Cast beach on a sunny warm day what could be better. Parking on street, dead end through vast fields down from Watsonville. The beach is lined with beach mansions. Very loose atmosphere, skidding on boards the only activity other than walking out of sight. SUN! The best of the Bay sand wise

Nice clean camps.... had no reservations, and had no issues getting a spot.Staff helpful, and knowledgeable.I short walk to the beach, but great walk...I would definitely recommend!

Awesome beach for sand sculptures as you can go far down the beach, and make sand sculptures on an empty stretch of sand and have quiet time. The best time for sand sculpture photos is when the sunlight turns orange at sunset.

Great place to fly RC gliders, I have been flying here since the early 70s and the view is fantastic of the ocean and beach north and south and on a clear day you can see Moss Landing to the south and Santa Cruz boardwalk to the north. Camping is available at Sunset State Beach too but you should call ahead of time and make reservations.

This is a very underrated campground in my opinion. While you cant see the ocean from almost all campsites, a hike over a very high sand dune and you are a very uncrowded beach. Now the dune is quite a hike so only suitable if you are ready for a climb.

So very beautiful!!! Worth the drive. All parts of the facilities worked well, too. Drove down to the lower level parking lot and there was easy access to the stunning beach. There was lots space to play.

Love this beach. Lots of space to separate from other people and set up for the day. There is also a nice picnic area for day use available near the entrance, although, as of the end of September 2020, it (the picnic area) was closed due to COVID restrictions. This is a state beach so there are public restrooms and trash services available, but please be sure to pick up after yourself as the staffing is significantly lessened during the ongoing pandemic. This is a dog friendly beach, but there are leash requirements. This is definitely a spot to bring binoculars and cameras. Gorgeous views, lots of wildlife, and picturesque sunsets.

Beach is awesome and usually not very crowded.The only draw back is the very limited parking space, if they can extend to accommodate more vehicle it will be awesome

Great beach, very clean and has camp sites close to the beach. Best beach during Covid-19 as there were very few ppl. However, I recommend making a picnic basket, as there are hardly any places close by to eat.

Awesome less crowded beach. Best place to have family/friends outing, tent is allowed. Parking sometimes gets full, but field spaces can be utilized with local parking fee. Beach waves are clean, sometimes dolphins can be spotted at near far region. Excellent place for playing with waves!!

Being able to camp so close to the ocean was incredible. We had once in a lifetime lightning storms, but no guarantees for you. Some sites are kinda exposed with free trees, others are cosy. Bathrooms were handy and lit, and have hot showers

We got really lucky and got a campsite without reservations beforehand because someone cancelled so try to reserve a spot because theyre usually full. The views of the ocean are great and the campsites are super clean! Lots of services too like water, bathrooms, showers, and even cell service

Perfect area to view the Monterey Bay from the tip on Santa Cruz all the way down to Pacific Grove...on a very clear day. And the porpoises meandering between the surfers and the paddle boarders was pretty cool too!

Beautiful safe beach with nice parking close to the beach. Three of the 6 bathrooms were permanently locked so we had to wait. But a really nice facility. The outside shower is a real plus after playing in the sand.

Great for small kids, not very crowdy, waves are not high, flat surface good for running or jogging or walking. Great place to watch sunset and easy to find parking.

When I went it was windy but it was beautiful there are clams you can collect and find some small crabs. The sand is super soft too

Awesome clean beach, plus not much crowded. Parking is available at field in case the parking lot is occupied. Its good to go with tent, some cooking stuff etc.One of the best California beach.

Great and peaceful place, ideal to go with kids and stay at the sand. The state parking fee is $10 which.At the time we went there, people were following the social distance guidance and respecting each other.Definitely a place to go back and enjoy with your family and friends.

Pristine beach, not crowded, close to camping. Camping facilities are functional - shower is coin op 1.25 for 5 minutes.

Things that I didnt like about this campground were bad stickers, sloped camp sites and the walk to the beach. I had to wear socks and shoes the whole time. My dog couldnt walk on the campsite without getting stickers in his pads. Came home and there were stickers in everything, even our tarp.Alot of the campsites are on hills and slopes which makes tent camping pretty uncomfortable. This was not mentioned when we made the reservations. The walk to the beach is not easy. Forget taking anything down to the beach for comforts with the unstable stairway down. You can take a short drive to a parking lot but that takes the fun out of beach camping. Things I likes about the campground were the hot showers and that campground was very clean and quiet. The hosts and park rangers were very nice and helpful.

I can only rate it a 4 bc I was only there for a few moments. I went on a weekday so there werent many people. I absolutely loved it! It reminds me so much of SoCal beaches. Its a hidden gem and reality worth a visit if youre tired of Santa Cruz, half moon bay and Monterey.Definitely going there again

It really has everything you can imagine a beach to have. Love how its not over populated! Would definitely like to come back. Theres seals, bbq patios, bathrooms, and great sand.

Its the california coast it was great.

