So thankful for Mean Gene Fireworks! My wedding was June 20th, just missing the opening of firework stands. I sent my sister and maid of honor on a vain mission to find sparklers for the send off at our reception the week before the weeding. Although the tent was not open yet, after giving Mean Gene a call, they offered to meet us to pick up the sparklers. Such a fun memory on our special day. Mean Gene was incredibly thoughtful, easy to work with and I will confidently be buying all my fireworks there in the future! Thank you so much!!

Wow. I am blown away with the level of care and neighborly kindness showed to me. I was desperately looking for sparklers for a wedding that I needed the next day, but no one was still caring them in the Portland area! I called on a whim and not only did he offer to help me out, he told me hed give them to me for free, as many as I needed and hed leave them out front of his home for me. You just dont experience customer service or kindness like that much these days and its so appreciated when you stumble upon. Will be only shopping with Mean Gene any time I need fireworks!!!

Genuinely good people at this company. I had a wedding for my daughter that we had to change the venue and everything else several times because of covid. My daughter woke up with a request of sparklers for her wedding. Mean Gene made it happen in August for her.Cant thank you enough.

Nice employees trying to do their best on the independence day rush. Trying to keep items stocked and the checkout line moving. Prices not the greatest, but they have a 6 day window to make their money so I get it.

Mean Gene is super nice! I was looking for fireworks for a 60th birthday social distancing party. Everything was closed, due to Covid19, but Gene took my call. He generously offered the sparklers and party poppers I wanted and did not charge me. I was so surprised, and grateful! Gene said he wanted to make this time of isolation better for others! There is nothing mean about Gene. We were scrambling to find sparklers for our daughters graduation. Gene called me back and wouldnt accept payment. Super nice local guy. :)

Gene is a nice guy and I enjoyed buying my fireworks from them. The security company that watches there Firework tents is garbage. It is so easy to steal fireworks from the tents at night because usually at least half of the security people watching the tents are sleeping at night. Vanport security doesnt even use licensed officers, they use random people to fill the holes that dont normally work in security and dont have the security integrity. I use to patrol for Vanport Security and check up on the firework stands and I would say at least half to three-quarters of the people watching the tents were sleeping. Maybe if they used actual employees and not just random people to fill slots so they can make a buck Gene would actually have his fireworks properly protected. They would have me slip regular clients to do the firework checks and one of our clients had an auto break in when they had me skip. I wish Gene would stop giving these people his money and realize the quality of work he is getting from them. Do not steal from Gene even though the security company makes it easy to do so in Vancouver.Update - I was contacted by Mean Gene because Van Port Security gave them my personal information from my employee file which im pretty sure isnt legal. Mean Gene tried to blame me for theft that has happened which I replied if you were using a legit security company that is properly doing their job theft would not have occurred. Blame the thieves or the negligent security company, not me. Gene pointed out that he was paying this security company well for their services but the security company is only paying non-licensed/not-security trained people $10 under the table to protect his assets.

Excellent prices, especially on the small to mid-sized cakes. I stopped in looking for a different place, but they convinced me to look around first, and Im glad I did. I also appreciated several freebies thrown in with my order. My whole family loved the display I was able to create, and not a single item was a disappointment. I was especially blown away (no pun intended) at the performance of the tiny, $4 cakes. Surprising amount of show in a small, inexpensive package!

Mean Gene is perhaps the nicest guy I have ever encountered.My mom passed away far too early this fall, and we had an idea to have sparklers at her service to symbolize her life, which burned bright and was over far too fast.After I explained my idea to Gene he insisted that I come and meet him since I had the time to do so. He had a crazy array of options for us and refused to allow me to pay for them given the circumstances, he also insisted we take the bunch that he brought which was a ton and was especially great as sooo many more people came to the memorial than even we could have imagined.I have been there since and he has a great selection at terrific prices. I cannot recommend looking up mean Gene enough, the nicest fireman and fireworks enthusiast that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.Seriously recommended!

These guys are amazing! I recently had a wedding and we didnt get the extra long sparklers we needed in time via mail. I called these guys two days before the wedding and they had them ready for me to pick up the next day. Very helpful and very nice. Will only buy fireworks from them in the future.

Back in October I was looking all over for sparklers and didnt realize that you couldnt get them that time of year. After looking all over Oregon I was super lucky Mean Gene himself picked up the phone! The next day he set out a large assortment of sparklers for me and saved the day. Ill be shopping with them this year for 4th of July and telling all my friends to go to Mean Genes :)

We needed some sparklers for our wedding that was 1 week away. I thought we weren’t going to be able to get it because it was so last minute, but these guys were so helpful. We got it right away. Am from oregon and they charged me a sales tax which they are not supposed to do the young manager said every one pays sales tax and they had a small selection i strongly recommend going to black jacks fire works stand if you are from oregon they will check your license and waive the sales tax from washington and they have a bigger selection and they are also willing to negotiate prices on cases of fire works

I have a party coming up and I wanted to surprise my guests with a little entertainment in the form of 3D glasses and sparklers.Gene not only had at the sparklers but arranged for me to pick them up in North Portland so I didnt have to drive so farI will be getting my New Years eve fireworks and all future fireworks from them.

The 162nd right off hwy 14 location is by far the best place in town to get fireworks! We spent 200.00 and were getting 80.00 free, but we were 20.00 over and they gave it to us anyway. Their customer service is above and beyond expectations. I will be going back year after year and will also be telling all my friends and family. Our 4th of July is going to kick ass, thank you Mean Gene!!
