Minooka Dog Park - went to the small breed dog area. Its a large area fenced off for the dogs to really stretch out and run. My dog loved it. At this time, the other dogs were very well behaved and the owners were friendly.
Nice trails. Dog park tends to have more aggressive dogs than other parks, which is a little off-putting. Also, people dont do a super job of picking up after their dogs. Overall, though. Dog park has nice wooded areas. Prefer Mukwonago dog park.
Pretty nice play for hiking/biking and skiing pretty diverse areas, some out in the open, some in the woods. Flat areas, hilly areas. All things that in my opinion make up a good hiking area. Just went on a 7 mile hike here and have had other within similar distance as well. There is a pond you can swim in in the summer and ice fish in the winter careful that the ice is solid enough before you walk on it. Overall a really nice park but they charge you $5 to get in, however well worth it in my opinion, will definitely be back for spring and summer
Ive lived in Waukesha most of my life and I have never been a fan of this park. Its a bunch of little things that add up to that and are just to many to put here in a short review. Generally I only go there with family or friends and that just fine with me. I dont hate it at all. Just because Im not a fan Im not saying in any way shape or form dont go there. Right now getting out in nature to disconnect and decompress is a great thing to do to keep your sanity together.
Rode the mountain bike trail for this visit. The trail has obviously been designed, built and maintained by people who love and respect the sport. The trail makes good use of the available terrain, is challenging without being impossible for someone like myself with moderate off-road skills and a 25 year old mountain bike. Tight single track with just enough roots and branches and rocks to keep things interesting. Saw a volunteer crew working on a section of trail when we were there. Nicely done.
For a County Park, this park is huge. Lots of different terrain; hiking, biking, skiing, and horse trails abound. Piknic sites are available. Plenty of wild flowers and other flora. Quite a few shagbark hickory trees were dropping nuts. Great views of Waukesha County. Entry cost $5 for a senior day pass, yes Im there, $17 for a 1 year Waukesha County Parks Pass which will be available in November. Whether youre a child, adult, or a senior, make plans to visit; the fall colors are here.
Love going there. Wish they had a water supply other than bringing my only. Nice big spaces for them to run. We like going in the tree areas, but it was pretty buggy today.
Great MTB trails built by those who love to ride as much as we do. Plenty of open space for walks.
Favorite spot for dog play and hiking. Regulars are responsible and friendly. Weekends draw more first timers.
Nice place to spend the day or afternoon at. They have a nice beach to cool off at or you can walk some of the trails. Beach can get fairly crowded on the hotter summer days though.
Great dog park with extended area! Small dog section and large dog. For the most part dog owners are ones that can and should be allowed to take their dogs there. There are always those few that have no control over their dog.
Minooka is always well kept and beautiful! The reason I do not offer a full five stars is because of the dog park. Although it is beautiful and spacious it could really use a medium size dog breed area as well, as there is plenty space for it.Often people with dogs in the middle breed size are coming into the small breed section which is 0-20 pounds. When this happens people with small dogs under ten pounds are often forced to leave as their dogs could be injured. In fact my four pound dog was almost attacked this past week by a dog over 20 pounds in the small breed section. At the same time if the same people with mid sized dog breeds go into the large dog park they fear their dogs could be bullied as well. I think it would be a great compromise to split up some land and create a dog park with the three different size restrictions so that everyone can enjoy with less worry. And for anyone reading please do not bring aggressive dogs to the dog park off leash.
Minooka park was my first experience going mountain biking about ten weeks ago and now they added a lot more the last part Of the green trail is amazing I would definitely recommend this for beginners and kids if you like the last part dont miss the way to get up there. It is to the right and its a little path hope you have a great time
Its a nice park. They have 2 large breed areas and 1 small dog area. Ive only visited the small dog area. The small dog area is pretty much just a hill, which is hard for me since I need a hip replacement. There is shade. I think the large breed areas are better. Theres no water, however. There is an outhouse toilet nearby. I recommend this park. The people in the small dog area are very nice and respectful.
Great mountain bike trails. Easy to get to. Remember to buy a waukesha co. pass or bring $5.
