Bowen Park is one of the best parks in Lake County. It’s a great place to take the family. Plenty things for the kids to climb on. A lot of room for picnics and cookouts. There’s also a really cool skate park.

Really big spider web, a lot of swings, and water fountains in the hot months. Also has picnic benches with a lot of grassy area, and even some outdoor exercise equipment. Over all very enjoyable park.

It was amazingly beautiful. Great creative playground. Hiking. Clean surroundings. A wonderful, well thought out park.

Really nice park with various activities. The formal Garden was recently re-done and it is a really great place for intimate ceremonies. It’s got beautiful gardens!

Its an absolutely gorgeous, sprawling park and possibly the most beautiful place in Waukegan. My dog, Esther, just loves it here! And, I love to see her smile as she runs free, stopping to smell every single flower she can.

Bowen Park is a nice place to go to parking ability lots of room lots of trees for shade for your vehicle good place to have a picnic and a nice playground for the kids and also an area for doing walks and exercising I like bowling Park exactly close to where I live

We love this park. We have come to Bowen Park for many years. We loved it when it had metal slides and a hamster wheel, we love it even more now. This is a great place to bring children of all ages. There is so much to do; climbing, sliding, swinging, digging. This place has it all. In the summer there is even a splash pad. There is a great walking trail and even picnic shelters. A great place to bring the family and time of the year!

I havent been here since I was a kid, but man is it cool now! Theres a small kiddie water park and the spider Web got better. It actually looks like a spider web now! I do miss the hamster wheel-dog house thing but the spinny cage thing is cool too. Now that there are kids in my life, Im going have to make excuses to go to the park more often.

Awesome place for kids to explore and play. A great walking track with strengthening stations along the way, choose your route carefully...Also found Ravine pathway. It was beautiful from what the dogs allowed us to see.

Oh my goodness the kids had a ball here! Lots of climbing, the Merry-Go-Round is enclosed with climbing ropes, great slides and even benches for people to sit while the kids are having wonderful time. Additionally there are picnic tables and a pavilion to actually sit down and eat any food you may have brought.

Its a park for all ages and has a good picnic area, skate park, spider web and some long tunnel slides among many other cool things.

Amazing improvements made over the last 2 decades. Very nice park and extremely well maintained. Bathrooms of course could use more attention but otherwise a great place for family picnics and playgrounds for kids.

Very clean and safe park. They have a nice picnic scene as well as a huge park, and they even have a nice skatepark. This place is a great attraction with great park design and plenty of places to play for the children.

Celebrated my sons 1st birthday here SEP 2019. Got to reserve the covered bbQ area which holds alot of people and has power outlets. Perfect setup to host a family or work function. The support I received from the Staff were second to none. They were very accommodating to my specific arrangement requests and friendly. They made what couldve been a stressful task of planning, easy.Mahalo! to the Bowen park staff for all your hard work!

Weve been going to the park since I was a child my kids love going cant wait for the summer so the water is turned on and we can have much more fun Im running in and out of that area I believe they do need some more picnic tables most people that go to have a party do not just use one table at all so it would be nice to be able for a lot more people to have a picnic or cookout

Great for small toddlers and big kids!Misses a little for the kids in between but definitely worth a visit!

Went to the top of the rope tower. This was the first playground exhibit I have seen multiple adults on. It looks like it could be a bit dangerous for kids if unsupervised, but as a huge proponent of getting adults to be more active, I am a fan.

Its fun. And safe. Most things are in viewing distance for kids and whatnot.

One of the biggest and most elaborate public parks youll see all for free. Definitely worth a stop with the kids. Plus in the summer they have sprinkler fountains that everyone is encouraged to use. You can also grill nearby as they have picnic areas with tables. Not sure if you have to rent one out though.

Very awesome playground (2 very long, steep slides). Garden kept up nicely. Only con, way too big of a crowd. By the time there was enough room for the kids to play comfortably, they were getting eaten up by mosquitos!

Grosche Field is one of the best places to play baseball in the entire Chicago area.

The kids love it so I do too. Its not the greatest park it just a fun park with lots of space to relax and lots of trees for shade in the summer. The hills are nice for sledding when you dont wanna drive to far from town. It would be nice if they made the water area bigger and added some more parking spaces and play areas. On a nice summer day it gets pretty crowded.

Bowen park has really fun equipment. Theres the rope climbing structure, huge merry go round, saucer swings, and long slides. Parents will go home sore and sweaty but longing to return.

Love this park. Its very nice and kept clean. Does get crowded but kids always have a good time here. There are some picnic tables to make the trip a little nicer if planned as so. Plenty of parking and families are always coming and going thus allowing kids to enjoy time on all rides. As with any park, watch over your little ones as kids of all ages are always running around and not watching over babies and toddlers. Nice place overall.

Big beautiful park. Onsite there is a multi level playground, baseball field, skate park, formal garden. There are several buildings, the Waukegan historical society, arts and music. Several events are held here. There are picnic shelters that can be rented for parties. Plenty of free parking.

Beautiful park hope the city can do more and fix or destroy the abandoned buildings there. Its looking very bad

Excellent playground for children. They need to post a sign telling older teens to NOT play on the kiddie playsets though. On several occasions little kids have been run off by groups of older teens acting obnoxious

Was a really cool place to take the kids for a day in the park. Now every clear day its overrun by those who dont speak English.

Great community events, wonderful playground for kids of all ages. Public restrooms available. Plenty of accessible seating and picnic areas. Has a decently sized skate park thats great for beginners and a baseball field. Quite a few nice spots for Pokémon Go, too.

Bowen park in Waukegan was super fun for everyone from 3 to 9 years old in my group.Bowen is a nature themed playground that integrated the forest as the theme. It has a huge climbing structure (spiderwebs), giant slides (log rides), fallen trees to crawl thru and little slides too. There is even a spindle like spinning web and lots of climbing structure. Theres a sandbox area with a pond motif and stepping stones along with a small slide and log for little ones. There is even a splash pad (oversized fungi mushrooms, etc design). There are just a few swings but an entire section are those fun disk like swings and then there are 2 baby and 2 regular ones.The park itself was filled with huge trees offering plenty of shady spots and picnic tables. There are decent bathrooms (no AC or shelves) but flushable toilets and a sink nearby the playground. There is a single drinking fountain, but Id suggest bringing a water bottle.The park is huge and there were other things we didnt get a chance to visit like the walking trail, a big skatepark, pavilions (for rent it seemed), a theater where they showcase plays, the Waukegan history museum, several historical cottages, etc. If youre aiming for the playground park in the north entrance lot to be closest.The location was south of the south end of Illinois State beach so perhaps worthy of a stop after or before a trip there if youre making an adventurous day long trip. Definitely worthy of a visit for kids up to 12/13 in my opinion. Best for kids from 3-10.

Very nice large park. Has a nice play area. They do have a lot of different events here. Very clean and well taken care of.

Big park. Kinda packed at times but the kids love it.

Feels like what a park should feel like. Not just some regular park. You will enjoy going here (any age) Im 23 & I went down the slide which was scary. Kids have guts going down those plus climbing the huge web you can easily notice while driving by or walking. Would TOTALLY recommend this park to create some memories, have a blast & feel like you were active when only being there for even an hour
