First time visiting the Toledo Zoo, and was thrilled to have come here. I know the pandemic has changed a lot of things around, but there is ample sanitizing stations throughout the zoo! Also, most of the animals were active today, which was a huge bonus! I cannot wait to come back when the weather is warmer to experience the zoo in a more normal fashion.
Experience was delightful! The shops werent open, but they had outdoor kiosks with zoo souvenirs, hot chocolate and snacks. Beautiful and well organized! An absolute must do for the Christmas season!
I went for the zoo lights, Last year and this year 2020. The zoo lights are always beautiful. This year I got engaged there, and I couldnt think of a better place if I had to. They made good use of the social distancing requirement to provide more Intimate feeling which honestly surprised me. So definitely worth going
This zoo exceeded my expectations! I had no idea zoos could be this awesome. The layout is interesting since it goes over a busy highway but it makes the experience that much better. Some exhibits were closed due to covid but they do a good job in the indoor area to make sure everyone is keeping masks on.
A great place to take the family and kids, or even just yourself. You can tell everyone is really well cared for. Only gripe is I think some of the enclosures may be too small, such as the wolf which is way to close to the highway or the bald eagle which is in a tiny tent-like enclosure near the entrance.
We are extremely fortunate to have the Toledo Zoo. Taking my little kids there never gets old. Theyre always so excited to see the wide variety of animals. And if you havent gone before, you MUST go to the Lights Before Christmas! Amazing!
One of my favorite places to visit. They are doing the best they can during Covid and it is always appreciated. Staff and zoo teens always super helpful and the animals are always so fun! The new Natural History Museum is a fantastic addition to the zoo! The dioramas are so neat. Excited to go back!!!
The Lights Before Christmas was good. But a lot of the paths were not well lit. Like the bridge over the Anthony Wayne Trail had nearly half of them. The tunnel is closed so its much less handicapped accessible.
This is a very special place for us with many years f memories. The staff goes out of their way to ensure that we enjoy our visits. So many things to see and do. Gotta love the trains!
We LOVE this zoo. We moved to Toledo 2 years ago & decided after just 1 visit that we needed a membership. I take my daughter at least once a month & we always enjoy it. Some things have changed with the pandemic, like the train line taking an hour because of social distancing guidelines, but its still the same awesome zoo with just a little wait for certain things on crowded days. So many exhibits that you could easily spend 4 hours there (which we typically do without realizing it) & the special events throughout the year are great as well!
Went to the Lights Before Christmas tonight. Parking was a breeze, and walked right in with pre-purchased tickets. The light displays were awesome, with 2 separate lights set to music displays. There were a lot of people, however it never felt crowded. Great job Toledo Zoo.
As always, the Toledo Zoo never disappoints. It is a family favorite for us. We returned today because my son wanted to see the snakes. We were surprised to see a new exhibit, The Barnyard. It was exactly what my kids were looking for. They were able to feed goats and alpacas and observe the different chickens and pigs. It is a very nice, new exhpugs. Thank you Toledo Zoo!
By far the BEST zoo in the country. Worth seeing and if your local worth getting a membership.
Great value for a great zoo and museum! I didnt get a chance to go to the aquarium so thats on my to-do list for next time, but the exhibits are awesome and theres SO much to see. Theres a neat bridge too!
There was enough parking available so that you usually dont have to walk very far to get in. Admission price and parking is reasonable (and military gets in free! ) The actual zoo was a pleasure, there werent a lot of missing animals and I swear some of them posed for pics! The zoo has a nice layout and there are benches everywhere if anyone needs a break. Ill definitely go again!
Its a great zoo. If you live within 70 miles and have kids, youll get a great time during the whole year. Theres usually something changing so you might not get bored visiting every couple of months. Usually very well organized, staff is quite attentive and honest servicing their visitors. Food is ok but it can improve. During Covid-19, cleanliness has been taken seriously so please follow the signs and rules
Nice regional zoo. We visited here from ann arbor. It is somewhat crowded by covid standard in the northeast but not bad. We had a good time.
The size of this zoo is just right. Not too big! We got a little confused with the one way arrows that have been put in to help us keep from spreading Covid-19, but overall it was a good experience.
Theyve done a great job of COVID-19 safety mixed with common sense. Lots to see and always new events. Worth the hour drive every time
Its beautiful! I love all the animals and the way they are treated. The staff does a good job keeping people safe during the pandemic, and people are respectful. The lines to get into buildings are worth the wait! There are handwashing and sanitizing stations outside every building. I really love all the animals. You must visit the giraffes!
