Been here a handful of times over the years. First time was around 1999-2000 to see local morning show host Freaky Frank, back when it was The Jon and Frank Show with Tic-Tac as intern. They had Tic-Tac jello wrestle women. He lost. Then in the mid 2000s I saw Deicide there. Recently Ive gone twice to see my own son and his band Friends in Hell play. Very proud and The Rock is awesome.
I loved the band that was playing. Plus the bartender and security were amazing. We all had a great time!
Guitarist For Friends In Hell. We appreciate the venue very much for letting us perform there. Great staff & crowd, strict by their guidelines during COVID. Love the venue
Its a small old venue. It was so nice they had their doors open again. Friendly staff even BBQ up. Its all about the artists they can get. Covid spaced tables.
The Shows are amazing.Covid 19 Protocol enforcedGreat Sound by Chase.
I miss you peep. life isnt the same anymore. rest in peace baby.
We miss you, rest in peace Lil peep ️️️
LOVED Steve Hofstetter tonight! So glad The Rock supports comedians. Weve been fans because the music is great but were excited with this new direction, too. Looking forward to more shows!
Rest in peace lil bo peep
Thiz Place Iz Dope
Cool place! Small but cool! Looked like they have a large patio too! And full bar with local craft beer!
You know what I came here for
Love this place. Came here on the first tour that I was a part of. RIP Peep
Great staff, great prices, great shows. I love going to cactus league wrestling there!!!!
Theyve made some significant changes to the inside and the stage is much bigger now. Good venue and very personal do to the smaller size of the place.
Such a great place to see a concert for bands that are just starting out or a little on the smaller scale of the market. I always feel a personal connection when I see someone perform at the rock. And the staff is always friendly and interactive its like seeing a concert with close family and friends.
Great place always has surprisingly larger bands than expected for the venue. Nice out side areas to hang out and fans for cooling off. Only warnings are the occasional over slam dancing moshers (though that everywhere) and the two pillars kinda marking the limits of the most pit, watch where you fall. Also if its real crazy and the bands down they let people stage dive some!
Guys were sexy, but show was not as expected. Only 4 guys for the whole show. Not at all what you would expect from a vegas show tour. Venue kinda dumpy.
Great venue, wonderful staff great sound system
The rock great venue for the up and coming bands. Drinks could be a lot better they taste nasty. Nice and small but loud very loud and the brands are up close and kinda in your face. The security guards were ok and friendly. Punk and metal so if you like then this venue is for you. Just dont become rowdy or they will kick you out as we saw the last time we were here it was pretty intense but no one was hurt so it was all good and while there we did enjoy ourselves so get your mosh on over there
Great time at the Rock. I was a stagehand/ manager for 15 years and I was very impressed with whoever runs sound at the Rock. Loud and clear the way I like it. The off the grill hot dogs etc on the patio are a nice touch
It is an open door bar. Nice staff. Burger I got was good. I bands i saw were good. The PA/sound system might need some work though.
Omg answer the phone!! Ive been calling for 3 days diffrent times and not once has the phone been answered. So frustrating.
The owners and bar staff are top notch! Great shows! Great Drinks! Great Place!
Great music and great staff
Shout out to Kent and Sunny and the rest of his team for being awesome. Being disabled makes it a pain to get around. These guys took absolute amazing care of me during my visit for a friends show here. Very good atmosphere and great staff. Will definitely be coming back.
Fun place to hang out and catch music
Very friendly, clean and personable. The bands were awesome and friendly also. We would absolutely recommend to friends and go again.
This place has a big stage, like really big lol they have everything you need here to make a great gig, nice patio and bar area, great PA/monitors, FOH tech was kind and professional, however tucson didnt show up to the Rock this night, for a band traveling from Los Angeles it was disappointing to play for less than a handful of people on a Saturday, we are not sure if the club did their job at promotion but this would be a rad place to play if the room filled out a bit, disappointing for our first time in Tucson, hopefully this venue can find a better method for promotion, we hate traveling to new cities to play for no one, even if we are still getting paid, however dont discount this venue, support live music and your local venues
Spain without the s
Its been one of my favorites for live music since my teens.
