This was an amazing visit during our stay in Walla Walla. We loved the amazing exhibits but mostly the outdoor exhibits. They have a playground that our kiddos were able to play on in between looking around. I definitely recommend going to the gift shop and sampling the mustard. There was a wonderful lady who had checked me out, and showed me the calendar of events that take place there. We are considering stopping through here again on our next vacation. Such a lovely place!

5 buildings of artifacts plus a frontier village. The grounds include military memorial items. A great way to learn a lot of local history in a couple hours. Agriculture, military, frontier life, the state penitentiary. Especially if you catch one of the free presentations.

My husband and I took our 5-year-old and we had a good time. I wish there had been some interactive activities, but I understand that we had just missed a festival where a lot of exhibits were opened up for exploring and there were booths set up for kids to do all sorts of things. We went on the Monday just after the festival and it was very quiet. We had the place pretty much to ourselves, and that was nice in its own way. Lots of really interesting things to see, plus two large play areas with big toys to climb around on.

We planned to do a 45 minute visit to the Fort Walla Walla Museum, however spent over three hours touring all the exhibits and out-building facilities. From pioneer days through when it was a US Army Air Force bomber training base in WWII, there are hundreds of interesting exhibits to see here.

Stay to the paved walk ways to ensure safety of family. Ft Walla Walla seemed to have become a popular homeless hangout if you will. I have had friends robbed, and heard of females being assaulted both verbally and physically... Travel in pairs. Be safe. Washington is an open carry State.

So many things to see! A huge variety of things from local military history, agricultural history of the area, cabins and homes of the style people used while settling the area. Period clothing, items and pictures ranging from the Oregon Trail era to WW II. Flags that were flown during that time. The agricultural history is well covered. Including a life size setup of a 33 mule team. It was amazing! Since we dont live locally, we depended on GPS devices. If you do that too, you may end up at the waste water treatment plant. Give the museum a call. They will get you there. Wonderful staff! Thank you for all your help Mary!

Didnt get to see everything, although we were few mintues late after they were closed for the day. Decided to walk around and check for ourselves as we were just strolling through the city heading back home in Tri Cities. There is the WWI or WW2 cannon displays off to the side and my son stuck his hands inside and got stung by a wasps... everything is blocked off by fences so its not all the other cities where you can just stroll through yourself to take pictures. Well have to try again ourselves someday once they are open in order to see everything.

Very interesting museum with a lot of information on local history. Main building is well organized and things are labeled with good descriptions. As you go to the other buildings, they seem more like storage locations than part of the museum; lots of farm machinery that isnt labeled very well. The houses are interesting, but I do wish there was more to read about each one as well.

I have a special interest in the Museum. I enjoy learning the history of the area and theres so much of it here. They have a new exhibit now - the engine of Dorsey Bakers Blue Mountain railroad. Very interesting history to this piece. It will be rebuilt back to original condition. Its just a boiler on wheels now. Lots of work to do. If youre a railroad buff heres a chance to be part of restoring history.

So interesting! Many exhibits showing history of region, arts and crafts of people groups in the area, and much about farming, including big warehouse-like spaces with huge farm machinery from eras past. There is also a space circled with original settlers cabins which they have moved to this location like a little settlement. Highly recommend for all ages.
