I love this place! Its music and vibe are what can keep me going weekly. I celebrated my birthday in LA where all my friends & family are. I arranged the bottle service with guest list weeks prior to my bday celebration (Feb 3). Everything worked out smoothly. I was able to bring my own birthday arrangements (see main picture), cake and they provided all the other goodies (champagne, sliders, fries, etc.) thank you for the amazing hospitality, Apt 503. I cannot wait to go back when Im home! :)
We stumbled upon this place because we wanted a fancy rooftop and it does not disappoint. Expect an exceptionally well designed rooftop with a lot of cool ambiance. The crowd was well dressed, don’t be wearing sloppy sandals or runners, or lululemon tights. It’s an elegant place but don’t wear an outfit like you would if you went to a swanky New York lounge like the Thompson. Wear nice pressed pants, dark or light pants, and a quality pressed top. Have some sort of style.I really enjoyed this place and the space is pretty spectacular. Night views are amazing.Drinks are pretty much $15-20. Average prices for LA so a bargain here as you get so much ambiance and views.A must for LA!
We stopped by to order lunch to go. I ordered popcorn pork. I thought it would come with a generous portion of veggies. It came with two pinchful of cabbages and a tiny dressing dip. There were hardly any meat and it was breaded without any sauce. It came with a small cup of plain white rice. It was not worth half of the price paid.I am giving an extra star because the server was very friendly. I understand they are not in the business of doing takeouts so I appreciate him for accommodating our request with a positive attitude.
Dinner was amazing...This is hands down my favorite spot when am in the area...Roscoe roll and Ice green tea.Cant go wrong...Happy hour no joke...Take out they got it...100% recomend....
Had a great time with some friends here. Also, our waiter Miranda was outstanding.Service was on point. 4/10 would come here again if they had servers like Miranda.
Peter was an amazing server ! Went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I enjoyed our dinner ! A great experience with amazing food-cant top that! One of the servers with the cheese and honey was also very kind and accommodating. Worth it and will return!
Great local bar. Amazing food and drinks. 2 for 1 drinks from 4 - 9!!!! Bar owner jimmy really makes you feel welcome.
I prefer full bars over bars that serve wine and beer only. However its a local dive bar and its good for that.
Went here Thursday night to support my friend JC. Great singing performance and great venue! What I liked:- friendly owner/bartender- you can sample wine before buying- ample street parking, lots nearby- dark ambiance- had one glass of malbec that got me very buzzed!- paid $5, not sure if that was because I was new to the place?- hungry? local restaurants will deliver!I will be back :)
Great place and atmosphere. Went for brunch with 7 other girls and everyone had a great time. The brunch food was delicious and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly. Some had the bottomless mimosas and the server was very attentive in making sure the glasses were always topped up! He also brought out something nice for the bride-to-be on the house.
The food wasnt good or bad per say. It was edible. Tempura was ok. I order the baked mussels appetizer that arrived super dry, chewy and burned on the sides, not to mention the jagged broken edge on one of them. Took one bite (just to confirm what I already knew) and told them I did not want it. They then later gave me the bill, it took them 15 minutes with an empty restaurant to get back to me after asking why the uneaten mussels were included and told me that this dish is very popular, people never complain about it and that even though I did not eat it, I had to pay for it. Also every item is arbitrarily upcharged $2 with no improvement in quality of product or service for the trouble. I will not be returning.
We came here for casual date night. It was great atmosphere, great music, great food, great service, and great drinks. Everything was really great - a true hidden gem. We definitely will be going back again. See photos of the foods. We ordered:- pork belly sushi: BOMB!- stuffed toasted jalapeños: BOMB!- burrata and beet salad: good- braised shortrib ravioli: good- beignets: yum
Spirits: nothing spectacular. Some of the featured cocktails were a bit on the bitter side for me.
