Somebody in another review called this a mini Greenfield village. And I would agree with that assessment. It is quite small they have maybe 10 buildings that are all historical buildings from Troy most of them were removed from their original locations and brought to this area, I think one of them is just a replica because they didnt have the actual building. You can go in and see the inside and the outside and see what life was like back in the early days of the city of Troy. They also have a blacksmith shop and there was a lady in there who actually was making tools by hand in the blacksmith shop, it was amazing! She said she learned the trade at the University. So its nice to know that trades like that actually still exist and are being carried on.
Such a great place. The volunteers are so nice and helpful.
Always good. Monthly constitutional cafe mertings are very intellectually stimulating.
This place has some amazing facts...check it out
Ive very much enjoyed the blacksmith classes offered at the village. They are the most reasonably priced around and well done.
I was able to attend this cute little historic village on a field trip with my daughter. It was so fun! The staff was very friendly, and knowledgeable. The first graders got to step back in time and really get a feel for life “back then”. The activities offered for this age group were spot on!
Excellent place to know the history of Troy, they have lot of good collections... Staffs are very good and friendly....
Great historical place that kids can discover of our past generations how they were living by and how to ..
Its fun to see the history of your own hometown.
Good educational place for children. People are nice. I love this general store!
Very nice and clean it was the perfect location for a wedding
Amazing historic location and staffs were very accommodating but some facilities were not working.
Nice museum but better when its not so cold outside, due to having to walk building to building for the tour.
Kids loved it!
Very relaxing atmosphere but staffs were not accommodating.
Nice little educational museum
Awesome blacksmithing classes!
Oh my gosh, the plantings and flowers are beautiful . Who does all that work ? They must be Angels .
Great place for a fun, organized field trip. They also have yoga on Tuesday evenings in the summer. Check the schedule.
Beautiful place for a wedding ceremony.
Great place to take your kids.
I do blacksmithing here so they charge like 150 for 12 hours of anvil time, split into 2 hour days. At Smith Shop, which is the only other place that offers open anvil, its almost 40 dollars an hour...
Nice to see but hasnt changed or upgraded in decades. Great for viewing once,..
Improvements are better. Loraine and all are so nice.
We chose the vIllage as our wedding venue after considering several locations, and are thrilled with the experience. Every person we dealt with was cordial and accommodatiñg. From the rental manager, receptionist, and every staff person, especially Michael, our oñ-site coordinator,we encountered welcoming and support. The rental agreement is specific, reasonable, and affordable.
The City of Troy has moved and gathered some of its most important historic structures to this one location. This has made it possible to maintain each in its historically correct condition and keep them viewable to the public into the future. With a friendly and knowledgeable staff on hand during open hours, the buildings make it possible to capture an accurate and effective glimpse into the past one would not otherwise get. Though an argument can be made that moving such structures deprives them of the context of location on the land, it is likely that some have been spared destruction by having been relocated. This is an important and informative gathering not to be missed by the those curious about how the past informs the present. It is also an accomplishment the citizens of Troy can be proud of!
Great staff that acted and behaved like we were really back in the 1800s.
I attended a wedding here & its an interesting little village that offers a peek into the past.
This place is like a tiny Greenfield village. Very cute, tiny village. They give tours to schools. And give lectures.
Wonderful local, history museum. Went after a big snowfall and the docents were fun and friendly.
Lots of information from workers and volunteers during recent open house. New accompanying internet videos also helpful.
Quiet and beautiful place where they have preserved a piece of history for us and our kids to see. It was lovely to see all the buildings and homes of those times . Enjoyed the tour of the place with my daughter
Small, fun setting. Buildings from Troys past... Troy First United Methodist original church has been beautifully restored and is just one of many structures to see.
Its was good
Great place...my favorite field trip with the kids!
Great place, my 7year old loved it. Enjoyed making bees wax candles. Loved the one room school house.
Wonderful Troy gem, like a miniature Greenfield Village, offering many events for all ages. Check it out!
Quaint and comfortable to visit. Troy has done a reasonably good job of preserving historical landmarks from yesteryears. Go if you have a chance and if its open (abbreviated visiting times). A friend of ours had her wedding in the simple Troy Chapel and had her reception catered on the grounds of the site. Good time and great atmosphere.
Good place to learn about Troy city...
My husband and I got married here on October 7. It was beautiful and the weather was amazing! One of the perks of renting the Village for a wedding is your rent the whole property privately for your guests. Unfortunately right before my bridesmaids were set to start, another bridal party showed up. The Village staff was excellent; they immediately went to the Bridal party and explained that I had a contract and our event was private. According to some of my guests at first they refused to leave, and apparently were pretty rude, but eventually they did leave and we were able to start the wedding. A wedding day is stressful enough and another bride crashing my wedding caused my stress level to skyrocket. Thank you to Nancy and Sue for handling it, and making my day wonderful!
It is great! If you live in Oakland County and youve never been... You need to schedule a visit! Historic buildings. A piece of history in our backyard. Learn about the life of Michiganders during the 18th and 19 th century. Hands on. For all ages.
Incredible history and beautiful grounds!
Reserved the place for $100 and took our wedding photos here, and they turned out great! Awesome people to work with.
Wonderful historical recreation of a time long ago with year-long events for everyone. Highly recommended.
They have a nice little scavenger hunt to do. Highly recommend
Adorable place. Very cleaned and well maintained. Beautifully landscaped. I visited on a field trip and it was a great program for the kids.
Go back in time and imagine living in the early 1900s. The Historical Village will bring you there.
Beautiful venue for a wedding! Bring bugspray!
Awsome. First time there!
The older lady with grey short hair absolutely rude as hell! Came there for a quick wedding picture and she yelled at the party and shamed the bride and the military bridal party. She didn’t ask nicely, she completely started yelling at us and shaming us like children. The bride was humiliated in front of the bridal party and the people walking around. I would never set foot in there again! To talk that way to our military members!! RUDE
A nice small outdoor museum good for families. Its too small for an all-day visit, but its interesting for an hour or two.
Enjoyed walking around to see the houses.
For a small community history collection, it is very well put together. There is an operating blacksmith forge.
Went on a 1st grade field trip. School teacher got way into the role. Interesting place.
Staff was fun and informative. Not enough interactive fun things for the kids to do.
Like a mini Greenfield Village. Enjoyable!
Museum may be a little too much to call it, but nevertheless a great local attraction for young children.
My son had his Wedding there a few weeks ago! Very cute village.
Nice place to spend a couple hours learning some local history.
We came to see the scarecrows
Friendly staff, interestinhistorical buildings and beautiful quilts today!!