Oh The Rock, a venue I have visited too many times to count in the last 15 years. Always a good time but damn does the lay out leave soemthing to be desired sometimes. The best throwback venue in town for anyone that grew up here though!
Good intimate venue. A Tucson staple.
As small venues go, this one is one of the best because of the large patio for smoking. Stage meets the floor, so lots of interaction with bands. Always a good time.
Great small venue for concerts and lucha libre
I miss you peep
Small, warm venue. Acoustics werent the best. Bar service seemed to be on point though.
Rest easy peep
Small venue but up close and personal to performers. Bartenders could brush up on cocktail mixes. The patio needs complete make over, seriously needs some furniture, like new unbroken tables, chairs and stools.
This place never really changes, just the people, depending on the show. Dig the intimate setting. You get to know your neighbors whether you want to or not. Cash-only has to go, though. Its not good enough anymore to point out the atm with gouging fees. Step into the 2010s in 2019, Rock.
Love the venue nice employees great place to watch a metal show. If i had any complaint it is you should be able to leave and come back almost 6 hour shows are crazy when you are there to see specific bands and dont want to hang out for hours in between. The bartenders do make great drinks though.
I freaking love this place! The live music is always great and they get a lot of awesome bands in this fantastic and intimate venue. The staff is friendly, funny, and great at their jobs--I never feel unsafe here and Kim and Andy at the bar always greet you with a smile and give great service. This place is a home away from home for me.
Its a decent place to see shows. I no longer indulge in alcohol, so I cant attest to the service.
Outdoor patio mursl of Lemmy Kilmister won me over!
Good place to dance.
Great place for a concert, the staff was awesome
Great venue. got to see my most favorite snd emotionally tied to bands from 5 feet away!! great staff, great crowd and great atmosphere. ️.
Great small venue! One of my favorites!
Good venue for small concerts.
Great club to see a show. Great staff and owner. A local piece of metal and punk heaven.
Good music but I dont like that you need to have a fence obscure your view of the stage when are want to enjoy an adult beverage and the city took allot of the venues parking. They use Ticketfly which can be almost 1/3 of the total ticket price. For the time being I plan on not doing business here until they can offer no or reasonable ticket fees.
Went for my brothers celebration of life. I will return.
Was a quaint little place. Two issues with it, one they let someone bring their poor dog into a metal show, two their sound guy wasnt able to stop the near constant feedback from the main vocal mic. It wasnt a loud feedback, but a low constant one.
Always have fun. I absolutely love going and seeing shows
Went to a concert tonight. Lots of fun. Large stage, food and drinks. Nice friendly staff.
The Tucson music scene has very few outlets and The Rock is one of the best. Weve seen a variety of bands here to include bands as big as Switchfoot and local favorites like American Standards. Other bands such as 68 and Silent Planet are always welcome favorites whenever they come through town!
Great music. Fantastic fun.
Always fun going here for live music
Rest easy Lil Peep
Great venue for the up and coming bands with a close up stage an great drink prices but you better like it loud cus it will be
Fun place to get some great drinks and food from some of the best people in Tucson!Listen to some great local and nonlocal talent and get to be right there in front of it all!
Best Club in Tucson to see live Bands!
Great fun bar
Was there for a wedding. The place is GREAT, very spacious. Has 2 patios, 2 bars arcades and the employees are GREAT. Kent is GREAT to work with.
One of the bartenders once denied a guy a cup of water, while they stood next to a sink and told him he had to buy a bottle! after paying for his show ticket and beers and possibly being in the mosh pit for however long the show was, I think giving him one of your plastic cups with some sink water wouldnt do your business any harm.. that kind of customer service should be unacceptable and if it wasnt for the good experiences I have had here..my review would probably 2 stars.
Rest in heaven Gus
The Rock is a great home town rocker place for many different types of music. Always features good music and great friends.
Dont Mosh too hard or security will throw you out. Also theres no free water unless you count the sink as free.
