Beautiful place to explore. Great paths to walk along. Lots of nice scenery and wildlife.
Its really pretty really neat country to hike and hunt
The paved road has been improved. Well maintained forrest. Beautiful views. Great place to escape the heat and the noise.
Just a super amazing place to visit. There is so much too see here. Cruising down the border wall you get to see both sides. You can watch border patrol overlook Mexico. And you can see Mexicans cruising the other side watching border patrol. Theres great wildlife to view. Javelins, deer, cows, and many birds. We have been all over here and every turn you take you will be surprised what you see. 100s of backpack and 1000s of water bottles they leave behind. Also clothes and blankets and everything you can imagine. Its a risk to be out here so be prepared and armed. You never know what you may see. Mountain lions to illegals. Its defiantly for the thrill seeker. Ill be back again guaranteed!!!!!!!!!
An absolutely beautiful place to visit, with gorgeous views and some very easy hikes as well as some more challenging ones. There are some lovely valleys to hike through that are appropriate for children as well as some more challenging ones for more advanced hikers or older children. A little something for everyone.
Fresh air and quiet nights. Great for early fall camping
Seems like a good area for bicyclist, good area for hunting with many camping spots both next to the road and up the trails
Cool place! We enjoyed the Junior Ranger program here. The Rangers spent extra time with the kids which meant a lot to me. We hiked Montezuma Pass all the way up to the peak. Once there it was easy to identify the border. There are a couple other hikes you should check out as well.
This is an awesome resource for the residents of southern Arizona. This forest is home to some very special plants and animals that you will have a tough time finding anywhere else in the United States. If you have any friends or family out of state that think Arizona is just cactus and sand, bring them here to change their minds.
We came to rock climb. There is so much rock climbing here! We had to come back after our first trip to climb more. We also enjoyed riding motorcycles up great curvy road! Beautiful forest. Both the lower more desert area and the upper, wetter and more forested area.
It’s a beautiful excursion that opens up views of not only the landscape of the United States but Mexico as well. Highly recommended.
Great but in the wood canyon or Casas Blanca canyon area there is fire restrictions that suppobly haven been lifted diue to lack of coronado forest personnel much confusion noted by the inquiries we made to the appropriate authorities.
Mt. Lemmon is a beautiful place. Very scenic drive up.
Great place to get away from the city. Beautiful scenery. Quiet
Breathtaking views, amazing nature walks, fresh mountain air. This place is worth the drive. Fun for the whole family, lots of wild life. Dont miss the bird area. Hummingbirds in season is a must see!
Pretty easy to see why I love this place. Beauty everywhere.
Beautiful untouched piece of nature! Fantastic views!
Great southwest sky island habitat. Great hiking trails and habitat for seeing those Arizona bird specialties.
A little pricey, but they do have great customer service and a great selection, but expect to pay for the convenience of not going into Tucson.
Just beautiful! Well kept picnic grounds in the middle of pine trees! There was a picnic table, grill and fire pit on site. It was $10 to enter the park per car.
Definitely off the beaten path. We have been up here several times and go out far enough so that we dont see anyone else. If you want to go back farther you do need 4 wheel drive. I would suggest at least vehicles with high clearance. Great place for social distancing!
I just loved it. We discovered so many awesome places to camp out in a starry night. I cant wait to enjoy it for the night or a weekend.
How can you give the place anything less than 5 stars. Really great
Clean area for some good family time. Nice areas to shoot, but not long distance practice. Some really nice offroad gems here to test skill! Good clean family fun!
One of my favorite places on earth. There are great hikes to go up, or you can just relax and enjoy the stream. Beautiful spot!
Beautiful and relaxing. Stay aware of your surroundings as there are wild mountain lions throughout the area. Lots of hiking trails to do, be sure to take someone with you to be on the safe side and bring lots of water.
Went to the falls expecting water but was dry online it would have been nice if they gave us a heads up
Brutal. Intense. Interesting. Fun and it was very much a challenge. I will do it again.
What a spectacular place to hike. So much history detailing the lives of the Cochise Indians and the infamous Indian Geronimo. On this day we hiked up to Council Rock to explore with the kids. To think the Cochise Indians in times just sat right where we were. Perched high above the valley that could see for miles any enemies approaching or watch for wild games they may hunt. It s a tough place to get to. Youll be traveling on dirt roads through a very exclusive high end rural neighborhood called Dragoon Mountain Ranch. We talked to a few home owners... some were accommodating and others were not. Make sure to have a map and know the boundaries. Please like this page if the information is helpful.