I absolutely love going for walks in this park. You can design your experience, enjoying wooded, or prairie, or the pond. What you cannot avoid at this time is the great deal of dog feces. There is a separate, very large and very nice dog park at Minooka, with divided, fenced areas for large, medium and small dogs. Nevertheless, a number of individuals feel exempt from the leash laws. They bring their dogs through the back way, allow them to run the paths unattended, and leave the dog poop. There is now rather a lot, and it is hard to enjoy a walk when you are constantly dodging feces. We shouldnt have to throw our shoes out because some people who already have such a beautiful, dedicated dog park area feel so entitled as to treat the entire park like their own property that they care nothing for. It is clear that they care nothing for the health and well being of the community. To avoid most of this issue, enter through the front, and dont hike all the way back. When you encounter dog feces, please make a complaint so that this problem is dealt with.
A gem in Waukesha. Mtb trails are the best in southeast WI
We had my grantwins high school graduation party there last week. It was a very nice shelter which included attached bathrooms. The surroundings were beautiful & well kept. Everything was also very clean. We were very pleased & would highly recommend it.
Huge park with pretty wooded trails and a large dog exercise area.
Awesome family hike! Highly recommend any of the trails. Stroller friendly too.
We lovethis place fun to ride. Always a little busy though.
The OG mtb trails are getting better!
One of my favorite parks in Waukesha to go on walks at and have picnics. They have lots of covered picnic areas that are usually available.
Took our husky Taimyr for some water therapy. Was an amazing dog friendly water area so we could enjoy swimming with him and enjoy the scenery. Will come again.
Costs $5 for each car so make sure to make a day of it! Beach is small, recommend to visit on a weekday or cold summer day. Bathrooms are open, everything very well maintained
Paws down best dog park in the state. Taimyr gave 5 bones for this one. Well kept fencing, grass, and waste. Small dog breed area is massive. Big dog breed area is massive. Taimyr left and slept the rest of the day.
Nice dog park, hiking, and small beach. Make sure you have a Waukesha county park pass if you come often. The hiking trails get muddy when it rains.
This is a great gem in the waukesha county park system. First of all its massive--you can hike for miles. It also has multiple picnic areas and even a little beach. The reason I go is for the fantastic dog runs they have. Large areas, fully fenced in. Separate compounds for large and small dogs. Seems like there are always people there, so your dog will always have a dog buddy to play tag with.
Pay $5 to get in. Swimming area is a small dirty pond. The longest trail route is 3 miles and you cant really get a nature feel with the cars passing by and the power lines buzzing. Bathroom was clean and trail was maintained well. Picnic areas seem nice. Didnt use bike or horse trails or dog area, so that could add value. For hiking or swimming, this isnt the stop.
Well maintained, nice walking trails and excellent mountain biking trails. There is a daily fee but its reasonable for the experience.
Awesome county park, if you mountain bike they have two really good trails. One more for beginners and one intermediate. They have beach too which is ok.
This park has it all: Beach & swimming area, 2 fenced in dog parks, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, horseback riding trails, cross country ski trails, picnic pavilions, sand volleyball court, bathrooms, rolling hills, fields and wooded trails. I love this park. Its a hidden gem in Waukesha and I highly recommend checking it out.
First time having to pay to enter a county park but when I entered I saw why. Beautiful very well maintained park.
They have great mountain biking trails, good level of technicality and its nice that they have a picnic area by the trails. I would recommend for beginners and advanced riders as they do have some hard obstacles and its overall just a fun trail. They even have a vending machine with parts and a hose to wash down your bike if the trails are wet and you bike gets muddy
From the pond to the woods to the top of the hills its very pretty. The dog run is incredibly huge with hills, trails trees and brush. Very well maintained.
Large park, camping, hiking, mountain biking, swimming (lake), horseback riding..its beautiful here.
Everything is really good, but restrooms close so early, dont know the reason.
We took five kids to the beach and fishing. Everybody had a great time! A fun beach and we caught a few small fish to throw back in. A great park just three blocks from our house
Beautiful dog park and very nicely maintained. People and their dogs have always been friendly there. We go there at least a couple times a week.
Nice areas for dogs and very clean as far as you know what!
We bring our little mini poodle to the dog exercise area all the time
Its got something for everyone. Mountain Biking, Volleyball, a Beach, Hiking trails. Great place to spend an afternoon.
Nice place. Attended a church picnic and used their mountain bike trails.
Excellent park. Great paths to walk or bike. Very well taken care of as well.
Beauiful place to have a picnic and a nice walk around
Minooka park is one of the best parks in the state. Tons of trails, picnic space, great mountain bike trails, and top notch dog parks.
Great swimming, dog exercise areas, picnic areas with tables and grills plus flush toilets in swim area.
