My wife and I visited this bridge in late October 2020. We got some great pictures since its after peak season (in Maine) and tourism is at a minimum (due to Covid-19). This allowed us to see this historic bridge and all its beautiful surroundings in un-interrupted silence. It offers an amazing backdrop during the fall season.
This bridge is so cool. It is literally suspended in the air. There is nothing underneath it. No pilings or anything. The wife was nervous but it was super cool
No crowds. Great relaxing spot. Nice river view. Bridge is really swinging, especially on ends.
The bridge is cool to check out. If you are near the area, I highly recommend seeing it.
The one side has about four parking spots, the other night have more but did not investigate. There was a nice small park with benches and looks like a walking path.
Nice place to spend a few minutes and enjoy the view.
Interesting piece of living history. The kids liked playing with the cables. Lovely teeny beach with friendly ducks.
Great little park close to downtown Topsham and Brunswick. The river was running high when I was there, which is an exhilarating sight for sure! Parking can be a hassle as there is only a small lot on the Brunswick side of the river. There are displays nearby that explore and explain the local history surrounding the walking bridge. A sight to be seen for sure!
Bring your mask! Lots of people. But beautiful.
Was super pretty. Little nerve racking because I am horrified of bridges. Was really neat though. Recommend that you see it if your in the area.
Interesting bridge. Dont see these every day. It sways as you walk across it.
I came across this place when i was driving along Route 1. The river was frozen and the bridge was standing lone. Such a beautiful place along the highway and definitely a great place for photography. Maintained very well and has a little parking lot that can accommodate 7-8 cars.
This is a local favorite and a great walk with views....the bridge does swing (mildly) a bit and is not for everyone.... I love it for the views and the walk.
It really swings and like walking there. Good place to stop by and take a walk. Just be cautious of entering the parking as it’s pretty close turn with no shoulder.
Beautiful scenery. My family and I loved it.
Very fun and surprising place. Its on a very busy street from the Brunswick side so you have to hold up traffic to get into the small lot (maybe 3-4 parking spots), but once youre in and going over the bridge a beautiful little oasis awaits you on the Topsham side.
A fun historical bridge. There are plenty of places to sit and walk by the bridge.
Very cool place to explore
Great - especially here in the autumn!
Beautiful part of HISTORY, a must see!
Interesting spot. Free and you’re able to walk freely around.
My dog loves the river and the area has several good access spots
The feeling of a bridge swaying as you walk on it something that you must experience, small parking lot right there so there is almost no walking to enjoy
This is a fun pedestrian bridge over the Androscoggin River. Its great for photographs, as you have the river around you, a railroad bridge to the west, and the hydroelectric dam to the east. There are small green parks at either end (not playgrounds). The bridge, as its name implies, can be swung and moved if you shift your weight with sufficient gusto. It was built in 1935-36 as part of the Works Projects Administration.
Saw this by chance driving along hwy 1.Beautiful bridge surrounded by incredible landscape! With the stop. :)
Nice and beautiful historic bridge.
A nice stop on your way up to mid coast Maine. A small park, but the bridge does ‘swing,’ the view is pretty, there’s a little history to read about, and it was a great place to just stretch your legs for a half hour.
This bridge really is swinging! Good views of the river below. Cool little spot to stop if you are swinging by.
Beautiful views. Worth a stop.
Cool little place we spotted on the drive thru.
Ok to stop by and look. Good views
I was impressed. Yes I was.
Very cool bridge over the Androscoggin, nice views and a nice park on the Topsham side. Built by the same firm that made the Brooklyn bridge.
Great swinging bridge. Very stable and connects walking on both sides of the river.
Fun place. Great family spot
We just happened to drive by this bridge and see it and spontaneously pulled over to check it out. Super cute, nice views.
Fun little walk. Path along the river too, in the right conditions.
Insanely peaceful to walk across in the morning
My happy place...GorgeousSand beaches.cool waterRoebling Brooklyn Swinging Bridge & The One Lane railroad bridge...ducks.eagles.little fish...people oooooing & ahhhhhingPure joy!
