Very interesting tour, I learned a lot. Friendly, well informed guides. This is the former home of Broadway actors, so some juicy gossip is never far away. Alas, another time, another world. Please wear your mask. Protect Wisconsin.

This was our fourth trip to Ten Chimneys over several years. Each time it seems to get better and better. I will say our docents/tour guides this time were exceptional in every respect. We had Beth, assisted by Diane, and I cant say enough about how knowledgeable, friendly, and kind they both were.

This was an unexpected treat. We hadnt planned a visit here, but found a brochure at the hotel we were staying at and decided to stop by. It was a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous during the glory days of American theater. A well conducted and interesting tour.

A really neat stop. We were driving through and had some time to kill. Noticed the sign on the side of the road and decided to stop. Never expected what it was. A cool building with lots of neat attractions. And there is a gift shop with lots of neat stuff

George was extremely knowledgeable and we enjoyed his guessing baiting game on theatre trivia to the four of us. We highly recommend a tour such as this for everyone. And thank you to his shadow, Robyn, and the receptionist, Janice. Very friendly and quite accommodating. Wonderful place!

Surprising. Never heard of this guy, but he significantly influenced acting.

My fiance and I toured here and although I love theater and art, it was fairly boring. The tour guides we on the older side, so it was aimed at an older crowd. It was very informative, but it was pretty expensive. The property is huge, but you only go into the home and studio. I wish we could have gone into other areas on the property.

My mother has a medical need to keep a small bag with her. We downsized as far as a wristlet but they still would not let us in. Terrible (and potentially illegal?) customer service. Meeting up with a large group later but definitely won’t recommend this place to them.

The tour I went on was with an animated guide who was dressed in period clothing which gave me a feel that I was invited as a guest to explore this architecturally interesting and beautiful home of the Fontaines.

A National Historic Landmark, Ten Chimneys is a gem hidden where no one would think to look. Located in Genesee Depot, just south of I-94 and west of Milwaukee, WI, it served as home for Broadway actors Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt and country retreat for a host of Broadway, Hollywood, and international talent. Anyone interested in theatre will love the estate tour. Our exceptional volunteer docent illuminated decades of history at Ten Chimneys on a two-hour walking tour of the estate. The estate is open to the public seasonally, roughly May-November. The visitor center appears accessible to all ages. If you plan to tour the estate, the staff strongly recommends reservations, considerable walking and stair climbing are involved, and its not a tour for children under 12. In addition to tours and interpretation, Ten Chimneys Foundation hosts a variety of programs target for theatre students and professionals, and others open to the public.