Great place for boondocking
Absolutely beautiful! I enjoyed every minute of the drive up and backk down. I loved watching the temperature just keep dropping the further up when went. Absolutely loved it!
Near Sabino Canyon & always a good day filled with adventure.
Good lots of nice people but some group of weirdos were making threats shooting at us but guess what we stood our ground and shot once and it scared em off cause our family hates bullys! Its a beautiful place just some bad things can happen I recommend it.
Beautiful drive up. Got rain but we didnt expect snow! Was sorry we didnt get to the top. Well drive up later when the weather improves. Gorgeous rocks and what views we could see.
The weather was awesome (light rain). It was cool and a nice respite from the heat in the valley. I really enjoy the fresh scent of pine and watching the diverse wildlife preparing for winter. It was a fantastic weekend
When you think of Southern Arizona, you typically arent thinking forest, but it is so beautiful!!! We took Tripp Canyon road up the North side of Mt Graham to Blue Jay Peak, simply amazing!! Truly a sky island!
Beautiful scenery, awesome trails. So beautiful. A must visit for residents and visitors.
Great area to get out and enjoy the natural beauty of Arizona
Love it here. Great hiking!
It was a great trip to California Gulch and the areas around Arivaca.
Birding in Sycamore Canyon. There is a point where you have to wade waist deep in the stream to continue up the main canyon this time of year. Beautiful area. Well worth the effort.
If you are in Tucson you have to make the drive to Mt. Lemmon through the forest! In one drive off about 20 miles you go from desert to to conifers and Aspens. The drive is the geologic/vegetation equivalent of driving from Mexico to Canada. Just gorgeous! Stop at 7 Cataracts lookout, Windy Point, Hoodoo lookout, go to the top to eat at the Iron Door.... we go at least once or twice a week. At any point along the highway in the way up, there are dozens of trails to hike each different and beautiful in its own right!
Lots of roads with challenging crevices and areas that only 4x4 vehicles can access. Gorgeous views of the Arizona desert
Everything is closed but I still was able to pull over at a lookout, have a sandwich and watch the sunset
The forest is a great place for watching birds and butterflies. There arent many trails, but you can see much from the road. And you can use the (dry) waterstream beds to wander a luttel bit into the forest. Forest consists of oak and juniper, with an understory of mimosa.
My campsite was clean, however it was difficult to find a good location for my tents due to all the rocks. If you are using a RV there is plenty of space, there are also hookups for your utilities. All the campsite is about a 15 minute walk to the discovery center, where the cave tour starts.
Love going up and getting out of the heat.
I hike here every weekend. The place is kept clean. The trails are maintained, so walking is not hazardous. A year pass is a very reasonable price. The views on the trails are phenomenal. There is a large variety of wildlife and plant life, and Im constantly seeing things Ive never seen before.
I use the forest mostly for mountain biking. Many of the trails are becoming so eroded that they are starting to exceed my skill level. It would be nice to see some maintenance to control some of the erosion and keep the best sections of the trails from getting completely out of my reach and the reach of others like me. They forest is beautiful and offers great hiking, camping, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen. It is the desert.
It was like 102° in tucson, and a cool 77° there so I took a long walk.
Beautiful and very relaxing
Beautiful area. Weather was perfect
Took the Carr Canyon Road was a nice ride up the mountain.
Beautiful rugged historical place. Fantastic hiking.
Mt Graham remains one of the best kept secrets in Arizona. The camping is fantastic! 9000 plus. Fishing. Animals. Campfires when nearly everyone in AZ is restricted...
Had a good ride but most of trails off reddington road closed
Took Douglas spring trail to bridal fall and around three thanks total 7 ish miles great hike for mid January and decent for all ages mid level challange
Beautiful view of the city from above. Great place to get something to eat and drink and enjoy the mountains. This is a chocolate salted caramel muffin.
Fun day of riding the back roads of Mt. Lemmon. Nice views. Stopped at the restaurants at the top of the mountain.
For the faint at heart with mountian curves on this long drive to the top you will find it helpful, as I did, to use the pull-offs. It gives you a few minutes to see the scenery along with calming the dizziness. I was impressed with the planning on these pull-offs as there are many. Also good to use to let race car drivers pass you and you can then continue with your own pace for sightseeing. We will make the drive again, there are so many great views!
Beautiful place for morning walks
Beautiful! Well stocked bathrooms as well.
Love Redington, such amazing views of the city.
I hiked for 102 minutes in Pima Canyon. Its a beautiful climb out of the desert and up the mountain side into the canyon. I recommend an early morning or late afternoon hike, and be sure to bring plenty of water! I also recommend taking a photo of the map at the beginning of the trail.