If you can find a way in here at night, go. If you can find a way to go here during the day, go. It is part of an experience that, if you are looking for it, will help in ways that may not be evident when you first walk in. Skybar and Mondrian staff are exceptional and friendly. I met lifelong friends here. There are places to begin adventures into LA, Orange County, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties and if successful it will take you years to find very special places to visit. No matter how long you live in or visit Southern California there is always somewhere to make your own.
Nice ambiance. Came in at Friday night, I arrived there about 6:00pm and the bar was almost full. They had about 20 different kinds of cocktails. I chose The Pony Remark, and it tasted great and rich. Should give it a try when next time you are around west village.
Not bad, first time here!Drinks are not the best but not the worstI didnt really like the Dj set.. wasnt unique at all, he has no style and apparently no music taste as well even tho it was Friday nightGreat views
Ive been twice and both times really enjoyed the venue and crowd. Great spot to be.But the most recent time I went on memorial day, I had a really odd experience.I had bought a ticket but once I arrived, was told there would be a strict dress code policy. They required shorts and I had jeans on. Now something like that MUST be disclosed on the ticket, if not the event description as well. As a paying customer, I need to be made aware of these things, not surprised at the door.Overall enjoy the venue and their events however.
Favorite go-to neighborhood bar. Solid beer selection, chill crowd, comfortable. Also, a super friendly staff that doesnt mind a mid-60s to early 70s playlist on the jukebox.
Beautiful view. A bit pretentious and overpriced. Definitely a great place for instagram pictures but I can’t say too much about a great or riveting experience. Especially with customer service.
First of all I will say the bar staff and experience is amazing ..but......The door man has no clue on how to run the front of a club. If you read this door guy!! Remember its not who or if you let someone in! Its always how you do it! I was voted door man of Detroit 10 years ago and I truthfully feel I was given that title because I always showed respect and great appreciation guests picked us!! I never would be so rude as to look someone in the eye and just smile at them while they are politely asking to get in . No response just smiles to all my questions!!I guess I wasnt worth wasting a single word on. Im currently staying at the hotel with a large party of business owner, we have a gathering this week here . The funny thing is he didnt care I was a guest at the hotel. What makes that funny is when I got back to the pool bar and talked to the bartender he said I was at the skybar and that was just an outside entrance for guests not staying at the hotel. Thats fine but he knew I was a guest so why all the games ? Maybe it was his way of getting more money out of me? IDK
Great place to grab a drink and a bite to eat. The cocktails are great and the wings, octopus and cauliflower were excellent. We were lucky to nab a couple seats at the bar... just took some friendly hovering and keeping and eye out for openings.
Good place to hang and eat some good food. It has a great atmosphere. Menu is similar to a restaurant in El Paso I loved.
This place is definitely a cool spot to go once because the view is absolutely incredible. However, its pretty pretentious in my opinion, they made me and two friends wait outside in the cold because we hadnt reserved a table and it was too full until a friend inside came and got us just to discover the place was absolutely empty . The drinks are pretty good but of course super expensive. Overall, a good place to go with a big group of friends for a special occasion.
Simply a neglect and one of the worst experiences Ive ever had. Just being in a group of 12 people the porter decided to charge 800 dollars so we could enter without having any notice of entry fee and no amount of what was being charged! There is no advance notice of charge for entry, nor a pre-set amount, simply the doorman chooses the amount to be charged on time. Unfair and a total disregard for your customers!
I love this place especially during the summer! My go to place is skybar!
This is one of my favorite places to go all time in West Hollywood. Drink options galore and the music is probably the best in West Hollywood (if you like hip hop, dance hall, and 90s music). It definitely gets packed Thurs and Saturday nights so dress comfortably, which is not a problem at Skybar.
Very relaxing vibe . Very accommodating staff even if you have a question they are more than willing to assist. Definitely will be revisiting this place throughout the summer . I didn’t catch her name (The Blonde bartender) is also amazing . People are respectfully.
Very sleek and popular bar. You will often find a familiar face by the pool. They have a great selection of drinks with an appropriate high price tag. It can be a little hard to get in on the weekends so come dressed appropriately. The view is really the best part and what makes it stand out. It is just hard to beat even on the strip.