This beach is really nice. Its very powdery and almost no rocks are present. The sand and weather was very nice for mid-October. Parking is 10 dollars and theres really no other places to park, but thats typical of state beaches. The route up to the beach is very scenic with wide fields of sunflowers and strawberries and other greenery. It feels a little off road. Overall I really enjoyed this beach. There are signs warning of riptides, so that is something to watch out for.

Beautiful beach to wade and bbq... its nice here easy parking and spacious. Make sure you get here before 11am on the weekends parking is unlimited to about 20 cars

Beautiful beach... stretches out to miles and miles of coastline... so if youre up for a very long walk alongside the water, this is a perfect beach to comb. Absolutely breath taking sunsets.

Great first camping trip with our 1 and 3-year-old girls. Nicely maintained campground, close to the beach, and lots of great people camping there. The walk to the beach is a little bit of a trek down a very uneven path, though, so you may want to drive down to the beach if you have a ton of stuff or arent very sure-footed.

Its very peaceful here. Garbage cans empty, bathroom ok. No soap though and no paper towels either.

Very nice,family friendly,convenient facilities,not as touristy and crowded as Santa Cruz.

After a rough start with finding water for our rv - Brighton Beach dump station 8 miles north - and rude male ranger at the park entrance, we settled in for a wonderful couple days. Campground is quiet with easy access to view points for sunset watching and walking on the beach. Dogs are not allowed on the beach going south from access at ranger kiosk, but you can go north. Bathrooms are clean and our camp host, Randy, was friendly and helpful! We will be back.

Over the sand dunes lies Monterey Bay. Blue. Charming. A great place to camp. They are filling every other campsite a la Covid. Feels great.

Not crowded during the day, great for social distancing. At night the waves phosphoresce a brilliant blue.

This beach is beautiful and has a very nearby campground that I stayed at. The one thing you should know is that you have to walk up and down a sandy hill that can be difficult when transporting items.

Expansive beach where you could walk for miles. And you can camp here. Close drive to Santa Cruz or down to Monterey for day trips. Quiet spot to come back to.

Nice drive to the campsite along the road that goes through fields of broccoli, artichokes, and strawberries. Bathrooms are clean and there’s warm water. Showers are running on the quarter system I suggest you bring $2.50 per shower in quarters to not run out just when your hair is full of soap. Since I am a tent camper there were way too many generators ruining the sound of listening to the lovely ocean. However, that is not the fault of the state park. At least they have a 10 AM to 8 PM limit for using generators. Most campers were respectful of that time. This is not on the beach just to be clear. I walked from the campsite over the dunes and expected to be on the beach but it is actually quite a ways down so you’ll probably have to either have a long walk down which means quite a steep walk back up or drive your car down to the parking lot to use the beach. The beach is lovely with nice a.m.

We love this beach. Its very clean and big enough so you arent so close to other people, even on a busy day.

One of the most amazing beach in North Bay. Its clean free from any form of commercialization. There is option for camping but you have to reserve in advance if you are planning during peak days of the year. The park has parking fee of 10$. The beach have few barbeque pits as well. I love to spend the evening time their and enjoy the sunset.

Awesome place to camp along the beach, It gets crowded in the summer months, good luck with the reservations. The hill from the camp grounds to the beach can be asteep walk for the little ones or older people.

Beautiful soft sand beach to walk on for miles it seems. There are big dunes to hides between to block wind and tables tucked in to sit at and have picnics. It is roomy enough to not be stacked on top of each other and isnt usually crazy busy.

I love this beach because its never really crowded and its a beautiful walk to Moss Landing.

We went looking for new Camp spots and this is one that we will camp the beach is not too far from the campground but its a beautiful view nice and clean no dogs allowed

This beach is rarely crowded and is a great beach if you like to stroll, watch sunsets, or bring the family/friends out for beach games. You can easily walk for hours in one direction and not run out of beach. Very wide Sandy beach with plenty of room for whatever beach activities you plan. The beach faces west so ocean sunsets are easily viewable year round. There usually arent any surfable waves here and its a pretty shallow shoreline.

It just doesnt get any better. Beautiful beach for a long walk. Dont swim here, rip ride and strong currents

The beach was really beautiful, but be prepared to descend 4-500 feet in less than a 1/16 of a mile. The trek down the sand dunes is very steep. Other than that, great place for finding sea shells and drift wood. Open beach space for games, such as woofel ball, football, and frisbee. Signs say not to bring dogs in beach. Has hot/ warm showers, but you have to pay with quarters. 50¢=2 minutes, $1.25=5 minutes, $2=10 minutes. Overall great experience! Make sure to pick up trash such as plastic and glass you see on the beach!

The several times Ive been here had a great time with family and friends.I like it because its not too busy except sometimes on holidays the parking can be crowded and there is a charge. But for the quality of time you spend there its worth paying.

So many mosquitos on the beach. Ive literally never been to a beach with a mosquito problem
