First time here. Was clean, not the biggest room, but enough for us.
EVERY THING WAS GREAT EXEPT THE AC KEEPT SHUTTING OFF SO ROOM WAS WARM
After leaving the Golden Nugget because the new manager really didnt know her job, and the slot boss was excessively rude I moved over to the Garter. The staff was fantastic, the manager friendly and the slot boss very helpful. Mike and Kimberly changed my 2 day stay into a great visit. Ill be sure to drive past the nugget right on over to the Garter. Thanks guys!!
Our stay was over all relaxing, that was the whole point of our mini vacation, to do nothing. We understand a vacation during COVID will be different and limited, but coming from out of state we were unfamiliar with what is open or closed in NV.
An good hotel that is reasonably priced. Was clean - I cleaned myself due to COVID and the room was already pretty clean.Restaurant was mediocre, but passable for mid week. The staff was always friendly and helpful.
Although it has long been considered the run down or scrub of wendover, it has been renovated in recent years and is greatly improved. Also seems to have the loosest slot machines. Does still seem to have more technical interruptions and mishaps as well as less than amazing service and staff availability. But all in all very well worth it.
My SO and myself decided to randomly stay in Wendover for the night. We had made the decision to stay somewhere we have never stay before. The bright red lights of the Red Garter caught our eyes. We checked into a King size bed room and unfortunately the remote did not work in the room and we were only able to watch CNN. We called the front desk they sent maintenance Up to help assist us. Maintenance programmed the remote and with no luck still didn’t work. They ended up switching us rooms to another king size room where the tv and remote worked. They were super fast and accommodated us. The front desk was super friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. Free of smoke smell which is nice especially since they have a casino. They did check our temperature before we entered the casino area and had hand sanitizer stations everywhere.
Old needs renovation. Need better air circulation in the casino. Machines are tight
It smells like cigarette smoke everywhere, even in non-smoking rooms. The rooms themselves are decently updated and dont feel too dirty but the rest of the hotel and the entire town is really scuzzy. I would not come here on my own. It isnt even cheap enough for me to feel like Im at least getting a good deal or getting what I paid for. I have no desire to come back and stay at any hotel in the area, I would rather drive to another city.
The food was good the service was excellent as always. Prices best in town!!!. Have never stayed at hotel bot have eaten many times ar prospector cafe.
I would rate 5 stars but seriously, after being there for a day or two and hanging out in the casino and listening to the same 4 songs over and over and over again! I wanted to shoot myself! It wasnt even a a good selection of songs! Just 4 horrible songs, put on repeat. Literally! Makes for a horrible gambling experience!
Other than the casino was very hot it was, we had a great time & the cocktail waitress was polite & on top of bringing me my drinks.they do require you to wear a face mask & thet take everyones temperature. Definitely had a great time.
Would have been a better visit if the people above us werent so noisy.
Very Nice! New look and very clean! Smells clean, too! Love the machines!
The hotel room was not what was expected by the pictures online. The toilet in our room did not work, they offered us a plunger at 2 am (maintenance, left for the day). Not only were the beds stiff as a board, but the constant slamming of the other rooms in the hallway woke you everytime someone left or came to thier rooms. The worst part is that they are charging the same as the Peppermill, but the Peppermill is a much better hotel in comparison. I would not recommend this hotel.
This is my favorite hotel/casino to stay at while in Wendover. The rooms are cheap, its not overly loud or crowded, the game selection is awesome (my favorite is the electronic blackjack), the waitresses are friendly, and the food is cheap and delicious. Its literally a one stop shop for a fun, relaxing, boozy weekend.
Nice large casino in West wendover Nevada good service from the cocktail waitress no luck for me on the slots I dropped 200 in about an hour or so all an all a place worth stopping at if you are out that direction the strip in West wendover has a few casinos worth checking out
The rooms were good, but we had no wifi at our room during our stay; it was only down at the casino. The cleanliness of the building left something to be desired, however they did have a very nice room service staff.
Stay FAR away from oredering the Breakfast Buffet. Cold, hard pancakes, cold almost everything. Its definitely not worth the price. If youre looking for a really good breakfast take a trip to the Salt Flats Cafe.Sorry Red, it was that bad.... :(
So so casino. I prefer the other casinos but glad its here as an option.