Located inside of the Mondrian hotel in West Hollywood/Sunset Strip, the Skybar lends a trendy-Los Angeles experience yo its patrons. I was planning to meet a girlfriend at Skybar, it had been so long since I was there I forgot how to even get there. I walked straight into the hotel and to the elevator assuming that it was on the top floor. My girlfriend did the same thing even though we showed up separately. One of the Mondrian employees came over to me and let me know that it was right over to the right on the lobby level. I also forgot the restaurant, The Ivory was right next-door. All of these things that escaped my mind. The Skybar is so different during the day and than at night. Its very peaceful and hip and trendy at night. It gets pretty wild on the weekends during the day. I loved the experience there that evening-between the atmosphere, the service, and how delicious the drinks were, Ive decided to have my birthday there this weekend! I called recently and a really helpful employee guided me in the right direction. I havent tried their food options but I will be this weekend! A little pricey but to be expected at a hip, hotel bar/lounge. Also Id like to add this is my 685th review and my birthday is 6/8/85 so I feel as though this is destiny I celebrate there!
I went to skybar last night for the first time. The atmospehere was perfect, everyone was very spread out over this beautiful pool area and the dj was awesome! I loved that she played a mix of hip hop, latin music and even a little ska. I gave this place 3 stars because the bar service was horrible...there were 2 guys working the bar and each time it took 30+ mins to get a drink...the place was not crowded enough to take that long ...and everyone waiting for drinks were not happy...they just seemed to be very scattered and unorganized and took a long time to make just a few drinks...i mean there couldnt have been more than 15 people at the bar...so i am not sure why it was taking so long for drinks but hopefully they can work on that! Other than that i really enjoyed myself last night and definitely will be going back!
Everything perfect. I love The Champagne in The Sky.
Used the restaurant on two evenings and the pool bar on four lunchtimes - the portions are large.
Went here for drinks on a Wednesday night and it was empty. There was one waitress wandering around but she didnt find us so we ordered at the bar. While the prices are high, they are on-par with what I would expect for a fancy hotel bar. My frozen cocktail was amazing.
I came to Skybar for a networking event so Im not necessarily reviewing it for the weekend nightlife. However, the venue itself is a really beautiful location on Sunset. The venue is located in the Mondrian Hotel. Come into the lobby; go right and youll see it on the right side. Theres a beautiful swimming pool with a backdrop of LA in the background in huge windows. Its a beautiful sight well worth seeing. Above behind the pool youll see a cabana area with the bar which looks nice. The drinks are normal priced (aka pricey) so expect to pay +$10 for any drink. The biggest mess is parking. Avoid valet unless you want to pay $20. I found a parking lot for half the price a little ways down Sunset and the walk wasnt too bad. Still, it can be a headache looking for parking so give yourself some time.All-in-all, a beautiful venue, normal priced drinks and a cool atmosphere make it an interesting visit.
The last time we spent the evening at the Skybar in Los Angeles we were staying in the Hollywood Hills with an extraordinary view of the city below. The Skybar looks out over West Hollywood with a similar view just as gorgeous with the lights of the city twinkling brightly in the night sky overlooking Los Angeles. Its an amazing panorama you cant miss just one of the many reasons to spend the evening at the Skybar at the Mondrian Hotel on the Sunset Strip. We had a good time having a drink in this legendary bar. Celebrities may be rumored to hang out at the Skybar but we usually see struggling actors who hand us their cards hoping for a break in this town of broken hearts. Its not difficult to get in the door if you know someone or look like you belong. The Skybar is above a lighted swimming pool with a huge communal mattress for talking and sharing stories while meeting people. We had a few well made reasonably priced drinks at the bar high above the swimming pool overlooking the city of Los Angeles while we talked in the warm night air feeling alright. After meeting people chatting almost all night long, we relaxed in a friends room upstairs in the Mondrian. Although parking is a nightmare on Sunset Boulevard, the Mondrian provides valet service. Excellent service with a distinctive personality, the Skybar Is a Hollywood legend designed by French architect Philippe Stark with simplicity providing a memorable experience for anyone seeking an exciting nightlife downtown in the city of Los Angeles.
