Definitely not a five star gym, however they have a wide variety of facilities to work out however you see fit. Staff are all very friendly and really push the family feeling of the place; receptionist even greeting those entering and exiting by name! How sweet!Tl;dr: good place to workout and feel part of a friendly community
The front desk staff is friendly. I go for the pool. And live Beckys Tuesday/Thursday evening classes. The life guards, Piper and Will, are nice also
The best gym in all of Waco with a steam room and a pool and a fitness pool two basketball courts friendly staff
Post COVID- I go for water aerobics. They have an excellent safety protocol in place. Before entry, your temp is checked & you must sanitize your hands. Masks are worn anytime you are moving about the facility. The staff is amazing! They are doing everything possible to keep members safe & healthy!! I love my YMCA!
Always pretty clean and has a lot of nice people working and just visiting as well
Love the therapy pool. Just the right temperature.
The Y is handling COVID very well. I appreciate having a safe place to work out!
Great experience! They are reopening safely and it was a joy to be back in the therapy pool again!
Its a great place to workout, but I wish they didnt book the gym so much for classes and basketball programs. I understand its good for the community. I just wish one of the courts or even half of one was available at those times.
I love the y its a workout place aint no telling what u gonna smell but I love going if u care about your health
Exercise equipment and facilities are good. However, these are the nastiest dam staff members I have ever seen, they are rude and according to the Silver Sneakers customer service personnel there have been many complaints over the years of ethnic biased treatment. Hopefully they will cancel Costco YMCA out of their plan soon. Loose customers and slowly go down hill.
The basketball gyms go hard the staff here are awsome people if u want a membership get it! but if u play basketball their u better come with it quick people dont play on them courts
I signed my step daughter up for swim lessons. Instructors are teenagers, BUT they are good with the kids and help them to have fun. My problem came just today. I am a first time mom and am breastfeeding my 1 month old son. I had to bring him with us to the lessons so I made sure to ask the front desk employees what the policy is for breastfeeding. I was told that I could breastfeed wherever I needed to. Near the end of the swim lesson I had to feed him. It is crazy hot in the pool area so I went to find a private and cooled area to feed my son. I used the womens locker room which has a sign for no kids under 18. BUT Im pretty sure that is for privacy of the women, and I am a woman looking for privacy myself apart from an unsanitary childrens locker room where I wont be starred at by a bunch of children trying to understand what I am doing. While I was in there a couple employees came in and out didnt say anything about it and even had conversations with me about my baby. Even the women who were there all had pleasant conversations with me about my baby. When I had finished feeding him and was packing up to leave an employee (older woman with short grey hair who was from the desk by the pool area) came in and approached me in the rudest way from across the locker room. She was practically yelling at me in front of other people telling me I wasnt allowed to have my baby in there. I informed her I was just trying to breastfeed, she didnt help me or even say Im sorry but can I help you to another area. She just told me I couldnt be in there in a demeaning and disheartening way. Needless to say.... I left this YMCA in tears and will not be returning with my family ever again. Being a first time mother and my first time breastfeeding in public, I am completely horrified and offended about the way I was approached. I thought a family-friendly facility would be much more friendly.
They have a youth gym and an adult gym. Yet every night kids fill up the 18+ only gym and make it impossible to even enjoy the court let alone play any real basketball. The staff here just doesnt care.
The best place for the family but they have to care kids on Sunday to
I am new to the WACO YMCA. I started my membership this month and Im very disappointed. In the aerobics room most of the equipment is filthy, rusted and outdated. The mens showers do not appear to have had a thorough cleaning and quite a long time. For the 3rd time I have experienced problems with the steam room where it will not come up to temperature yet the panel outside the steam room indicates that its on and should be functioning. The weight room machines have several seat and back pads that are torn and damaged. This is one of the most expensive gyms in the Waco area and yet, from what Ive have seen throughout the area, they are the most poorly kept. If it wasnt for the pool, I would have no interest in keeping my membership. Something must be done to keep up the standards of the YMCA that I have experienced in other cities.
Staff in the front is always way too rude at first and always has an attitude no matter how you greet them. Other than that there are a couple gems working there and lockers rooms are nice.
The place is fairly clean but the equipment is old and crummy. Some of the employees are really rude. Today i saw an employees car in the senior parking spots. To top it off all the senior spots were filled. I sure hope the other cars parked were legitimate senior citizens. The only reason I still have the membership is so my kids can swim. The pool is kept clean and my kids really enjoy it. As soon as we have a pool built at our house we are quitting.
Glad to be back!
The sauna and steam room is great. The place is ran down. The jacuzzi hasnt been working for a week. I asked when its going to be fixed they said 2-3 weeks. For the price they charge it should be done by a couple of days. They really need to get a cleaning crew in there. The fans are so thick of dust its disgusting. They dont clean on the weekends. The changing room looks like it havent been vacuumed in months.
