Townsend State Forest

Its remote and very private. Were camping by the squanacook river. Its beautiful here.

Ive ran this trail daily for a decade. Its beauty never fails to amaze me.

Always a great time when my family visits here. Lots of space to explore and fun little outlets off the main road to stop and enjoy lunch. Make sure you stop in at the ranger station to pay for your lunch spot, last I knew it was about $5.00 and each picnic table has a grill so you can really have a fun afternoon, splashing in the river and enjoying family time out in the woods.

Love it. Pretty, friendly, great for walks with my dog. Lovely beach too.

A bunch of nice walking trails in a reasonable size space. Given the variety of trails you can easily walk 6-8 miles without following the same trail twice even though its a somewhat compact area. Terrain ranges from mossy dark pine to upland hardwood to old bogs. If you look you can see old foundations in various spots in the woods.Winter trails are good for snowshoeing or cross country skiing.

Great area to fish, picnic or relax.

Great place for walking the dog, much better than walking your dog around a school. Really who would walk their dog around a school when this place available. Think about it.

Good place for walk... Parking place could be founded on the old turnpike road... Was able to climb on the top, as found No Trespassingsogns... But for old railroad 4+

Trail markings? Haha, there are none. Bring your GPS or youll be lost for hours

One of my favorite places in Townsend. Quiet and serene without a ridiculous drive.

Clean place with good trails to hike with the dog and geocache!