Dispersed camping in a 17 ft camper. Beautiful scenery. More cows and calves wandered through than people. Didnt like the 10 miles of washboard road. Some of it wasnt too bad, but still annoying.
Beautiful and well kept.
Wonderful protected area. Great for hiking and birding.
I love this place, its one of the best to have a good time with the family and friends.
A true gem in the middle of the desert. So many things to do and see for the outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. My. Lemmon is amazing and the surrounding areas are breath taking. A great spot for a retreat from the Tucson heat in the summer and play in the snow come winter time. Picnic, hike, camp and fish to your hearts content. Just make sure you have a full tank of gas before heading up, there are no vehicle services available
Beautiful and very well kept
Not my dogs, still a great time. Bigelow road is perfect for those who want all the people but none of the city. Also, cell towers within a mile and a half. Not sarcastically, visit at least one cell tower in your life. Weird but fun.
Absolutely beautiful. Fresh air, snow, and the kids laughter.
Great place to ride!
Desert landscape with mountainous interludes. Wonderful place for solitude. Bring water.
Beautiful views and trails with a nice range of difficulty. Always a go-to for a hike in Green Valley, AZ
Beautiful area. America the Beautiful pass is accepted for all day use fees. Birds everywhere and paths that educate you as you hike. The different terrain is awesome to see.
We camped up Mt Bigelow Rd. Beautiful area, gorgeous views.
Very peaceful up there. Enjoy taking my dog & relax after work.
Great way to start the New Year! A quick hike to the cardiac gap and back. Timing a hike the morning after a light snowfall creates some amazing photographic opportunities!
It was beautiful and the brown canyon ranch was a lot like the ranches you would see in old western movies
What an experience! Some of the most spectacular views Ive ever seen in my entire life. From a distance it is very surreal looking at the Mountainside, but when you get into it, you view the extreme changes within the ecosystem, as well as the natural beauty of the Mountainside. Very easy to get places and plenty of spots you can stop to take photos. Would most definitely recommend it.
Cochise stronghold in the dragoons is probably too five places to camp in Arizona. So peaceful, beautiful plants and wildlife.
Beautiful Mountains and green forest.
Great place to camp and hunt. Very different from the usual forest.Lots of open areas with rolling hills, tall grass, and tress that are spread out across different valleys. Unique views from the top of the hills. sunsets and sun rises are colorful. Worth checking out at least once!!
Nice Sunday drive off road. Not a lot of people. Beautiful plants and wildlife.
Vistas are beautiful. Saw deer and cattle up close and personal.
My favorite place to hike. I love seeing the variety of animal and plant life.
Beautiful hike up Babad Doag Trail! Flat parts and a few Rocky, but definitely not difficult. Hiked with 3kids and a dog.
Other visitors very nice, great views, pit bathrooms available
So...another beautiful day in the Catalina Foothills. Trust Tucson to have perfect weather for hiking in the middle of January. Today my target was 2.4 miles in to the Virgin Pools, but in all reality I was more excited about the journey to get there And the actual destination. Cliche as that might sound, it was another perfect hike; virtually clear skies with little wisps of white clouds flowing directly overhead towards the apex of the trail where it would join the others on the northern end, just a little tiny hint of a breeze with enough of a temperature differential to instantly cool you down and keep you from sweating profusely, and a sprinkling of both local and visiting hikers with perfect hiking etiquette.I am sadly not in as good a shape as I wanted to to reach where all the trails conjoined and come back down through either Pima Canyon or finger Rock, but it was definitely a gorgeous day. Lots of parking, so I definitely recommend you come and take advantage of this free hiking trail whenever youre in town.
Coronado National ForestWhetstone ArizonaBeautiful right now different desert flowers in full bloom, but bring plenty of OFF spray yourself before you leave home then again once you arrive, the knats are horrible as they are during the monsoon season but its still worth it.
Easy hike and beautiful scenery!
Beautiful and fairly easy to access. A very nice day trip.
Love the forest its green...
Absolutely beautiful place to go hiking and camping. The Huachuca range provides an amazing back drop to any hike or trip through the area. I have gone hiking here maybe 15 times and always have a good time seeing wildlife and scenery. Make sure to notify others of your time out and back. Also its common to see things left by illegal aliens, make sure not to touch anything theyve left behind and steer clear of strange voices
Beautiful and Dangerous be very careful when your soaking in the sights there are swift and silent people sneaking through the forest.
Love the solitude and the wildlife.
Beautiful except for the border issues that are so prevalent these days