Sky bar is open !!! Lets get a drink!
Let me first start by saying that this place is pushy, and I absolutely dont recommend it. I went here with a bunch of friends after being enticed by the pictures of the bar with cubana seating and pool right in the middle of the bar. While the ambience does live up the expectation I dont recommend the place for the staff and service. The hostess first told us that we need to take table service ( mandatory ) to get a seat. On asking her that why is this mandatory when we see a lot of other groups sitting there without bottle service, they said you can take the spot but if we get someone else who is willing to take bottle service you will need to get up. We concurred with this arrangement. She then told us that we need to move to a different section even with this arrangement, which was fine. We got one round of drinks and some nibbles. Soon after the hostess walked up to our table letting us know that the place is starting to get crowded ( which is absolutely not true, since we could see so many vacant tables ), we will have to take bottle service to continue sitting there. Let me also add that the table to our left and right both did not have bottle service, and were peacefully sitting there with no botheration from the staff. We were the only group that had to take bottle service to continue sitting there. She didnt bother asking us either if we were willing to take another round of drinks or for how long will we be there for. We then told the hostess that we will take the cheque, and leave instead and were not interested in the bottle service. I think this caught her off guard, since she was probably expecting that she would coax us into getting bottle service. However, she agreed and got us the cheque. We left to notice that at least 60 percent of the bar still had open seats with not even a single person queing up at the entrance either. Now I dont know if this was just a manipulative trick to force us into getting bottle service or just a bar policy that they did not know how to enforce and turn down guests who dont want bottle service but I definitely havent felt this unwelcomed at any other bar. I know that I am not going there again and would like to give this heads up to any other person planning to visit this place.
Skybar is a Los Angeles classic. Its a good scene and lovely view. Its popularity has waned a bit as of late, hence the four stars instead of five.
Went for nye 2017 event. Lively crowd and great service. Slightly cold since its half inside half outside so ladies dress warm. Did not try any food but there are some amazing views.
This place offers romantic views of the city and reasonably- priced drinks. Cool one & done experience.
My favorite pool in LA #frozeallday
DONT GO HERE WE WERE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST FOR NO REASON, AT FIRST THEY STATED THAT YOU HAD TO HAVE A ROOM THEN IT SWITCHED TO IT BEING UP TO THE FRONT DOOR SECURITY IN WHICH THEY STILL DENIED US I WILL BE TAKING LEGAL ACTION!!!
A stunning view. Pleasant place
This place is TERRIBLE.WORST PLACE ON THE SUNSET STRIP.WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.
They discriminate me and my friends because am black and my two Asian girls. We got kick out for buying to many drinks they have a limit on drinks you can’t buy 5 drinks or they will question you.
True Hollywood essence, great food and great drinks and music. Real relaxing atmosphere, truly a awesome date spot.
Totally extra & pretentious place. We’re visiting LA from London and wanted to check out this bar. We drove down there with our friends but we were refused entry because one of us was wearing shorts, moccasins and a shirt. The problem was the shorts.I wouldn’t recommend this bar for one main reason, I personally refuse to acknowledge face control. Especially from a poorly maintained 1990’s building with the main entrance next to a dodgy garage door. I do understand regulations but for someone who values appearance I would expect that they look after their own property before they proceed with the application of old fashioned and cheap regulations regarding third parties.
They treat people bad they let everyone Snapchat and take pictures so they wanted to pick on me
$10-$15 drinks. Great for tourists to see the LA scene. Great view from the bar overlooking the city,
Heinous service.... lured into a lounge and bought food and drink only to be told once the “skybar” opened that we couldn’t enter because we had sandles on... ghetto...
Very popular with the A listers. Moby was poolside when I stayed. Very nice relaxing atmosphere, and great view over LA. Check in staff seem willing to upgrade you, if you just ask...