Beautiful pedestrian bridge accessed in Brunswick or Topsham Heights. River walk on Topsham side. Great views.
Beautiful piece of engineering !!
A nice place to sit and relax by the waters edge. Fascinating history about why the bridge was built. A walk across and back gives one a chance to reflect upon the many blessings they enjoy.
Nice little spot. Looks like a few good picnic places by the shore.
Nice walk with a beautiful view. 3 small spots to park.. Unique..
Great place to spend an hour
Beautiful place to walk and bring family
In the rain and cold I walked the bridge.
One of the most unique bridges Ive even seen
This is a short suspension bridge. But the kids loved it. Pretty views. We saw a bald eagle while there.
Cool bridge cool history
Stupendous. Cute ducks cool bridge.
Great views, feed the ducks and go for a stroll. Nice loop for walking or jogging too.
This is a neat little bridge over the Androscoggin river. We were following the river on Rt. 1 near sunset and I saw a convenient parking lot off Rt. 1 to take some pictures. The parking lot is really tight, but if there are spaces it is worth the stop.
Good stop if passing this town
A PWA renovation. Solid, yet sways. Great views
Beautiful view.
Unique piece of history, limited parking but nice little picnic spot.
Love visiting here, have a lot of memories
A frequent favorite.
A fascinating piece of engineering. It even swings a little as you cross the river. A must see!
Fun, semi hidden historical swinging bridge, used by french Canadian immigrants to walk to their paper mill jobs back in the day. Famous designer/engineer. Small parking lot, crosses from a freeway to a residential neighborhood.
Beautiful view
Really great place for a hike or walk across you get a beautiful Breeze sways while youre walking and then theres all packs that you can walk on Ride Along the Androscoggin river
Beautiful bridge, up river from Brunswick. Well located and forms part of the historic river walk.
Very picturesque I would imagine during spring or fall, during the winter it allows a good view of the river. Definitely not somewhere I would go out of my way to see, but just a quick stop over on a route of already passing near it.
It was a little underwhelming
A pedestrian bridge with a drama view!
Its just a bridge man
Great place to eat lunch in peace
Cute bridge!!! Glad I saw it and took a hard turn to take a couple of family pictures. Cant believe this isnt advertised more!
We walked across the swinging bridge! It was COOL! Not something you get to do everyday!!
A sweet slice of history. You can just imagine the workers Crossing to go to the mill jobs. Pretty water and lovely ducks! Worth stopping
Loved this bridge. Its just a quick pullover stop but worth it
Fun at night.... Very pretty and serene
Nice free attraction. Really great to cross the river on a swing bridge designed by John Roebling, creator of the Brooklyn Bridge. Signs on both sides tell the history of the bridge.
Lovely views of the river along with a sense of adventure make this a fun place to stop and stretch your legs.
Beautiful River view on the bridge. Parking is limited. But, we are very happy we took the 10 minutes to walk the bridge and take photos.
I just spent an hour with one of my closest friends and her kids walking on the swinging bridge and the walking trail. Our children took pictures and well, it was a nice place to be with friends enjoying an evening walk. The river was running high and fast so it was exhilarating to be on the bridge. The walking trail brought us to a rocky island just off shore that was gorgeous. The thundering sound of the water was exciting and the flow was calming. We loved it! A good place to connect, and it was accessible and so close to Maine St.
A scenic spot on US Route 1
Just knowing the history was wonderful. A little nervous crossing but i made it. Beautiful scenery.
Cool bridge. Beautiful area. Parking lot was off of busy highway so it was a bit hard to get back on the road.
Never fallen into the river while crossing. Five stars
Beautiful place for pictures and to feed ducks.
Pretty interesting bridge. Great view of the river.
Wonderful, quiet, small park with good views and lots of history!
An amazing spot to take a picture and enjoy the beauty of Maine
I thought it was fun to walk across if youre in the area. My friend thought it was like a glorified playground bridge
Lovely view
This was really cool. Parking can be a little sketchy. But great views
Beautiful spot to walk on the Androscoggin.
