Beautiful views! Foghorns! The Golden Gate Bridge! Lands End checks off plenty of items for a tourist visiting the city. There are easy to moderate options for exploring so you can plan a quick or long hike. Walking through parts of the path felt immediately remote and engulfed by nature steps from our car. At the visitors center there is access to restrooms and a really nice array of touristy items you actually want to buy. We didnt have time to visit all the sites and will come back.
My whole life I have never been to this nature preserve and I kept passing by it. When I kept looking at it seemed interested and how wide the land is. So last Thursday I went there my very 1st time and it was just me and my cousin. The employees at the nature center and gift shop are very kind. So many things to explore and great for landscape photography. I would like to come here again when the wake up when Spring comes and even in the summer.
Lovely urban eco system. Interesting fact the plants are involved in remediation of oil contamination from old wells that were closed years ago.
This place is amazing! Within a block of land, you experience different ecosystems and feel completely removed from the city, despite being right next to Target at the Del Amo Fashion Center. I saw so many beautiful species of birds and insects, as well as a lizard! Im excited to go back in different seasons to see how the wetlands change!
Great walk, well kept, perfect for kids. If you look closely, you can spot some cool birds and bugs.
Very very nice park in the middle of the hills... You are on streets with houses and apartments and then all of a sudden... You are surrounded by nature! Crazy quick transition! One second you are surrounded by houses and then all of a sudden... No houses but mountain and nature around you.
Pretty cool place! One of the best spot Ive visited.
Prettierin spring..still enjoyable!
Beautifully maintained nature preserve.
A perfect place to walk and explore for an hour any day. The entire marsh is gated off so you can only visit during its open hours. It makes it a perfect place to visit for a quiet walk on a lunch break. There is not much signage in the reserve, but there is a wonderful room at the Nature Center across Plaza del Amo where there is plenty of information for people interested in seeing what Torrance looked like before all the development that make it a landscape of buildings today. Though you are unlikely to see a lot of animals in the reserve, there are some (like a turtle and snakes) that are taken care of well at the Nature Center.
Fantastic, that city of Torrance preserved this place. Educational and interesting. They have programs such as stars watching in the summer with lecture beforehand, birds watching etc.The best time to explore is now and during spring and fall, since most of summers there is draught. They have wonderful exhibit inside on birds, animals who found home at Madrona Marsh.
Sweet little walking park!!
Lovely center with excellent staff. Great for Birding.
Good programs for kids. Peaceful and enjoyable time there.
I knew the marsh existed, but never knew about the Nature Center building. It has a big parking lot, very nice. There are all sorts of interesting exhibits, its a kids paradise. They got live critters, like turtles. And they have pelts, like a skunks, so you can see what the animal looks like up close.
Great place you will surely enjoy the ambiance.
Even though the marsh was completely dry, we still had fun. The fact that the Marsh evolves with the seasons makes it an adventure everytime.
Lovely nature spot in the middle of the city. You can always hear birds and can usually see butterflies. Different seasons bring different views. The staff at the nature center have always been friendly and will answer any questions with a smile.
Great spot to view birds and get a little walk in.
The Native-American exhibits need to be greatly expanded. Most of the exhibit is like being in a boring, monotonous, middle school science textbook from the 1990s. Loooong read
Sat 1/12/2019, 11 am Beautiful, sunny after a rainy morning. thought it would be fun to go to marsh and see the water, find frogs etc... Checked Madrona Marsh website open 10am-5pm. Went to marsh with 2 older kids. We found the front gate locked and while waiting for light to cross street back to car, kids were interrogated rudely by female volunteer because my son had a small net. I bought the net in the Madrona Marsh gift shop... We did not say anything and just left. On way out we saw at least 2 kids and 4 adults playing in the marsh. Went to the store & back, checked gate and it was still locked. One volunteer said the marsh was too dangerous to open and they always close the march on rainy days. Another said people were in the marsh to take photos and conduct counts. As this man was speaking I saw the 2 kids come out behind some bushes with a long stick wacking weeds and having a great time. We looked at them and he just walked away. The mantra for all these workers is I am sorry you feel that way. This is Marsh clearly being managed as a private playground.I dont care if volunteers have unlimited access - good for them, throw parties in there for yourselves, but during normal operating hours on beautiful days after a rain, dont turn the marsh into your members only playground!
An oasis of nature in the city. Great to teach children about local marsh inhabitants, birds and flowers. Wear your walking shoes!
Our family loves it here. Its a great place for children to learn. Its free, although they do accept donations. Theres always something going on here, and its a wonderful place to get children started on volunteer work, giving back to the community. Also be sure to check this place out during their Earth Day events in April.
Amazing place to find frogs and ducks in the winter. Great place for pictures and lots of wildlife.
Just Love Nature. Plants and Birds. Peaceful
Very cool area to go for walks, the pathway around the perimeter takes you all the way around from the gate and following the fence all the way around. You get nice views of the water, flowers, plants and you might come across some wild life that lives there. At the time of my visit there was many different colorful flowers and plants.Parking is available at the visitors center where you can also find a gift store, classes and various other educational things great for kids to visit
Theres not that much to see at the Marsh. Lots of sun. There are some ducks, there are caged chickens, and small lizards throughout. Mondays are closed for maintenance.
Nothing to see or observe except dry grass
You learn a lot about different species, plants.
Fun walking trails. Easy parking. Nice visitors center.
Interesting place but I was expecting to see a more natural park. Its more like a big field with vegetation and water surrounded by busy streets.
This place is a gem!
This is a wonderful place for education, art and connecting with nature!
Good place to teach kids about small local animals.
I love walking here, a plethora of native flora and fauna, even in the rain.
Great place for Birding awesome center as well =)
Never befor devolped land right in the middle of the city. WOW !