Stayed here for one night in a smoking room. The customer service was good although once checked in we notice the bathroom dont flush all the way in. It was a big inconvenience due to the fact that I go bathroom almost instantly. It was unpleasant in fact I notify the lady the next afternoon. It will have to be half of what Im pay.
Love this place . I do best in the morning after everyone else goes to bed.
Always open. Good if youre on the road a lot. Breakfast 24-7, with sandwiches and dinner entres as well.
They take their precautions and wear masks and ensure your safety. Food was good. Stay a while and gamble a little. Felt very safe!
Its back opened YES I love the Red Garter the hotel is so nice and clean, the people are so Wonderful every one, I love every employee that works there they are great, thanks again Red Garter for all the fun, until I see you guys again k. At least 4 times a month ️ keep up the great work.
For my first time in Wendover I had a amazing experience. Everyone was super friendly my drinks were strong and never empty. I will be back!!!!
Pretty cheap gambling. Pretty good hotel room, wifi didnt work on any devices and room was really loud.
This review is for the Casino and the little coffee /breakfast place. The casino is pretty big it has lots of newer slots that are fun to place such as WIlly Wonka and Flintstones and few others. The coffee sandwhich place is great and so so cheap.
Great promotions for members! Fun place in a good old fashioned atmosphere. A great place to stop and stay.
The food was ok. But wished the machine would hit better.
Low key casino in wendover. Small but always fun.
Great location, excellent price! Was only disappointed by the fact there was no type of mini fridge. Would stay there again.
The service was terrible. Needed help with promotion, waited 20 minutes for help. They didnt once even ask if I wanted a drink while I played and spent my money on their machines. Machines were tight. Spin to win game; my fiance and I both won free drinks and waitresses didnt even check to see what I wanted to drink
Not great service and the food was okay. Nothing special, but was happy to find a done in resertraunt open during COVID-19 that we could eat at.
I love all of wendovers casinos especially at night.
It has a cool little cafe good food and for the most part the staff are decent.
Unlike the triplets (AKA, Montego, rainbow, and pepermill) the red garder is a nostalgic but homey invierment and the staff for the most part are friendly and helpful.
Covid is a problem, I get that. But don’t offer coupons for a free meal to restaurants you’ve closed. Additionally, maybe make sure the only restaurant you have can serve a decent meal. Worst dinner ever at The Prospector. Mushy mixed vegetables, dry & tough steak and a chefs salad that looked and tasted like a cheap deli option. Just maybe try harder when you only have 12 choices on the menu. You should have time. Secondly, many of the casinos machines were not functioning. Pretty frustrating limited options, just like the restaurants. It was very dirty and old in there.
My SO and myself decided to randomly stay in Wendover for the night. We had made the decision to stay somewhere we have never stay before. The bright red lights of the Red Garter caught our eyes. Dirty place, very rundown, the food is good but service sucks, and needs more updated machines. Ive his thing is its not busy
They have a great, cheap breakfast. Gambling pretty good, some customer service issues. But over all they rock!
The people in there are very rude and from what i san were only nice to there fellow mexicans and i say people need to not come there the while atmosphete and vive was negative
Red Garter resteraunt dinner was pretty good & the breakfast buffet was even better.
Amazing place for a night stay. Everything was perfect!
Hard to win any money, the bed was too firm but the food was great
Comfy bed and enjoyment even during a pandemic to still have some freedom to be up and about!!
I stayed here last Saturday night (January 4, 2020). I had a single king room, it was simple but very comfortable and very clean. I was very pleased and plan to stay here in the future. 5 stars here tooFor dinner, the wife and I ate at the Italia restaurant. Very good and reasonable price and a good wine list. 5 stars hereAfter dinner, spent a couple hours playing the slots for some needed relaxation before retiring for the night/ wee hours of the morning. 5 stars here tooPhoto show the room with my lovely wife as the model.Overall 15 stars
Big loss in Washington Indian casino...made up for it here!!
They have a great restaurant with amazing prices
Red garter sports bar only one game on Sunday morning and no food. One word, Rainbow
A great breakfast diner is inside. There are plenty of games and friendly people as well
I will always have a soft spot for the Red Garter. When I was growing up my dad would refer to the lady on the marque as The Shady Lady and we enjoyed the food here throughout management changes to today. The atmosphere is unique to it, and it alone. Try your luck, or just the food
Room was good, it was warm and comfortable, the doors to the hallway had the sound resilience of cardboard. You could hear every conversation in the hall and smell the cigarette smoke of every person that passed by smoking. Other than that the beds were comfortable and though they moved a lot and hit the walls every time you moved. I at least know that I was letting all the neighbors next door know how long I can go! Hope I kept them up too. For a $179 room, it really was more like a $68 Super 8 room, but I didnt have to drive from the casino and risk a DUI.
