This place use to be a great place to visit but most of the wild life is gone. The grounds are really nice and it is great for reunions. They have a great air conditioned hall with restrooms. Full kitchen.
Theres not even anyone working there anymore. When my children were young we were able to take them on a nature walk and had an amazing day. Now you cant even get anyone on the phone to find out any information on when theyre open or not.
Little does everyone know it is owned by a very old man who is not capable of taking care of the maintenance problems. Instead of constantly downing the place how about volunteering or applying for the position???? Never thought of that huh? Its a beautiful place that people take advantage of
We enjoyed our trip to Obediahs Okefenok! Im hoping the owner will turn it over to the State of Ga one day. So much history and great 1800 memorabilia here. Its a great outing and it could one day be a better place to visit! I take my hat of to the owner, it requires a lot of work and upkeep, OK Georgias Historical Society, it needs to be restored, I want my Grand kids to visit. They still have some animals and we did see a big alligator!
A really great place to go to learn about life and living on the swamp in early times!!!
I visited this place for a family reunion. We have it there every year. Its a beautiful, historic place for a family reunion.I love it.
Awesome awesome and more awesome
It was quite loved looking at nature and Animals
Obadiah Barber was my many greats grandfather. The Strickland family reunions have always been held there. Grammys gone now... And Im 43 with grown children and 3 grandchildren of my own. Maybe theyll keep having them and find me again
This place is in very bad disrepair, most animal exhibits are empty, just general neglect all over from lack of funding maybe? There was only one person on duty for the whole place when we went (on a Saturday, gorgeous weather) but we did not see another soul while we were there staff or otherwise; there were multiple trees down across the outside exhibit areas, inside exhibits showed signs of months/years of neglect and many needed repair work done. It looks like there have been some educational exhibits done not too long ago but overall seems like this once jewel has been forgotten. We did get to see a lot of critters, some on exhibit, mostly just local wildlife. They had two mini donkeys, an emu, and some ducks, chickens, and peacocks.
This place is completely empty and barely anything to do except for a alligator, chickens and 2 donkeys. also 1 staff memeber, and there was only 1 trail not blocked off. but the gift shop was pretty good
This is a nice place for family reunions, they have an air condition pavilion. Theres a gift shop and a small zoo.
Clean, quiet, informative, all the antique things were great, we loved it