My grandkids are going to the Summer Camp at the VLC location. They love it. The employees are excited to see the kids when they arrive and then when I pick them up, their excited about going the next day. Its a super feeling seeing them so excited to have something to do for the summer months rather than sitting at home on ipads or computers. Much more educational and better for them. Thank you Family Y for this program. I know they will be back next summer too.
Child watch is good, lots of toys and feels like a little daycare. Equipment in cardio room is real good. Equipment in weight room is pretty good. Golds is better, but way more expensive, and way busier during peak hours. Folks are nice here, and we really like being members.
I love this place! My family recently joined as members here. My children love the swimming pool and cardio room. Sports here are awesome too!
Other than the Hispanic girl the entire staff is overweight and a poor example of fitness. Some of the eomployees are douchebags (old Hispanic guy and redhead old lady). Equipment could be better, basketballs are all damaged and terrible. Smells like body odor at the front desk area in the mornings. Could be improved with better staff imo.
Enjoyed my time there greatly
First time there. Im keeping my neice and nephews this summer and they have fantastic classes, a game room, and a computer lab for them to use while I work out. Will definitely become a member!
They should not be allowed to provide childcare. The children that are in charge of the smaller children are rude and unprofessional. They should be ashamed of themselves and if they cannot do a better job then they need to find somewhere else to work. There is no way I would have my child in that program no matter how cheap it is!
I go to this Y primarily to play racquetball. The courts are not very well maintained and often the court doors do not close and latch and the glass shields are not properly assembled. The courts are super busy in the afternoon, so there is definitely demand for nice courts.
This place is horrible!!! I havent been here in over 6 years I brought my kids and told the lady at the front desk I would like to pay for my kids to swim, I dont want a member ship i just want to pay for the day, she says yes that would be fine what is your name and birthday, I told her and she said I have a balance from 2012 I need to pay that in full or I cant bring my kids in! Bad business not friendly very in professional!!!!!
Staff and arrogance make the Y less than it should be. Past that patrons are pretty nice and cleaning staff does a great job. Good variety of equipment.
Not helpful when needing something but I the building is cool.
Busy, as most YMCA branches are. Needs more youth swimming programs, such as drown-proofing. Towels like tissue paper, parking is confusing. Security lights need brighter bulbs. Outdated brochures in the front, update. Need new manager, perhaps.
Would recommend to anyone; knew a lot of people who chose this Y as their gym
I booked a room for my sons first birthday party. I paid to have the room from 3-6. We arrived at 3 exactly to begin decorating for a party starting at 4. We were told to wait for a previous group to decide to stop lounging and coming in and out of the room for their completed party. We waited 20 minutes in the lobby and then went into the room to clean up regardless of a few people in there refusing to leave much less tidy up after themselves. This is after I had to entertain a random crack headed man and word salad conversation because I couldnt be in the room we paid to be in decorating and arranging. I was flabbergasted by the room. It was filthy. Disgusting. Food everywhere, everything out of sorts. We had much to do without cleaning the mess and our guests arriving in less than a half hour. The woman that had it previously and wouldnt leave or clean up her filth told us we didnt have any right to be in the room that we had paid for weeks prior. She said someone messed up at the desk when booking. (Not sure how this is our problem) Come to find out the woman that had the room previously worked there! and didnt mind treating us terribly and blaming others for her mistake. Apparently She decided to add time to her party a week after we had booked to be in there and the scheduler had permission from the boss to schedule our party well after hers. I would never, ever recommend renting a room here or stepping foot on this premises because people in association with this business obviously dont mind being trashy and inconveniencing as well as poorly treating paying customers. Would have been nice for my hardworking husband that paid to clean up other peoples mess and me to enjoy our sons day more not to mention the many guests that showed up to an unfinished room that we drove six hours and went out of our way to come to and prepare. I am sickened by my encounter. The lack of remorse from every single person we encountered working here is disgusting. I hope this place shuts down.
Parking is good. Weight room and pools are ok. Group classes are ok. Locker rooms are so so: I reported a plugged up shower stall and one month later it has not been cleansed, with the problem persisting. Somehow kids and youth are allowed to roam in the shower/bathrooms that are clearly marked 18 or older. Not cool to change clothes with unaccompanied 4 year old kids watching.
There’s a lady that’s working the front desk that needs to learn respect for people thought that was a core value at the y
Steam dry sauna, jacuzzi . Shower area a bit run down . Good classes . No towel
Always love coming to the YMCA on Harvey friendly, helpful staff and tons of workout equipment
Love it! I love the turbo kick class the most!
Me and my family cant get enough of the YMCA they are so friendly and helpful

Couldn’t love this place more!!! It’s the best!!
Been coming here my entire tenure in Waco. Has everything that a middle aged man such as myself would want in a fitness facility.
Operators are rude. After school never answers.OverpricedTheyve lost their original mission. They dont even deserve the one star.
Bunch of nazis work here
