This place is amazing. Its a big off leash dog park. You dont have to worry about other people not liking dogs while youre here and your dog has so much space to roam and explore. Even with all the cars in the parking lot on a nice Saturday morning, there was more than plenty of running space and trails for all the dogs. Wish there was a place like this closer to our home!

Among all the dog parks in the great Madison area (and by that, I mean of course the ones Ive visited with my dog), Prairie Moraine stands out. Its huge (the perimeter trail is approx 1.8 miles) with crisscrossing trails sufficient to allow you to avoid problematic dogs and still have lots of social opportunity - or near isolation if thats what you prefer. The trails are mostly wood chips or grass and are well maintained. Theres a woodsy feel throughout. A great experience for both the people and the pups!

Best off-leash dog park in the area! Hills, prairies, forest...just lots and lots of space for dogs and humans to walk/run/play/socialize. Were so fortunate to have this in our area.

Wonderful area for your dog to run and roam off leash. This was my very first visit to Prairie Moraine and we didnt want to leave. We brought our 80lb Aussie Mix and he burned so much energy that he slept the whole way home. This park has many fields, trails and beautiful views for the whole family to enjoy. My 2-year-old daughter really enjoyed this park as well. Even though we attended on a very cold and muddy day, I was impressed with how clean this park was. There are benches and waste bins all throughout the park as well. My family and I have decided to make this park a weekly adventure. I highly recommend!

Huge dog park with many trails for lots of distance options. Well maintained trails, mostly wood chips with gravel driveway to top of tower hill. Beloved by many, yet never feels crowded because of size of park. I love this park for a great connection with nature for me and great exercise for my pups.

Best dog park in the Madison area. It is a bit of a hike from downtown, but well worth it. Very big park and even if the parking lot is full, everyone gets spread out so you never feel like the park is packed. The park has both trails through wooded areas as well as big open grassy areas .

Best dog park in and around Madison! Great trails for dogs and people, meditation benches and poetry stations for reflection. Even when there are a lot of cars, have no fear you can still get away from it all in a few special spots. You can also access the ice age trail from the park and take your dog on-leash for even more beauty. The sunset is great out there. Enjoy!

Hands down the best dog park in the area! The trails are wonderful and the place is huge with lots of space for dogs to run. If youre not sure if your dog will return to you this might not be the best spot for you. There are many hidden trails that have been paved by dogs. There are also 3 different open areas of varying size where you can sit and play fetch if you prefer that to walking the trails. Trails are lined with many benches and also there is a gate that attached to the nearby Ice Age Trail segment if youd like to go a little further on-leash.

Ca
Review №52

Huge dog exercise area. This is the best dog park in the area with a variety of terrain for dogs to explore. There is no water for swimming, but the size of the park makes it more than worth it. Be warned: if your dog is a runner it can be easy to lose him or her, as there is limited visibility in some areas of the park (thicker woods). We come here almost every day with our super high energy dog to burn off some steam.

Great park, large and the scenery cannot be beat. Lots of forest and prairie, hills, pine grove, wide trails, skinny trails, a little bit of everything. I agree that a water source and bathroom facility would bring this up to the five stars it deserves.

Ive been to a lot of off-leash dog parks, & this one is definitely one of the best. The variable terrain & scenic beauty make it far more interesting than most. Its one of the biggest Ive visited, too. Ive been told that walking the perimeter is about a 2 mile walk.Starting a couple years ago, the Ice Age Trail people (& probably others) started restoring the original oak savannah, both within the park & north of it (part of the Ice Age Trail). It is all the more interesting to be able to watch as invasives are removed in favor of the original burr oaks, little blue stem, etc.Dane County does pretty well in keeping most major footpaths covered with wood chips, so mud isnt as much of a problem here. There is also a long gravel road that runs from the entrance to the big tower, & that allows you to avoid mud. Caution: There are a couple mudholes that exist almost constantly during the above-freezing weather. If your dog likes to wallow in the mud, you may have a problem. There are benches scattered around the park, in case you get tired. Also, my fellow dog owners are about as good at picking up after their pets here as they are at any other park.

1.75 mile outer loop, all off leash, with plenty of shorter paths if thats not what youre up for. Also, apple trees! who can argue with that. Its also in close proximity to Wisconsin Brewing company, which I believe is also dog friendly.it can be muddy at times though, so be warned. Also, simply because it is so big and semi-forested, you could probably actually lose your dog there if your dog decided to make a break for it, so make sure your dog loves you enough to not do so. :D