The baby animals were so excited and ready to perform. This is a great zoo. Bring your walking shoes you will get your steps in. Food was reasonable price and good taste except the caramel corn ( carmel corn had no real taste). The have non dairy frozen treats by Dole, very taste. I recommend getting the membership it has perks like food discounts and more. Toledo Zoo a great day trip.
Very fun experience. Super cool animals they you don’t really get to see at the Detroit Zoo. Reasonably priced and can for sure spend a whole day here.
This is the best zoo! All animals look super healthy and approached us. We took great, one of a kind pictures! No wasted space, everything clean, sanitation stations throughout the entire zoo! Will, definitely, visit again and again! It also had an aquarium and a museum of Natural History!
Took the kids to the Toledo Zoo on Saturday. Overall it was a very nice experience. Staff has the flow of traffic set up good. Very strict on mask wearing inside the exhibits that are open. Plenty of hand washing stations. Not many options for food right now, I do suggest eating before/after you go or packing food to eat outside of the Zoo in the picnic area.
I had a lot of fun, saw exotic animals Ive never seen before such as a Dingo and a black cobra. It was hot but the zoo was not busy and the staff was accomodating.
Ive been three times in the past month or so, and I love it. Awesome treats, all the animals look relaxed and friendly (and spoiled). Face masks make this a safe place to have fun with the whole family. Maybe bring sunblock though!
This trip to the zoo was fantastic! The aviary was back open, which the kids loved. The new barnyard exhibit is really wonderful! The kids loved the alpacas. The splash pad and the creek in Natures Neighborhood were both open, which was a great way for all of us to cool down a bit. Our only disappointment was that Codie the Koala was no longer on exhibit. Other than that it was a splendid day at our zoo!
The holiday lights were very pretty and the zoo not too crowded. Ill have to come again during the warmer weather to see more animals but my family and I had a great time.
Zoos are our thing. We have visited Zoos both inside and outside of the US. We really enjoyed our first visit to the Toledo Zoo this past weekend. This Zoo’s layout was one of the best. It was thoughtfully laid out and accessible without having to worry if you missed an exhibit. Two things really stood out during our visit. One, the size of the exhibits themselves. Too often the viewing area is tiny but not at the Toledo Zoo. Each exhibit allows you to to get up close and personable with the animals. Two, the Croc, Rhino, and Polar Bear. We were shocked at the sheer size of the Croc we were not expecting that as we rounded the corner. Wow! Never before have we seen a Rhino or Polar Bear as interactive as the two we saw that day. We feel this was largely due in part to the enrichment objects made available to the animals which was nice to see. We would however like to see an improvement in the signage as we saw several animals on exhibit in which we could not locate anything saying what they were. This was a missed opportunity. It was also odd to see that some of the more basic animals were not available here such as Lions. Which left us wondering why ...
The zoo was very nice and clean. First time ever for us to have to stand in line to get into the exhibits. I understand the need for this. 6 foot apart and limiting numbers of people in the buildings. This is labor day weekend and the zoo was super busy. But I didnt hear people complaining about needing to wait. The employees were really good at keeping things running smoothly.
The lights before Christmas of course I was hoping theyd bring back the lantern animal displays the zoo is always clean people are always friendly
Great zoo with lots to see and do. Due to covid a few houses were closed but there still a lot to see. Sanitizing stations and mask requirements made this a safe trip. Loved the fish patting pools and the staff giving us so much information in an interesting way.
Many of the animals are available to be seen but almost all of the indoor viewing options are closed and most of the rides. The funneled way of traffic causes many back ups due to slower moving patrons. The outdoor viewing areas fill up quite quickly and there is no consideration given to smaller children who may not be able to see through the crowds. Also there are many times where the zoo has roped off a good 3 ft in front in the exhibits which makes it even harder to see into them. The bird feeder advertises that they have like 6 different flavors of dole whip but they only have two.
Never been to the zoo until I went that day and I fell in love with the zoo and the Christmas lights but I want to thank you very much
One of the best zoos we have visited. Lights were great!
Weve been going to the zoo since I was little. Now I get to bring my daughter. The membership is the best choice weve made! Out of all the zoos weve been to (DC, Cincinnati, cleveland) this one always compares very well! Thank you for all you do, and for allowing multiple generations enjoy family days here.
I LOVE the zoo! We always get a family pass and get way more than our moneys worth. My kids, even the ones that are teens now, all love going to the zoo!
The lights before Christmas was great!! We love going each year.
Our zoo is my favorite in the whole country. The only one that comes close is San Diego, but I honestly feel like our zoo competes no problem. The reason being that we have an impressive collection of species of well cared for animals, all of which are well taken care of and in awesome enclosures, with a lot of awesome structures. Also noteworthy are the sources of information and history, a knowledge staff, and well cared for grounds. #ilovemyzoo
Its the best zoo for us. A little over an hour away but worth the drive. They had an adorable Halloween party for the little munchkins.