One of the best bars Ive been to. It has a great atmosphere and ambiance. Good crowds of people equally enjoying.
I live right behind the Skybar and theirs always beautiful and happy people there and the service is so Cool.Knowing all the places in this area the Skybar Rocks!
Super Posh place, cute girls. Definitely great for dates! The food there was a bit pricey but otherwise it was a good time.
They solen my phone at the bar one of the workers
Staff cant be trusted. The waitress ordered 4 tequilas for us at the end of the night and failed to mention that they were $50 each. When i questioned the additional $200 for tequilas the manager came over and i entered into an hour debate over the bill. He was rude, condescending and threatened to do it the easy way, or the hard way. I would only come back here to take a piss in the toilet. Waste of time and money.
My name is Kenneth Thomas and this is my review! Dude, I dunno about going here. Im afraid of heights!! Still, though, any bar thats up in the sky gets an A for effort. And for Air!
Skybar? More like blvd. Of broken dreams! I can buy a bottle of ZACAPA centenario instead of what they serve. Very trendy(look at me, look at me crowd),waitress Maggie sucks!
Cool bar inside the Mondrian hotel on Sunset Blvd. The view is great, the cocktails good, and theres generally a nice crowd. It gets crowded during the weekend, so make sure to either go early, have a table, a room at the hotel, or make friends with the bouncers.
The best!
Now this name Skybar numerically adds to number of Moon. Good for 2 Number people. Can changed to different numbers, by change of alphabet.
Love this place.Romantic.Peaceful.Quiet.Discrete.Love the white linens, the candlelight - the cityscape and illuminated pool.Private cabanas are fun for dates or girls night out.Great venue for Hollywood events.Shi shi and posh - but fun.;-)
This was definitely a great place to party. The DJ was awesome. It was a huge crowd on Saturday, so it was kinda hard to find a place to sit by the pool but it was still fun. Friday was a bit less crowded. Im not sure if its always like that or just that weekend. But it was Still a good time. The rooms were amazing. Clean, comfy and awesome view. The food was amazing in the downstairs restaurant. It was a little pricey but not for hollywood i guess. The employees were absolutely amazing. So helpful and accommodating. They helped us with our luggage to and from the room. They even stored it for us after check out so we could stay and play at the sky bar. The only thing I can complain about is there was no phone in our room and the tv didnt work. But we didnt even notice that until we were getting ready to leave. Lol TV is definitely not one of the top priorities while your staying here. Hope I was helpful. Have a lovely trip.
Good luckYou need a lot if you want a nice table with a nice viewBut its worth waiting
A very good place to drink cocktails ! Perfect view on WEHO
Some of the best views of the city. Very trendy crowd
The only reason I still go to Skybar is for the Monday night dive in movie screenings. The bar is way past its prime and really only attracts out of towers and no one who lives in Hollywood or west Hollywood wants to hang out with tourists all the time.
Beautiful bar with an extravagant View and affordable prices
Dont bother going here. You can RSVP and think your getting in but show up after 9PM and your not getting in. It was our friends birthday and we RSVPed online yet we still didnt get in. Pretty sad... when you ruin somebodys night.
Fancy place with stylish areas around pool to enjoy your drink.
Gorgeous views. Ate the octopus salad and it was delicious.
Love it pplz always friendly the pool lovely service is always too bz for the customer
Rooftop: Okay, this one stretches the rooftop definition a little, but its top-of-the-mountain view of the city + great pool + model-y ambience is probably what people from the Midwest think of when they picture LA. Grab some of the house-made harissa hummus or some seafood flatbread, and think about all the poor unfortunate souls who aren’t you. (TheThrillist)
Nice view. Expansive outdoor space, and the pool is nice.
