I can remember when this was a bowl and would have retaining/standing water. The great flood of 1983 took out the vehicles at the Ford dealership, where Clayton Homes is now located, trailers at the trailer park, and many of the houses by the Mingo creek. I lived on 99th, right across the street of the creek, and my neighbors were flooded. We were lucky enough to have been higher up than our neighbors. Moved away in 1985 and was there this weekend for a funeral. 35 years later.
This monument is huge! Located in the middle of a round about. Great place to take a Route 66 picture but a bit of a challenge. Drive around the traffic circle a couple of times for a picture of your driver & the monument together. No parking available at the statue. I asked permission to park at a local business & walked across the road. USE CAUTION if you cross the road, traffic is fast around the traffic circle.
Loved it! Got some pics & found a little treasure I was looking for there too.
Its a statue/metal sculture in the middle of a traffic circle. Its cool to look at, but theres no parking, and no clear way for pedestrians to get to it. Its neat to drive by, but I wouldnt make a trip to see it and I only live a mile from it.
We had so much fun stopping and taking pictures! Thanks Tulsa,OK
Since the description of this place is kinda lacking due to Googles listing perimeters, I will describe this place.First thing, it IS NOT a Museum. It is a Landmark / Roadside Attraction. And it is in the middle of a Roundabout. So you can park in the parking lot of one of the surrounding businesses if you want to take pictures. Please DO NOT park in the road or stand on the road, BECAUSE YOU WILL BE HIT BY A VEHICLE. This is a pretty busy roundabout. Finally, there isnt any website or phone number to call. You drive here, park in one of the surrounding businesses parking lots, take your picture and go about your business.Hope this review helps clarify things about this Landmark.
Pretty cool but the traffic circle is still a nightmare
Love it
Loved seeing this.
Im glad that we are getting the roadside attractions that we so desperately need and deserve
No parking