We made a few mistakes deciding to go to the zoo today on a Sunday. It was nice as weather was 70s versus 90s. But too crowded...everyone else had same idea. We arrived 10 30 am and didnt enter zoo until 1130. Good thing we had done was buy tickets at Kroger. Child/Senior tickets were 16 dollars each there. We dont live in Lucas County so adult tickets would have been $22 each. Seniors $20 otherwise. They do have Senior specials in Sept. And Oct. They also charge you $8 for parking. The 5 minute train ride was $2.50, the merry go round was closed but tickets for that were $2. So we had tickets but still had to wait in line for almost an hour, membership line was just as bad...seems advanced tickets should have a separate line from general admissions. No paper maps, saw 3 maps in park mostly just arrow signs at sidewalk intersections. BETTER SIGNAGE PLEASE. Many water fountains shut down. Not permitted to bring own food due to Covid except medicine and formula so do bring your own water bottle so you can stay hydrated. Many food places were closed. Where they did sell food they had picnic tables, not many benches in the zoo to rest except inside residential exhibits ie aviary, etc. Bathrooms were attended to regularly. Masks were required. Socially distancing requested....but the queue to get in was the most congested area. Nice zoo but not in my top 10, much prefer the Columbus Ohio zoo.
So much fun! Beautiful displays of lights and perfect time of year to come check out the new museum and aquarium. Santa was diving at the aquarium and the ice slide was super fun. Great time!!just wish the carousel had been open.
Beautiful zoo and the lights are beautiful. Go earlier if you want to see the animals.
Toledo Zoo is designed in a way that you dont have to walk a lot before you can see some animals, seems like the design really took in account the visitor experience
Even during covid-19, the zoo continues to shine. Lines can be a bit long but the staff handles everything well. You are not required to wear masks out in the open but you are even entering a building. One problematic thing in your trip could be trying to everyone enter a more popular building like aquarium. Only so many people are allowed in so lines were long when I was there.
It was a very nice day for the zoo. Most of the animals were out to see. I liked the Primate exhibit very much.
It was a great experience. Lots of things to know and explore. Kids love aquariums hippo, elephant, otter, seals etc. There science museum is also great. One of the must see in Ohio Toledo. One thing need to fix... there is no drinking water fountain. They should open the drinking water fountain. Now please bring water personally.
One of the best zoos in the midwest. See the animals up close and the train ride is inexpensive and pretty cool. Two sides to the zoo makes it a little more intriguing as you feel like you are getting a 2 for 1 deal.
It was rainy, cold but all worth it! Dont miss the lights this year!!
Had a great day. Was very pleased how all the employees handled the 6 social distancing. They were very polite and very direct. Thank You
A great place to bring the family. Some very nice exhibits and everyone who worked there was very friendly. Well worth the drive from Michigan
Great zoo! Really like the aquarium. We went on a chilly day when there wasnt a lot of people. Many of the animals were out and active.01/18/20 we had a 1st birthday party for our daughter today at the zoo for a party of 33 people. Our coordinator was Victoria. She is wonderful. I highly recommend requesting her when booking an event. She went above and beyond to make our day perfect. She was so helpful and friendly she made everything move along smoothly. Everyone absolutely enjoyed the party. We were all a bit concerned about it because the weather was really bad. However it was so worth it.
Toledo zoo was a fun experience for us, especially my son. In such challenging times its difficult to keep kids entertained. Initially I was apprehensive as there was a lot of crowd at the entry and some people were not maintaining that 6 feet gap. Once we stepped in it got better since people could disperse easily. Its a huge property. Feeding the giraffes was my most treasured experience-its a must try! However, I did feel sad for many animals that had small enclosures. The Red pandas were adorable. The tigers were sleeping by the time we reached so I would advise to go to the zoo as early in the morning as you can to catch a glimpse of those magnificent cats.
Great zoo. Lots of stuff. Aquarium and petting stingrays. Polar bears and elephants. Really enjoyed this zoo.
Adam L. he was a little slow at the ticket booth. But a kind soul. Lots of ppl werent cooperating with your instructions and the arrows. They went as anyway they wanted. Rude but a great experience for my grand baby ( she enjoyed all of her firsts) . Thank you. Keep up the good work to keeping us all safe and happy!!!
They need to be better equipped to handled the crowds. Customer Service was very rude. Enjoyed the animals and the park!
Great aquarium. The food is ok. A very nice family experience
Had a great time at Lights Before Christmas!
