Great easy to moderate trail that is local for me. Its a great way to get out and get that workout in while gyms are closed. Great for families, kids, and pets. However, I do advise caution, I have spotted a rattlesnake on the trail. Just read up and have the knowledge to stay safe.
I love going on jogs on this trail. Beautiful views and great way to get outdoors especially with restrictions on gyms.
Beautiful lookout, and super easy. Takes about 1 hour to get to Grand Ave on a regular average pace. Good for the whole family. Try going at night
Schabarum Trail is a wide hiking trail that overlooks the San Gabriel Valley. The trail is wide and smooth, which makes it ideal for walking and running. If you start the trail from atop Smoke Tree Ln, you will first encounter a series of switch-back curves. There is also a plateau where you can have some great views of the valley. In the middle of the trail, you will encounter a picnic area with wooden tables. It is on top of a small hill, so you can see a wider view of the west. On clear days, you can make out the tall buildings of Downtown Los Angeles. The trail has a series of hills, but they are not too intense. The trail is perfect for an afternoon hike or jog.
Views of the mountains to the north and downtown LA on the west. Unfortunately it was too smoggy to see it! Great wide path trail. Fit for kids!
Fell in love with this trail. If you want a bit more of a challenge, start at the base on Amar, as it gets fairly steep. The views after that segment are breathtaking - covina can be seen in its entirety and you can get a glimpse of the L.A. skyline off in the distance. Dont remember how I was gonna finish this but its bomb so just go.
This is my go to place to go for a hike and clear my mind, the beautiful views of nature will take your breath away.
Wonderful hike in the city of Walnut, we were there on a Sunday afternoon so we had the trail to ourselves, it was the perfect walk, easy access and easy for any age.
Trail wide enough for social distancing
Nice love it see coyotes and gophers rabbit snakes squirrels
Great for a run! Dog friendly hike
To start at the begining of the trailhead is not difficult just more of an annoyance. There isnt direct immediate parking by it. You either park across the street in one of the neighborhoods or drive a little and park at the closest park and walk your way to the trailhead. Its about a 5 minute walk from the park to the trailhead so again not a huge deal. But starting at the trail we went straight and to the right. Spend a good mile on an incline going thru overgrown plants. There were tons of flowers around so obviously careful with bees. But once we got past the jungle it was more of a neighborhood dirt path/sidewalk for the next 2 miles or so until it loops you back to the begining of the trail. Talk about urban hiking. Overall I wouldnt do it again.
Very short trail but beautiful views. The trail doesnt have any trees so there are no shades for you to cool down to. I wouldnt recommend coming here when its 80 degrees and higher. There is a nice rest stop that has tables and seats you can hang out at, but it doesnt have a nice view. It has tall plants thats literally covering the view. If you live around the area, its a nice place for a nice stroll with kids and dogs.
My kids love it The H Fam Bam YouTube to check out the trail.
Great short hike! Wear a hat on hot days, there is hardly any shade.
Its the perfect place to abandon your brothers Lebaron.
Its a 3 mile trail. Very nice to run
Very convenient location and has trails for MTB, walking and horse riding.
This is my happy place!! Love mother nature
Alongside river bank, more bird in there
NIce hiking trail ..... a lot of ups and downs but there are some great views.
Nice trail to walk. Good exercise to be had walking the hills.
Too many people on this Trail without face coverings
Easy trail & nice view
What a gorgeous view here. The trail is extremely easy and very scenic. I really liked it and plan on coming back. The parking is a bit hard to find because it is a residential street on the drive up but you should be okay. It was almost empty when we came mid afternoon. The whole area is very quiet and peaceful. There are slight dips on the trail and a tiny bridge which was nice. Keep an eye out for any critters as well, signs are posted but be mindful
Really nice view of LA.
Great views
Beautiful trail on a clear night!
Clean, wide walking/jogging trail.
Its extremely a good place for a hike or walk. You can bring animals along for a companion. At night has a beautiful view to look at with your partner.
THIS IS THE PLACE! If you want to catch a sunset that is fantastic, or walk at any time feeling not only safe, but isolated from the city, THIS IS THE PLACE! Trails are wide, and very well groomed. From one side of the tail you can see all of the San Galleria Valley, and the other lookout point you can see what I think is La Habra. There is a picnic beach at a 1/3 way and lots of lovey vegetation to look at.
Good Trails
Trail was maintained nicely. Not a good hiking trail in the heat. Not much shade.
Nice walking trail
This was actually an awesome little trail, unexpectedly! It starts out OK but once you get about half way in the views start to get better and better! I really enjoyed it. It is uphill and slightly difficult at first but then it levels out and becomes a nice little walk.
I love my Hikings and the view. Very few people go hiking Schabarum trail. Once in a blue moon you get to see a coyote I havent seen a snake yet. Ive been hiking for two years now. Its a safe place for hiking.
Easy trail with a great view.
A very nice clean walking trail. It was 3.92 miles with great views of the 10 freeway cities and the 60 freeway cities
Great place to go and do a small hike if you are a beginner or if you are just looking for an easy stroll. They have many trails in which you can go too, unlikely for one to get lost as long as you follow the designated trails. Yoh can see horses at the begining of the trail. DOG FRIENDLY
Came here last weekend and now it’s my favorite hiking trail. Fresh breeze, awesome view, fairly secluded... what more can you ask for.
Difficulty: ModerateDistance: About 3.5 milesHighlights: A mysteriously wrecked car along the trail, scenic viewsPark for free at Walnut Ranch Park and take a short walk heading west on Amar to find the entrance to this hidden gem. There is a conspicuous sign that marks the start so you cant miss it. While the first half of the hike is a good workout that is filled with uphill switchbacks through dry brush, the latter part is mostly flat and/or downhill that takes you through what seems to be the big backyard of a residential community. Make sure to wear sunscreen because there is very little shade along the entire trail. There are a few overlooks near the latter part that provide nice views of surrounding cities. The best thing about this hike - youll find more peace and quiet here than at hikes such as Cahuenga Peak. One more thing, how did that Chrysler LeBaron end up at the bottom of the ravine?!
Rough uphill climb that seems endless, but the moment of relief when you see that flag and the feeling of accomplishment when you reach that flag are worth it.
SERENE