Was big mad. We didnt have no internet nor TV when I stayed there this time. We had a first floor room this time and we smelled smoke from the casino all night. This trip was bad this go round!
We have stayed here three times and the first two times were pretty good. It’s not as crowded as the other casinos, the rooms are decent enough, and for a smaller casino they have a nice variety slots. But sadly, we will not be returning. Last night a machine malfunctioned and ate a $5 bill of ours. Thinking this wasn’t a big deal, we kindly called over a slot attendant and she immediately gave us a sour attitude and assumed we were lying to her. She told me there’s no way I could even put money in the machine because the “call attendant” prompt was on the screen. I explained that the prompt showed up AFTER I put my money in, but she continued to be extremely rude and said I was lying. After she toyed with the machine for about 5 minutes she regretfully pulled out my crumpled $5 bill and handed it to me. I asked her to please not assume people are always lying and she responded with “I don’t care what you think” and stormed off. This is not how you treat people that are spending hundreds to thousands of dollars at your workplace.Aside from that interaction, the fitted sheet on our bed wasn’t pulled over one corner of the mattress and there were hairs in the blankets which makes me question the thoroughness of housekeeping. Also, the “free meal” you get with a $170 room purchase consists of horribly slow service and barebones pasta with sauce (no meat) just straight up marinara, alfredo, or pesto.I know this hotel is often a last resort when the other hotels are booked, but honestly I would recommend to not waste your money and wait for a weekend with other options.
Casino is fine, typical. Staff is friendly. The rooms are somewhat updated and decently clean. The hotel as a whole could use a major upgrade; its so run down. The best part are the b-fast sandwiches at the lil coffee corner. Only $2.99 and they are actually delicious. I got the carnitas one twice and both times they were good but the second time it additionally had a buttload of fresh avocado, as well as two fried eggs. Cheap and filling breakfast, snack, or drunk munchie (drunchie) and open 24/7.
One of the Casinos in Wendover, Nevada. The Casino has good food and drinks, as all casinos possess. Clean, plenty of Tvs to be entertained and you may be a Winner as we were (small winning, we exit with more than we arrived). It is a smaller casino but it is bigger on the inside. Good food, clean restrooms, clean floors in casino, and plenty of floor walkers to assist you when needed. Be ready to be a winner, you may express your enjoyment as you leave. We stop here on our way to Arizona and our way back to Oregon.
Get a new Playlist. Same 3 songs on repeat gets old quick.
Too hot - make make it stifulling
It was clean, social distance enforced. Not many people there. No tables open to play
We love the red garter. We stay here every time we go out to wendover. The staff is friendly, rooms are clean and nicely priced, slots are great and prospector cafe is yummy. Highly recommend.
Waitresses suck on weekdays very few do there job and dont suck at It
Clean hotel. Nice room. No bed bugs. Decent casino if youre into that. Smoke friendly. Has an ice machine. Can reserve ahead.
Great prime rib. Years ago the food was not very good, but our last visit things have changed and I think their food beats the other casinos hand down. Good food, good portions. Give em a try. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all great.
My waiter was super nice. His daughter came in and it was so sweet to see the encounter. Made me want to have more kids watching them. It was special. I give this place 5 stars!
In my opinion the red garter has went downhill, They are now charging 90 plus dollars per night weeknights room rates, $130 a night for weekend rates, It is a lot cheaper to stay at 1 of the Peppermill resorts
Recently remodeled well.. Stayed here 12 years ago and it was a run down motel 6 behind the casino.... Way better then it was
Customer service:1/5 employees here are amazing, and willing to go the extra mile for you. The rest do the bare minimum.Hotel rooms:Room was alright, 90% clean ( garage under the nightstand, and table).
Great people good service employees are the best rooms are very nice the food prices and quality cannot be beat and your chance of winning somemoney are as good as any at the red gartr thank you Stephanie
The room was nice, tiny tiny bathroom, casino very smokey and uncomfortable for non smokers
Had a fun time. Great food prices compared with the big 3. Only negative is the dark interior.
