Great little walk/hike. Terrain is rough but not too bad. Do not be afraid to explore. Lots of awesome rock formations to see. Wear walking shoes if you can as some of the rocks are sharp and you could easily get hurt. The blow hole was awesome. Make sure you have time to hang out to watch the blow hole. Sometimes it takes a minute to get a good blast of water. No Coke served here

Amazing hike thats out of this world! The mist from the blow hole has eaten away at the rocks over thousands of years so it feels like walking through an alien acid war zone. Follow the Jeep path until you reach the beacon (lighthouse like thing), hike down the hill to the right of the beacon, turn right at the bottom, then adventure through the acid war zone rocks until you reach the Nakalele blowhole. (Theres a smaller blowhole thats kinda in the side of a cliff - dont let that one fool you, and keep going until you reach the real one)

This trail feels like youre walking on the moon. Huge jagged pumice volcanic statues, fields of grass, hidden blowholes, incredible views, and waves exploding 20 in the air against the rocks. Go even if its raining... Totally worth it!

This is an amazing place. The area leads into the Nakalele Blowhole area but not before going through an area straight out of Land of The Lost.

This was an outstanding get away. Just driving to this spot had great views. Once there the hike wasnt that difficult but Im an avid adventurer. My mother in law had a difficult time so older couples should be careful but can still make it. So cool, views, rocks, terrain and the ocean, not to mention the couple of blow holes

The whole family had a great time exploring these trails, almost 5, 9, and 11 year olds. Lots of short trails to check out, steep hills to run up and down, muddy streams to jump over, and beautiful scenery all around.I would definitely go back. The drive from Kapalua is gorgeous, with various scenic overlooks and trails down to the different bays.

Beautiful, tranquil location about 20 minutes drive from the Kaanapali resorts. Makes you feel connected with nature. Make friends with other visitors and locals selling fresh coconuts, breads, jelly, homemade dried fruits. Take the drive, it will be memorable! Leave with a calm and inner peace that is unattainable in city living!!!

We didnt do the full trail, just a bit of the start where you have e a nice view of the bay. Its very peaceful as not too many people were here when we came, so we enjoyed a quiet snack of fresh fruit we purchased in Honokohau Bay. Pretty location, not far from Nakalele Blowhole though the trail will take you there. There was a little stand in the parking area on the side of the road called Julias Banana Bread, but we didnt try them. They were selling banana bread, some drinks, and some fruit.

Challenging. Not the first hike you should do when coming to the island. Work up to this. But then do it! It was fascinating and such a great experience.

Super cool hiking area to explore while all other tourists go to the blowhole. This hike gives great coastline views and views of a smaller blowhole and the bigger tourist filled one. Definitely wear shoes as theres some loose dirt hills that would be tough in sandals.

Absolutely worth it to take this trail down to the blow hole. The walk down was better then the blow hole itself. It is not as busy and you can get lost in the landscape. Trail was not as well marked and it is easy to get off course.

This is a pretty strenuous hike. Be prepared. There are no signs, paths, guardrails, etc. But the reward is a totally natural and totally amazing experience of the power of nature. You will fumble around trying to figure out which way to go. But that’s part of the adventure.

Got a great passion fruit lemonade from magic man and headed out on this scenic trail to the blow hole. This area seems to be an off road vehicle track for the locals, so theres multiple paths going every which way, which can be confusing. If you head in a general NE direction and head uphill when you can it doesnt matter what path you take, youll get there. Totally worth it!

This was an amazing landscape full of interesting rock formations accompanied by incredible views of the raging ocean and shoreline. The blowhole was going pretty good the day we went. There is a lot of scrambling over rocks going up and down the hillside so wear appropriate shoes. I wore hiking sandals.

Done this trek twice, this time with kids so we didnt go to the ocean side blow hole. We went up top to the ridge which is directly up from the blowhole and got a great view. Its always windy there. Lots of surf so theblowhole was jumping. We cooled off with some awesome lemonade and banana bread from Julias which was in the parking lot.

Really neat area, definitely be prepared with sturdy footwear as there are some loose sediment regions as well as rough rocky areas. We initially didnt realize we were on a designated trail as we made our way towards the Nakalele Blowhole. What was extra exciting, but also slightly frightening, was the wind and rainstorm that rushed in while we were up there. The view was so breathtaking with the multicoloured sediment and rock juxtaposed with the ocean and sky. We were no longer interested making the rest of the way to the blowhole because this trail had us entranced.

Great easy trail to the blowhole. Recommend shoes instead of sandals though.Parts are unmarked, with multiple trails converging but just keep heading right when facing the ocean and you get there.

Review №55

There are NO trail markings. Before you go, load offline maps in Google and also check the satellite view to know the hiking path. Parking lot is small, just enough for ten cars. The trail is somewhat predictable up to half way, because of tire marks from ATV(?). That leads you to an old steel tower. After that, you will have to scramble down through an area of small rocks. The blowhole is visible only when you are very close to it. The hike is not tough, but wear closed-toe shoes. The blowhole is interesting. Kept blowing for a height of 20 feet while we were there.

This trail is poorly marked as a way to see the Nakalele Blowhole, but probably the better way to get there. Follow a deeply rutted dirt road (lots of mud puddles) leading to the east to what suddenly looks like you landed on Mars. Make your way down a lava rock stream bed then bear right. Youll pass lots of people wondering if they are going the right way. Also a minor blow hole and youll wonder if thats it. ( It isnt) If you havent found a vent where geysers shoot 30 ft in the air every 60-90 seconds keep going. Wear good shoes too, the cross between muddy paths and slippery rocks can be problematic.
