Urbana Park District

This is a terrible facility run by incompetent people—particularly the board of commissioners. When you have individuals elected into these positions that are charged with proper management of these facilities but they have NO experience in conservation biology it’s a recipe for disaster.Take the recent controversial issue of the goose cull for example. This is a cruel and unnecessary decision made in haste, even while the majority of Urban residents oppose this cull.In addition, members of the board like Nancy Delcomyn blatantly lie to concerned citizens claiming the cull is necessary because the “geese defecate in the lake people use which contaminates it”, but this is FALSE.Canadian geese do NOT relieve themselves in water nor does this cause pollution, and their feces do not carry disease.Misinformation is a weapon used to control people and pass a specific agenda—and that’s what this board is doing unfortunately. And it’s not ok.
