Nice fungi spot with little, but largely intriguing variety. Highly recomend this park to anyone who enjoys walking through brush and muddy waters to discover the ecology of a place. Perfect for runners, children, and explorers a like, this park features playground and picnic amenities, trailing gravel tracks for running, walking or jogging, boat ramp for canoeing, separate lake for fishing, and many walk to piers overlooking the lake. Wonderful park to visit for all ages.

Beautiful well maintained park with playgrounds and walking trails, watch out for snakes, saw this guy right in the middle of the trail, he almost got stepped on!

This park is very very pretty. They have deer that can get as close as just a few feet away from you but you shouldnt touch them of course because theyre wild animals lol. The scenery is very calming also. Its a great place to take a hike and really feel nature.

Decent park and trails. Wish the boat ramps were operable. Not a bad place to launch kayaks though, just watch for the power boats or people on jetskis

Beautiful park but have always had a problem with overzealous attendants that dont allow you to unload then go park and boat ramps that you cant use.. dumn... Great place to walk your dog or have a kid bday party though

Really peaceful near the water and the birds and cicadas sound wonderful on the walking trails. Most of the pavilions are currently closed due to the pandemic, but otherwise a very relaxing place to visit.

Spread out. Beautiful. Lots of playgrounds. Lots of trails. We saw a handful of deer on our trip. We went on a Saturday during the holidays and there were very few people there. Great place to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Very beautiful and very serene. One of the best trails Ive visited so far. It was muddy when wet so be careful. I love the fact that its cleaned and Its very organized and so relaxing! Theyre also swings and trash bin at every corner is the well kept area.

Very scenic and fun for the family. Tons of trails, fishing spots, biking and hiking places, and tons of beautiful scenery! My favorite scene would have to be the Mother Earth Eco-Sculpture. The little add on where you can see the fish and turtles is also very entertaining!

Great fishing, beautiful trails, keep your eyes open for art rocks in the trails and throughout the park.

What a great park. We were there for a school Orienteering function, but while the kids did there thing I walked trails. There are play grounds and great pavilions to have gatherings. There are plenty of restrooms as well as port-o-cans throughout the park.

We really enjoy the openness of this park. Since COVID-19, we have used the parking area for birthday parades. It helps us keep a good distance!!

A fun park that keeps getting new additions. Theyve made extensions to trails and added new ones. The pond is nice and relaxing and theres a boat ramp in the back. Its a great place to unwind, sit back and take in all the nature.

Cute park with lots of little trails. Saw a number of white herons, a giant banana spider, a turtle.

Wonderful quiet friendly good fishing on the lake. Great place to relax and fish. Caught some beautiful catfish and bass. Also tons of little bluegill. Kids love to fish there. Great spot to teach children to fish.

Checked out the boat ramp for a future row boat adventure. Looks good, although the ramp has a lot of high water debris. Might be painful carrying my boat through it.

Such a nice park with a long hair trail and boardwalk with a really pretty view.

We enjoyed all the playground equipment. There were at least 4 separate play areas complete with shade covers. Our favorite part was the boardwalk trails over the wetlands areas. Lots of huge trees covered in Spanish Moss.

Great place to get away from the concrete jungle. It has a beautiful water seen, long trails in the woods, a nature center, and more. My husband and I went on the trails and they are nice and spacious. I was concerned about the wild hogs since there are warning signs about them all over the place! Never saw any thanks goodness!It was a pure delight getting in the middle of nature, even for a short time.

Nice place to get away for a quick fishing. Blue gills are fun to catch

I love how the playground has multiple sets based on age appropriateness. Also the nature trails were nice.

I used to take my son to this park all the time until he was about 10 yrs old. He loved the room to run and the covered playground that had protection from the sun. We fished this pond often, occasionally catching a catfish or even a turtle. We had so much fun. Alas, my son has outgrown going to the park with Dad. But we still have great memories. Take time to enjoy your children while they are small because they grow up fast!

I liked walking the loop around the park. Its a piece of the woods in a metroplex.

Absolutely grand nature park and trail. areas with deep woods, walking paths, a hill and lake. play areas for the kids. a place to canoe. something for everyone who wants to relax outside.

An expansive park with a number of activities. Well maintained.