This place needs to step their game up. I RSVPd for an event that was promoted so i could get in for free. When i get there, they dont recognize the event, the list, and even bash on the company co-hosting the event. The Lady was chill, just not accommodating. Paid the gross-overcharge of $20 to get into the way too overcrowded brofestivial. Got a whiskey ginger and they used Jack-Daniels... lordy, the cost $17. Went and hung out in the shade/upper bar for a little where the waitress was chill and brought me an old-fashion (mondrian style), which tasted more like sugar than liquor. Although the experience altogether wasnt the best, my biggest issue was that it wasnt even on a rooftop, just a pool area overlooking the city below (happens to be on a hill). The cool part about the place is that it is poppin, lots of people (mostly bros with their shirts off), but its a friendly atmosphere.
West Hollywood has no shortage of beautiful people and to me Skybar is one of the few places thats view actually matches the crowd. You can have all the decorations and interior design in the world, but a view in something that to me sets them apart. The pool is nice and quaint and exactly where you would imagine a fashion show runway to be set up. Actually Im pretty sure this has happened here.Ive been here for weeknight caps, and on the weekends, but my preference is weeknights. People arent so amped to rage and its pretty popular with the locals versus myself an out of Towner.I was told it was guest list only from 8pm to 2am, but I never once called ahead and never really waited in line too much or was hassled. A nominal tip and I was in, but keeping the ratio right is always a plus so I usually roll solo or +2 females, though I have heard of tight bouncers enforcing the rule. Attempt to bypass the guest list rule at your own risk. For a bar with club hours they have some pretty impressive wines, but in the preferred drink of choice is Champagne and they are all pricey. I tend to stick with beer or Whiskey as Makers, Jameson are their bottom shelf stuff. I really like how theyve stepped up their craft cocktail game with The Pedigree (salty dog with basil), Acai lemonade (lemonade, cranberry juice and veev acai). A few others use champagne like the Fluer-de-l citrus and the French pear martini. Though I only tried these, I never drank them they were orders for my guests I can say their construction was excellent and though too fruity for me (except the Pedigree) I would highly recommend going with a cocktail versus a 2 ingredient drink.Staff are pretty pro, its not that they are nice, but they are tip hungry, heck the whole pool lounge/bar industry seems to expect bottle service to be the norm and black cards a plenty. I am not baller, but you must come prepared to drop a pretty penny on a night out here whether a round for you and your posse or the lovelies across the way. Security is pretty laxed as long as youre having good clean fun. Ive been able to vape, but Ive also been asked not to, so the rules are mixed, but then again its a matter of getting in with it as they do check cigarettes and Ive seen people walk all the way back to their car. Prices are high, but its LA, no its West Hollywood with a view so look to double or triple your usual pricing. Its surprisingly warm from what I think are thermals because usually balconys or rooftop pools are cooler than below, but not here. Parking sucks.Too many variables could ruin your night out here like parking, guest list, drink prices, so I cant give it 5 stars, but its a solid 4+ if you do get in and can skirt the typical LA-ness.
One of my favorite places
Well, just visited there at 22:30 on a Friday evening. I went and sat at the bar (there were 5 seats free) and was ignored by at least three members of staff. As it’s a free market, they made their choice not to take my custom and I’ve taken my custom elsewhere.
You need to make good cocktails.
Really nice. Very high class.
Like asia de cuba you are paying for the best view of the city of los angeles
Unfriendly bouncer from the hotel/restaurant side and very strange young crowd. View is great.
Great view, chill night for a Wednesday
Don’t go here if you are a minorities they will discriminate you because of the shoes you wear while allowing the whites wearing the same shoes in.
Terrible!
So so
Awesome views, good food, good service
Great place
Man at the door was very rude to my autistic son, told us to scram otherwise hed get security.
Elegant, beautiful, nice people, a place to visit for a cocktail in Paris :)
Great cocktails
Overrated
Way overrated. Even the views arent that great.
️
Too... Hollywood its all about what movie or song did you do b4 they let you in...
Amazing hotel, bar, and vibe
After 1.30 am waiters start to yell at everyone at the pool to leave the bar thats funny! Bar tenders have no idea how to make cocktails so sad!
