This place is a real treasure! There was much to see. The documentary was well done and very informative. The exhibit had a lot of different items. Some displays had an option to listen to a narrator give additional information not contained in the placards. The observation deck was really cool, ending of in a pirate ship overlooking the ocean.
Great spot to view some history. The exhibits are well done and very informative. Gift shop has some nice trinkets. Also, the documentary film they have playing will make you want to get your metal detector and head out to the shore, its no wonder they call this the treasure coast.
The museum is worth stopping at. We enjoyed looking at all the treasures
Fun place to see amazing artifacts from shipwrecks and a cute ship deck overlooking the ocean. Make sure to bring some skin so soft to keep the little no-see-ems from biting your legs while outside on the observation deck. My little ones loved playing on the ship!
A step back in time to see the early settlers and treasures they brought to florida...very cool
Very nice. Quiet. We didnt sit through the video presentation. The exhibits are worth the time. The walk to the beach is also good, If a little bit overgrown with Sea grapes.
This museum tells a great story! I loved my visit here with my 3 kids. Lots of artifacts to see. The park ranger we spoke to was very helpful, educational, and I appreciate the time he took to talk to us.
Small but amazing. Greated with the smile. The history is there and very well explained. It has a deck to the beach and a movie clip about the history. The employee are great. Loved the place. Entrance is $2.00 per person but its mainly like a donation. They have souvenir and books too. There is a registration book to sign your name/family and were your from.
Loved this. So much history.
Sweet museum for the treasure hunters amongst us. Theyre working on improving their exhibits but the movie was interesting.
Loved this place. Employees was very knowledgeable and helpful. If you get a chance to visit here you should
Museum is part of the State Park system. It is easily accessible from the Main Thoughofare A1A, there is some ongoing construction but the signs are visible. Adequate parking including for Handicap accessible Vehicles. They open at 10am. There is a nominal $2.00 entrance fee and I believe it was well worth it.Museum was clean and well staffed with Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Restrooms are available and were clean. A water fountain with a bottle filler is also available along with a small gift shop.Although the museum is not a large venue it has some very nice artifacts and descriptions about the 1715 Spanish Fleet shipwrecks. They also have a 45 minute loop video with seating for about 30. The video was very informative and worth seeing. There is also an outside viewing area overlooking the beach where the shipwrecks to place. If you are in the area its worth your time.*If you are interested in seeing more about the 1715 shipwrecks and others, there is a Mel Fisher museum nearby and there are discount coupons for the Fisher Museum in the lobby of the Mclarty museum.
Very small place but also very informative. They have a really good 45 minute video that tells all about the 15 ships that have crashed off the treasure coast. Well worth the $2 to get in
If you love the history of the treasure coast this is definitely the place to go.
Figured out it was closed due to Covid after an hour drive
Awesome place to learn about the wrecks of 1715.
Simple yet very effective. This is a good place to go and understand the treasure history of the area. Theyre quite a bit of displays and lots of information as to why its called the Treasure Coast. And its only two bucks to get in! One thing to keep in mind, this is geared for people who like history - more for teenagers and adults, not so much for children (unless they love treasure and pirate history).
For $2 its not a bad stop. The exhibits arent extensive or detailed. They do have a couple of interesting pieces to see. The video they play which covers the ships history and the treasure search are a bit dated but still informative. Good for a 45 min stop.
Nice little treasure museum. Friendly staff.
For two bucks? Best deal in all of Vero. Very friendly staff. Great way to kill an hour or so on a cloudy day!
Its a $2 admission charge what you learned quite a bit while youre there very small but a great place to stop
A cool place to visit. Especially if youre into pirates and treasure. History of the Treasure Coast. Theres a lot of interesting artifacts on display
Very nice, helpful staff, and great education, worth every penny
Really neat place . Its more about the wrecks and the settlement the museum is built at . The walk to the beach is great . Stop and see if you have time.
Fabulous placeHistory on the treasure of florida. great film.