My ex husband used to go there on his motorcycle for lunch under the pavilions and take a nap in the shade during his hour long lunch. He worked at utmb right next to the park. After about 6onths or more of him enjoying his daily lunch during nice weather he asked me if I wanted to ride my cb500 with a trunk, to bring him a picnic lunch. I met him under the pavilions and it was lovely for a good few times. Here is where I need to warn everyone who rides motorcycles through challenger sevens boat drop off.... I could have died riding over the drop off area, I could have dropped my bike onto my left femur and maybe even severed the femoral arterie because of the decline. I was not expecting it to be so violently unstable as I feathered the cluck to safety. Beware motorcycle riders of the boat drop off! I wasn’t warned and could have died all alone on my bike and bled out in seven mins!

Cool little spot to get away. Stocked fish pond, nice nature trails, BBQ pits and covered areas, lots of stuff for the kids to play on. There is a boat landing there for smaller boats, but sometimes the landing is closed

Its a great hidden gem park. Lots of deer walking by in the distance. Some areas are closed for walking. Could use a little maintenance upgrade.

I am very fortunate that I live so close to this park. Im a photographer who enjoys nature more than anything. Its the perfect spot for me to relax and go for a walk. I often see deer, a friendly person fishing or families exposing the beauty to their children. There are picnic areas and even a playground for the kids to enjoy.

They have upgraded this park with biking trails! Of course there is fishing for catfish and I think bass. There are different areas with pavilions for get togethers and have play grounds with each different pavilion. They also have hiking trails and kayak launch.

Walks, bikes, playgrounds, fishing, BBQ pits,and wild life adventure. You have everything here. They also have clean restrooms.

I was unable to get the full experience as it began to rain.Noticed wildlife trails often.The walkBeing above the ground transforms one with each step towards elevation. I have enjoyed this park for years but I am very concerned about the poor condition Ive seen recently. The boardwalk is in poor condition has been closed, the walking paths are disintegrating and becoming overgrown and the piers on the waterfront have been neglected and are no longer usable. Im not sure if it is a money issue or what but maintenance at this park has really fallen off in recent years.

My kids love to come here to play on the playgrounds. They have 3 play areas right next to each other that cater to toddlers and older kids. We also enjoy taking the boardwalk to look at the creek. Occasionally we take some of the paths through the woods, get a little lost, and enjoy finding our way back. Its a nice getaway from paved walks.

Wonderful park with sunscreens over playground equipment so they arent s torching hot. Nice outdoor area to be reserved with a smoker and two charcoal grills. Boat ramp in back of park and additional elevated trails out to clear creek. Love it there!

My wife and I had one of the best dates weve had in a long time just walking the trail and talking. Got to the lookout over the creek, romantic. Bring mosquito repellent.

The pavilions are nice and clean with plenty of picnic tables, clean restrooms, nice outside cooking areas with running water and electrical outlets great for any type of party. The playground is well kept with plenty of stuff to entertain the kids.

One of my fave parks in the area! Ginooormous! Port-a-potties not to be trusted. Go use a working bathroom at one of the pavilions. Great place for kids birthdays (play grounds are very far from water). But my absolute fave- hiking trails. Gravel paths, elevated boardwalks, bird blinds, great for cycling, jogging, walking, super dog friendly. I have yet to walk all the paths, which means a lot bc I love getting lost while hiking. Boat ramp isnt my thing, but I see it used very frequently. Oh! Take the animal warning signs very seriously! Hogs are out there for sure, and snakes are an issue on any hiking trail in the area. Those hogs tho... wow. Large herds.

To be fair, I used to drive a service truck and I have only had lunch here but I find it very peaceful and relaxing so I wanted to post this review... so peaceful in fact, that I make it a point to spend my lunch here even when it is a bit out of the way for me. It seems to be a great place for families to visit.

Challenger Park is a place to take your family to enjoy a nice day. There are tons of nice walking trails and its an overall amazing park.

This park is beautiful and relaxing. I have young kiddos, so we mainly visit for the play structures. I like how they are laid out and have suggested ages. Theres plenty of fun stuff to do at each one. There are also pavilions for parties or other gatherings. They have their own play structures which is a nice touch.One visit for is was close to dusk, and three deer came close to us to graze.There are beautiful, quiet, wild areas that are nice too. Weve taken family photos in the park because it makes for a beautiful backdrop.There are trails you can walk or jog that make you feel far away from the city. Theres also a pond to fish.

Beautiful park but they need to do major maintenance on pier has been shut down for at least 2 years. Sign says closed for maintenance. when are they going to fix it. You can tell that the park is going down hill. I have been going there for more than 20 years miss the old park. Grass is getting over grown threw out the park. The wooden nature trail is rotting as well. What happened????? The park used to be so nice.