Good reasonably priced food.Good slots
We didnt do anything there but eat, wed been out in the wilderness on the pony Express trail and we were pretty hungry. When we got in there we got lots of food, at a good price, service was good, no problems.
They are really tight with the winnings. Mostly older crowd 55+.
Boy oh boy this place has changed over the years. And thats not a bad thing. I remember when it used to a small little place on the edge of town. Somebody put a lot of $$$ into this place and really gave it a facelift!Im not sure if its still available, but it was a cheap breakfast place after a night of entertainment/gambling. Nice to see some of the old building along with the new.
Hotel was clean and room was simple but the noise level in the room was ridiculous. We woke up to the housekeeping staff cleaning the surrounding rooms and you could hear everything
Went there for breakfast at the prospector cafe. The chicken fried steak was worth the stop.
*Update: management did reach out and addressed the situation and how it was handled.* We have stayed at this hotel a few times, but our most recent stay may not have us staying there again. They did offer us a discount on our room but I feel like our issue should have been taken care of when we notified the front desk. Our room was freezing cold due to the high winds and freezing cold air coming thru cracks in the window
Nice rooms, good rates.
Better to spend $20 more and stay at the Rainbow or Peppermill. The beds & bathrooms are fine, but the carpet is SO disgustingly dirty, especially in the halls and elevator. Everything needs a new coat of paint, and the light switch plates are old and yellowed, adding to the unclean feeling. Plus housekeeping knocked on our door at 9am despite our ‘do not disturb’ sign.
Love the prices. Love the tables and machines. We come every chance we get. The restaurant is great food for very reasonable prices.
They have done a lot of remodeling the place looks great
Boring and staff wasnt nice. I forgot my maak and the staff just yelled at me to get out.
Nice casino and the prospector restaurant is awesome!
Machines paying. Nice quiet atmosphere!
I love the staff they are super friendly.
I used to call this place the Red GUTTER because of the sleazy and dirty feel you get when you walked in. A few years back, someone decided to gut the entire casino and create a very nice remodeled Casino. I ate at the Italian restaurant and my meal was excellent!! We watch the UFC fights in a nice banquet room for FREE.The only thing missing in this Casino is a Poker Room and a William Hill. If they would add just a poker room I would ditch all the other casinos for this one. I only come out to Wendover 2-3 times a year, but definitely impressed with the improvements the Red Garter has made.
Extremely poor customer service, will never stay here again.
They practice price gouging at check-in; make reservations online... internet says $80/night. The charges on my card were over twice that, for one night. Checked out by 11, left the room in normal condition for leaving a motel room, didnt smoke in a non-smoking room, (the halls wreaked of smoke smell), and despite the response here from the hotel - theyve ignored the email I sent as requested. (And they got my name wrong...)
The staff in most areas was helpful and courteous. The Prospector Cafe was probably understaffed that evening and we waited 30 minutes and no one came. We tried again in the morning and the service was much better. No more than 5 minutes and our order was taken. Overall a good place to stay.
Love Eating at the Prospector Cafe. Food always Great and Prices are Good. Casino is not to Crowded and I can usually find my Favorite Slots open and Available. Cocktail Waitress always available for Drink Service.
Enjoyed everything at this property, except.......the beds in the room are in much meed of replacement. Springs are broken and mattress are sloped. But overall was a great stay!
The hotel was clean and the rooms not too bad for just sleeping. My stars come from these observations:1: no latch on the doors. Im a fan of the little bit of extra piece of mind where once youre in for the night you can lock the door and swing that arm across the door jam preventing anyone from coming in. Like in the morning where, in a drunken stupor you forgot to put up the do not disturb sign the night before and now housekeeping is coming in at 9 am? That arm comes in handy2: holy lack of insulation/sound proofing!! I could hear doors closing on the 1st floor from our 2nd floor room. And lets not even discuss the drunken conversations that took place in the hallway we were privy to from our room at 4 a.m3: NO COFFEE POT! 1st world problems yes, however Im too freaking grouchy to make it down to the Starbucks without at least 1 cup of java to prevent death on the way. I get no mini fridge or microwave, but no coffee pot. Stone ages I tell ya.
They have a lot of the Vegas type games that other Wendover casinos do not have. I have won a ton and lost a ton. The restaurant leaves much to be desired.