I have been going to minooka dog park since the gates opened on day one. I feel I get a better experience out of the park then my dogs. You always meet new people and make new friends. The dogs are always excited when its time to go up to the park.
My boyfriend & I were going to take our Golden Retriever to the dog park. It was closed, however we had a very nice time walking in the parks open areas as the sun went down & the sky turned pink. It was great. What a beautiful & clean park. Thank you.
My wife and I went for an evening hike through the he park. Trails were well groomed. This was my first time here. I was pleasantly surprised to find five picnic areas with spacious parking lots, ample restrooms at each picnic area plus a Mountain bike trail at picnic site number 5.
Minooka is arguably the most beautiful park in the Waukesha system, with Menomonee a close second. The trail system is excellent (including the relatively new addition of biking trails.) Maintenance is highly professional (as at all W.C. parks). Minooka is certainly large enough to break away from the weekend crowds. Try one of the tangential trails in the far southwestern section of the park if you are seeking a little solitude. If solitude is not what you want, the huge picnic areas throughout the park are ideal for big family gatherings and cookouts.
Almost always a joy. People here know dogs and canine behaviour. Naughtiness is caught in the bud. I occasionally have to remind people to pick up poop but that is RARE snd frankly, easy to miss since so much activity to watch, along with all the leaves. Only complaint is their website in regards to keeping updated in terms of whether open or closed. Sometimes indicates open, but after :30 drive, have found it to be closed. Usually occurs after much precipitation as it is hilly. From what I understand, they update the site 3x week, lastly on Thursdays, so if much rain, ice or med expected, Id pass as most likely will be closed.
Not young kid friendly. Decent dog park size. No play area for kids such as playgrounds. Place was pretty crowded for weekday. Pine is small. So overall mediocre park.
Great mountain bike trail with cleaning and repair station.
Great place to spend a day hiking, biking and fishing. Very nice trails but stay off after it rains because they can get pretty muddy also a huge dog park one for little dogs and one for big dogs. Worth the $30 yearly pass to get it.
Lovely park. Lots of space.
Great mountain bike trails at end of park road from entrance. Clean restroom facilities.
Enjoyed a short hike outside of our neighborhood, love the dog park
Clean water. Nice park
Trails have been updated and are awesome.
Enjoyed the water with my dogs for the first time.
Bikes, hikes, horses, pooches. Who could ask for anything more? We did the yellow 3 mile trail in the snow. It was lovely.
Super well groomed trails! We had a great time. It was beautiful and well marked
Very nice place for hiking or skiing, large area with all kinds of terrains.
Clean, friendly, and bug enough for any dog or outdoor outing!
Nice park, with great trails and a dog park, two areas one for bigger dogs and the other for the smaller dogs plus you can swim there as well
The park is clean and family friendly. My family has been going to this park for more than 15 years and the improvements over the last few years have been great. Some of the locations have running water and flushing toilets. Great for doing family and church events.
Awesome 5 mile singletrack mountain bike loop! Trail crew has done great getting this trail in perfect condition. Rode 2 laps and only stopped because it got dark. Great rock features with bypasses for almost every technical element if so desired. Definitely one of my favorites! Great job trail crew!
Came here for a party at the dog park and it didnt disappoint. A bunch of friends brought their dogs, fold up chairs, something to drink and lots of water for the dogs. Enjoyed sitting and visiting with friends while the dogs had a blast running around. If you dont have a park sticker than youll have to buy a day pass to get in.
Its pretty and amazing for a picnic with family
Love this place...
Great place to take a hike
It has a lot...beach area, walking trails, bridle trails, grilling areas, off leash fenced in dog areas, archery open fields for kite flying
Love the mountain bike trail. The first time I tried it was the same day I made a donation to metro mtb, who maintain the trails.
We have been going here for years. We love the fenced in dog area. Especially the separation of large and small dog breeds. The park rangers, when present enforce the rules about this. If not, be sure that dog parents will. As well as say something about people not picking up after their dog.Now I know it is not perfect, but more is done here about it than most other places I know. It is disappointing when no responsibility is taken.
County made extra passes with plow and salt on entrance ramp so spectators and club members could leave easily
Our family pet really enjoyed running in a wonderful forest type setting. The areas are separated by the size of your pet. All areas have plenty of area for your pet to enjoy.
Good place for the family even for families with dogs
I mean, its a dog park. Only gave it 4 stars cuz it kinda smelled like piss in spots.
We love to float around the lake in my latest impulse buy
Great park great beach
