, historic ambiance of the theater. However I hate absolutely hate the old seating. The chairs pretty much youre sitting on a bar on the back so its like your tailbone is on a bar there are the most uncomfortable seats in Wichita.
Great performance and friendly, helpful Ushers, beautiful Theatre!!!
Historic opulence is the first thing you notice. You will have a grand time in this grand theater. The seats could be softer, and leg room in balcony seats is a little minimal . But everything else is grand.
Saw the Greatest Showman. Very good!!
Watched the interactive national lampoons Christmas vacation LOVED IT the only complaint is the seats were too small and felt crowded
Very nice old theatre slowly being refurbished as the budget allows. Local performaners and traveling shows both use this facility.Bathrooms upstairs are stunning and modern. Dressing rooms downstairs are spacious and well lit, be aware of very steep stairs to stage area though (watch your step). Seats downstairs recline slightly and have leg room. Seats upstairs are very tight knee to back and again stairs are steep getting to you seat. If you a bigger person you may want to avoid the balcony seating for comfort reasons. Street parking available with meters, a small lot is behind the theater but it fills fast.
A beautiful vintage theater.
Comfy seats. Gorgeous. Very well restored. Clean, lavish restrooms.
Went to see Paula Poundstone, great show. The only complaint I have on the theater restoration is that it is proceeding so slowly.Wish they would put in new seating with wider more comfortable seats.
Historical n beautifully renovated for limited budget working with. womens bathroom n antique mirrors beautiful.
The seats (all of them) are horrible. The floor seats are pathetic and the balcony seats are worse. If you are taller than about 5 2 you have no leg room. They are the same seats I used to sit in as a teenager (60+ years ago) Its a disgrace, I have contributed money to its renovation many times in the past but absolutely nothing is being done. They are making money, the help is volunteer but yet they cannot put any of the profits into new seats. Just deplorable, I quit going 3 years ago and perhaps everyone should quit going as well. Maybe then they will finally fix the seating problem.
It is a beautiful theater. The acoustics were good. I sat in upper balcony and did not have any trouble hearing or seeing.
The Theatre is just outstanding. The People are kind and polite.
This is a wonderful venue for movies and concerts. The acoustics are great.
Goo Goo Dolls killed it. Great show.
Love our event with John Cusack. Place was amazing
Atmosphere and ballet were awesome.
Its such an historic and beautiful venue. Its a wonderful place to see everything from concerts to comedians. The acoustics are phenomenal.
The seats in the balcony are so small that my legs were digging into the seat in front of me. Did not enjoy the show due to being in pain from the seats.
Great old theatre. Could use updates to the seats
Beautiful theatre and they have done a lot of work to update and restore it.
Amazing art-deco theater but somewhat dilapidated still. Hopefully they’ll be able to continue with restorations, because it truly is a thing of beauty.
3 Dog Night at the Orpheum... This is my favorite venue. Small enough for every seat to be outstanding... Convenient enough for a short walk into the venue... Beautiful decor. Always enjoy historical preservation in architecture. celebrate Wichita Old Town.