Very interesting, somewhat hidden gem!! Fantastic exhibits share the human history of this site of the 1715 Plate Fleet. If you want to know why they call this The Treasure Coast, this is the museum for you! An absolute bargain at $2/person for admission!!There are multiple diaramas with buttons to push to explain the scene from the historical perspective of someone living there. They also have exhibits of some of the items - actual and replicas - found in the wreckage of ships that sunk over 300 years ago in a hurricane. Amazing explanation of how many people survived, how they lived and tried to salvage treasure on the ships bound for Spain. The movie was done by the History Channel. It is half story of this place and half stories of ancient through modern day treasure hunters. Interesting. I would prefer more emphasis on the historical framework and the people involved including the Ais (indigenous tribe that helped survivors and ultimately died out). When they begin the fundraiser for the new movie, please consider helping them out.Ranger Corey and the volunteers were very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and eager to share. Ranger Corey helped us understand the role of the Ais and the hardships endured by survivors. He is very engaging and has great plans to update the museum to focus more on human history.A great walkway out the back to an overlook of the area where the ships went down and the survivors came ashore. Its easy to imagine the heavy foliage and groundcover they encountered because its still there! The $2 admission is a bargain. We stayed over three hours, and I plan to go back. You could see it in much less time, but the current movie is 45 minutes, and the monologues that can be played with the dioramas are lengthy.Nice gift shop with books, replica doubloons, and information on turtles in the area. Very reasonable prices.
This Facility is a must do in Sebastian, Florida! The Staff brings Joy and Knowledge to a who enter these doors. History and Wonder, I look forward to my next visit! God Bless!
A must to go to. Lots of treasure from the 1715 fleetPeople there are very nice and helpful.
Nice little museum, very informative and helpful park ranger. You will get the treasure hunting bug. My students thoroughly enjoyed their field trip.
Nice museum
Museum has history of the treasure coast of Florida. Great history includes a film.
A treasure of a place, very educational and a fun place to tour!
Very interesting movie about why its called the Treasure Coast, lots of info about the Spanish fleet. Best $2 I ever spent!
Totally worth the $2 fee. The movie was very informative. The grounds are very well kept up. Very nice staff.
Great place for a Saturday afternoon if you just want to get out of town a little bit.
Awesome, a must visit to learn and experience the treasure coast. Only $2.00 per person to view documentary video about the ship wrecks that occurred in early 1700. Plus multiple treasured items found locally are on display.
Very inexpensive small musuem with lots of artifacts. Great place to kill a half hour and learn some history.
Learn about the fate of the fleet of 1715. Pristine beach and friendly rangers.
Nice tourist trap, educational and entertaining. This museum gives the history of another fated Spanish Armada, I loved the video even if it was a bit dated, and the artifacts are very cool to see although there are some replicas mixed in with authentic pieces. A cool museum that will bring out your inner treasure hunter.
Volunteers were so friendly. This was very interesting, and enjoyed it immensely! Only $2
Cool little museum well worth the extremely inexpensive admission price
Being the survivors camp of the 1715 Spanish Treasure fleet, and the main reason we are called the treasure coast is one thing, but having the amount of history they have in the museum is amazing. This is an absolute must see if you are in and around Sebastian.
The informational movie is fantastic!! Very interesting!!
We learn some history about Spanish treasures
Watch out you might the treasure hunting bug. Great museum and they give you the reason why we are called the Treasure Coast. They do a good job of telling you what it was like back then and a good video. A must go...
Nice stop on Treasure Shore. $2.00 admission per person. Has a very informative video to watch along with many artifacts and a nice observation deck.
Very nice small museum all should visit one time. Great setup of a pirate ship and real treasures ON THE VERY SPOT WHERE THE ARMADA SUNK!Bring your metal detector and walk the beach - some people were very lucky here!
Cheap, interesting artifacts, and great panoramic view of the beach
What a wonderful muesum, if you want to learn about the 1715 fleet this is the place. Staff is awesome!!
A must see. Real pirate treasure! Love walking out on the pirate ship deck. Great staff and a nice little stop on a beach day! My daughter loved at age 4 and again at 6.
It was cool seeing all the stuff they found and for only $2.00.
$2 entrance fee. Good movie about the history. Good displays but lacking any bling. We spent over an hour there. Nice place!
Great little museum for learning about Floridas Treasure Coast. It is small, but informative and worth a stop.
Small but nice place show a movie take a tour cost 10 dollars a person
Good place must visist
Very knowledgeable staff, plenty of parking, really interesting.
Good place
Not bad, but not the best. Theres some interesting artifacts on display but very little actual treasure. Theres a video that plays that is pretty good but out of date as well.
What a great hidden treasure. Awesome video in why it’s called the treasure coast and all about the boats that sunk with the queens jewels. Gets you excited to walk the beach
Very informative. Only $2.00 entrance fee. Clean restrooms and great Atlantic ocean lookout ooint.