The security seemed a bit overzealous as they threw out an awful lot of people... But maybe they had their reasons I dont know. Other than that its a solid place to see a concert.
My taquitos were cold in the middle
Great venue with amazing staff! I highly recommend!
As a venue that supports an all ages crowd as well as local bands and groups this place is great! Here are my issues... First the bathrooms are terrible and smell so bad that even being in the adjoining room with the pool table is impossible! Like I almost vomited from it bad. Second, but even more important, is the set up for the all ages stuff. To get a drink you have to go into a separate caged in area that you cant leave until your drink is gone, even if is just a Coke. I went over there, got a Coke, said hello to everyone then needed to get back to the other side of the place where the underage people were. The person I came withs ID had expired the day before and he had not realized this. It still proved he was 21, but they wouldnt even let him have free range. He doesnt drink. So he couldnt be with anyone he came to see or vise versa. They couldnt come to be with him! Unless they choose to not drink as well. Which a few did, and huffed about how its The Rocks loss, because theyd be spending money on drinks if the set up was better! I didnt understand why the place didnt use a different system! Like bright a bracelet or hand stamps to inform the bartender rather than separate areas all together! Sure its a place where all ages can see the same show. Its not an all ages venue where people can bring their 17-20 year old friends or kids to hang out!
This place is not what I expected but in a great way! Its a smaller local venue for live music. The show I went to was all ages so they have the place separated for 21+ patrons, even with the division theres not a bad spot in the place. You can clearly see the stage from almost anywhere l, bar service was super fast and they have a nice outside area for smokers. They also had a BBQ going outside as well with delicious food. Security here is also very tight, I would recommend this venue to anyone looking to have a great time and still be/feel safe for all ages!
I ordered 2 beers and a spiked seltzer, and my bank is showing $36 charges from them. This is wrong.
Had a blast, Kent is a great person... Thank you for your hospitality... We will be back... Peace, Love and Respect...
Small cozy place. Able to get up close n personal to great bands. Loved this place!
Great place, great music and awesome people! I have fun whenever I go to The Rock, especially when Head P.E. came to town, the best concerts in Tucson happen at the Rock. Sound techs are great at what they do too. I love being so close to the bands when they play, I really get into the music. Thanks for bring such a kick ass place to let out some steam or pent up energy. #therockintucsonrules
Good local venue for music, I have no idea how they book all these awesome bands...WARNING: the LADIES ROOM is cut-off completely behind a chain-link barrier once the show gets packed. Pee elsewhere or dont drink too much ladies!
This is where Lil Peep died :,(
Fast food and it was quiet
Good atmosphere for rock shows, bar and patio is well separated and serving food and soft drinks as well helps foster a community mindedness allowing for teens and young adults to experience a bar-like venue.
The 4 star is because the drinks are highly watered down. Bartender made us think he was hooking it up filling the vodka high on the cup and in reality we couldn’t even taste the alcohol.
Always a good time here.
Great small venue for local shows. I wish the 21+ area wasn’t blocked in with a chain link fence to block the view to the stage
Great small venue for live music
Badass
Saw Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness here a few nights ago. Great place. Small, security were relaxed and friendly, and youre never more than a few feet from the stage. Good spot.
Great place to see a show. Friendly staff.
Great place for any event
Lil peep
Seems like all of the other reviews were based on the bands they saw and not the venue itself. I am here to give an honest review about this place. Terrible. If I had to use one word to explain this place, it would be the word terrible. The staff was incredibly rude the entire event. Security was nowhere to be seen. Well, actually, let me rephrase. The guards were hanging out outside while the crowd needed to be managed. The sound was comically horrible. I thought it was a joke. Judging by their gear, it cannot be easy to get a great sound, especially in that room, so I will leave the sound engineer out of this. The gear though, appears to have been purchased off of eBay as its pretty ghetto. I would not return to this venue, even if my favorite of all bands was playing a free show.
Love this place! Love The peacemakers
Very small and extremely hot in the summer. Bar is pretty big and you can sit and watch the performance from there. My Favorite part about this place is the lack of barriers on the stage. You can get close and personal with the performer.
