Love Gore Place!!! They are so nice and knowledgeable about the mansion and grounds. Highly recommend Jane Austen parties, and any holiday events- frightful fridays, and other educational tours. The mansion is beautiful!! Only outdoor tours now and stargazing, but can’t wait to do the moonlit tours inside when it’s safe again post COVID.

We visited for a corn roast event. food was way overpriced (outside vendors, $4 for a single ear of corn?!) but music and crowd was fun. needs more promotion and focus to achieve potential

Attended their annual sheep-shearing festival today. It was loads of fun! The actual shearing was cool - they demonstrated both electric and hand-cut shearing techniques - but that was a small part of the whole festival. They also had demonstrations of spinning wool into yarn along with other crafts (basket weaving, smithing, metal crafting), herding with dogs, and a whole bunch of cool vendors and other demonstrations. Well worth a visit, and very kid-friendly. One of the sheep gave birth to two lambs when they started to shear her!In a few weeks theyll be having their annual plant sale, which is a fantastic place to get interesting and unique vegetables, herbs, and decorative plants for your garden. Lots of varieties that Id never heard of, and already sprouted & ready to plant. I plan to come home with a lot of plants that weekend! Staff and volunteers are all very friendly and knowledgeable as well.

We were invited here for a wedding. The food is average, the area is ok, the service for the cocktail hour was rather slow, so much so, that when a waiter for come out with ordevres, the guests would almost look like they were attacking them so the dish was almost empty by the time the waiter moved away from the entrance. In order to get any food we had to move our party to stand near the entrance. What is good is that it is closer than where we had our wedding on nashoba, so it was ready to get home after, but I still prefer our venue for the sights and the service. They do have ample parking.

Beautiful Historic venue to have a wedding, you should be good with choosing your vendors & have a knack for logistics! However the museum tours, property hayride on tractor & trailor which takes you all around 5 acres of history & nature with a farm area with animals!! Great for families, kids to history buffs!

Christopher Gore was a contemporary of The Founders of the U.S.A.. Friend of Washington, Franklin, Daniel Webster, Hamilton and many signers of the Constitution. Was an early industrialist and invested in Cambridges earliest industrial park. Invested in Lowells first mills. Financed the first Cambridge-Boston bridge across the Charles River. This is his country estate. As close to British 18th century estates as you can get around Boston. Tours are limited to a small schedule. Check their web site. Grounds and house are well kept. The house is magnificent.

We visited for the Sheep Shearing Festival and it was a great experience. The grounds are big and there were so many artisans and vendors to explore. We did not go inside the house but you can tour it. The parking and tickets were well organized and we did not wait long. I would visit again for another event.

We visited during Free Fun Fridays. The tour of the mansion was very educational. We were only shown the first floor. I understand other tours include the second floor, but not that day (likely due to the expected crowd). Our visit inspired us to do several web searched to find out more about the Gores and Gore Place. Thanks for being part of the Highland Foundation Free Fun Friday program!Im not sure why, but we were only allowed to take photographs outside and in the foyer during the tour. There were plenty of other missed photographic opportunities inside.

The best historical home Ive visited in New England so far. Its the oldest, most authentic, most interesting architecturally -- and theyre constantly striving to improve the historical accuracy of the property. I cant wait to go back when they uncover the nations first indoor toilet. (Really) Or when they install plexiglass to the heaters in the basement which vented into the laundry room. Our docent was the most knowledgeable and gave us a thorough your well worth the money.

A historic and neat museum of sorts. The main house at Gore Place is able to be experienced via a guided tour. Many interesting rooms, great architecture and a huge area of land to meander about on. The tour is quick (under 1 hours) so while it is not a full day trip, it is worthy of seeing. The location is easily accessible via an MBTA bus route that drops you off about a 5 minute walk from the house.