Old man and woman with the white hair were extremely rude by snapping you cant bring that in here refering to my brothers metal detector, ok didnt know could have said it politely. So my brother took it to car, also yelled dont park here after telling him we were going to park at the the inlet state park then walk until we got out of the state park. I went to check on my brother to see what was taking so long the returned to counter then the old man snapped at me again what do you want . Poor attitudes all around the employees would not recomend just watch youtube videos if you want to see the real deal
Nice video about the undersea treasures found in the area. Lots of wonderful artifacts in the museum that were discovered as lost treasures from the Spanish ships lost during a hurricane in the 1700s.
Nice littel stop
This was a really neat museum to visit along the ocean on the way to Sebastian Inlet along A1A which had a great inventory of artifacts on display to look at. There artifacts on display were about survivors who came ashore after there Spanish ship broke up in a storm and sank offshore in the 1700s. They have on display old coins, guns, pottery, helmets and asundry of many other items. It is said there is still buried treasure out in the ocean where the ship sank about a quarter mile offshore all though most has been found by registered divers. The museum inside was very nice but the outside needs a little work. They charge $2.00 per person for admission.
Part of the Sebastian Inlet State Park and a must see!
Great place. Really enjoyed our visit.
A little dirty, but thats to be expected. Has tons of cool things to look at and the bridge outside was a fun walk and you get a nice view at the end on the built pirate ship. Only $2 entry, so its a cheap way to spend some time and they have a 45 minute movie showing the story of the place, plus the security up front is very helpful with any questions or infromation you might want to know.
If you like history, its a very interesting place.Theres not a lot to see here, only spent 1 hour, but very cool stuff related to Spanish treasure fleet.
Lots of information on the Treasure Coast. Loved the observation deck too
See photos from Sebastian Inlet state park...
This is a wonderful little Museum only 2 bucks at door, great history to learn, the little video was neat to watch, my only complaint is that if you bring children teach them respect, dont let them run an play in the museum area, this is a place of great tragedy an people who want to pay respects should not have to deal with misbehaving kids that are old enough to know better!! The people at the door are so sweet an knowledgeable, the gifts you can buy are reasonable an beautiful(look at the art from a nut that looks an feels like ivory) I also loved the tree out front that was wrapped around another (looks like legs in back an a monster face in front) grew naturally but awsome! The observation a deck is a beautiful view!! Go enjoy our FL history but be mindful of others there
Mclarty Treasure Museum has a small sample of items found from the 1715 Spanish ship wrecks near Sebastian. Items include a ships cannon, some silver pieces of eight, tableware, and some native American artifacts. They also have a video presentation which explains the history of the ship wrecks and salvage efforts. For the $2 entry fee its not a bad spot to stop in and learn about some local history or get a break from the sun. They also have a very short nature walk which explains a little bit of the local beachside flora.
Great things to see with interesting facts. Over-all informative. Also, Mel Fishers museum down the road is great as well. Staff was friendly and helpful. Could use more hands-on activities for the kids.
45 minute film explaining the meaning of the Treasure Coast . Museum was small, but interesting. Gift shop was too small.
Very cool. Great people there.
Pricy, the displays are pretty lame and not well lit or informative. The ocean view is nice but that is not why you go there but as an unexpected added bonus it gets the star.
Very interesting. Great displays. People running museum were very knowledgable and helpful.
Interesting historical museum. Could use an update on the video and TV.
Rich in local history and cultural resources. A true gem of our Florida State Parks.
Super awesome!!! The whole visit was fun and interesting. Plus afterward you can go out treasure hunting on the beach. Our 11 year old son was so excited that he got to hold real gold treasure there. Well definitely visit again!
Love the movies..... makes me want to be a pirate
Cool little museum showcasing the wreck of the Spanish Silver Fleet in 1715 and the modern efforts to recover the treasure. Includes a detailed video about the history behind the silver fleet, how people discovered the wreck almost 300 years later and the divers who continue to bring up treasure. Also includes artifacts and diarams.
If you are on Highway A1A and interested in history, this is a must stop. The Museum is insight to the origins of the early 18th century trade routes of the ocean. It features the very famous Astrolabe. On display is a literal trove of historic treasure, fitting to the name, but the quality simply can not be put into words. There is something for everyone here. On the grounds of the property there is a patio that resembles the front of a ship, but the important aspect is that it provides a view of where Famed treasure hunter Mel Fisher found the wreck site of the Atocha. For those very interested, bring a notebook and camera. The staff has more knowledge then a person should be able to comprehend, and they entertain every question. A true must stop. If I had to name one con to balance this out it would be that only the inside of the museum has air conditioning. It is a place you will never forget!
The best 2 bucks u will spend. Great stuff. Alot of artifacts. And a great story