We bought the annual pass. It was a great decision because we dont feel rushed knowing we can go back whenever we want to. Its less expensive than paying a couple times a year. We saw giraffes!!! It was $12 extra to feed them but it was worth it!!
Amazing zoo. Great attractions! Aquarium is still pretty new and pretty incredible. The ampetheater is amazing for concerts as well. Buying the zoo membership is well worth the money.
So wonderful, so pretty to see !!! Thank you Norm & Shannon, for a great night out.
We love the Toledo zoo and we’ve been members for several years. We travel from north of Detroit to the Toledo Zoo because we like it better than the Detroit Zoo
Teal project?!Some people have food allergies so no one can have candy this year to raise awareness...Unbelievable.Lets take fun from everyone so we can all be miserable together - by the way heres your sticker kid. Have a great day.
Very good to see the animals outside on a little chilly day. Good to get out while the weather is good.
Great place, much improved from the facilities I remember from my childhood. Tons to see, definitely plan for the whole day!
A great place to see animals and dont have to spend all day there.
This was my 1st time at this zoo and it was wonderful!!
Not a bad zoo. Lots of walking, so come prepared. My grandparents came with only one of their mobility scooters and boy was that a huge mistake. The time we went we didn’t get to see many animals unfortunately... I understand that you can’t always see them due to their sleeping habits or what have you. But it was somewhat of a bummer. We prefer the Columbus zoo.
This zoo is beautiful! The animals were out and about and their enclosures were so nice. Its a beautiful zoo to walk around with plenty to see.The aquarium is also great. Lots of marine animals to see. I could have spent hours in there alone!
Clean, safe, socially distant zoo. We visited this past weekend. The zoo was following all the CDC guidelines for Covid-19 to the best of their availability. Face masks were required, markings were on the ground to keep people 6 feet apart when waiting in line, and the facilities were cleaned regularly. For example the train had plexiglass between the rows, it was loaded to a reduced capacity, and in between runs it was wiped down thoroughly by the zoo staff. On a lighter note the animals were out, and we got lots of great photos. The animals have large exhibits and are well taken care of. I would highly recommend this zoo to anyone.
Another fantastic trip to this zoo!! They have a good variety to see! Well maintained facilitys and the design makes it easy to see more in less time!
I am giving this 5 stars because the toledo zoo is fantastic, we have been in the past, on our visit today 9-5-2020 i was a little disappointed because they are making people wait to see exhibits, which wouldnt be a problem if they were only allowing 50% in the facility however the lines were 45 to 60 minutes long and the parking lot was packed so im assuming they were at full normal capacity. Other than that its was a great day!!
Creative exhibits. Habitats are very spacious for the animals. Just a really nice mid-size zoo.
Always clean! Covid-19 has impacted everyone and changed how everyday work is performed. While the extra policies regarding social distancing, masks, and extra clean time/limits to people in buildings or forcing or areas to be closed to public access is annoying at times, I appreciate the effort and innovative ways this zoo has taken in order to both allow and offer an enjoyable zoo experience for guests. (Although less people in the aquarium at a given time allowed for easier viewing of creatures :) ) Keep it up.
IT WAS VERY FUN A GREAT TIME SOME ATTRACTIONS WERE CLOSED DO TO COVID OVER ALL A GREAT DAY.
I really enjoy the Toledo zoo. But mask wearing and social distancing was not being practiced. I wont go back till covid is gone. I seen pregnant women and children with no masks as well as adults. Thats not good.
People over 60 can get in free on Wednesdays. Not sure if its just through September or October as well. The baby orangutan is so cute. For a small fee you can feed the giraffes. If you need a electric scooter theres just a $25 rental fee.
Great time! Social distancing well done. Went early morning animals looked well.
Loved this zoo. Blue the other zoos out of the water but maybe thats just because they have different things. I love the fact that they have a splash pad for the kids there
Love this place! Great African section section. I loved the reptile house and the bird section. Flamingos are just too cute.
First visit and was impressed. Very well laid out with impressive amount of animals.
Best zoo Ive ever been to. I live in in tlledl and this is one the the best attractions in the area. I love my zoo!
It was a little disappointing because alot of the exhibit were not available like the conservatory and carousel. It was every pricey for a family of 5. The animals did seem happy like the hippo and the black bear. The monkeys were active but the tiger was not. Overall it is still a great place to take the family just dont expect all the exhibits and attractions open.
I took my daughter and her friend today. Social distancing was really not a thing. The had barriers like 5ft from where you could normally go closer to the animals however that could be to protect the animals from covid. really didnt have a good time. Sad because we drove all this way and had a different thought on how our day would have been.
Excellent zoo! We had a great time and since its at 50% capacity it wasnt too crowded, either. They have a helpful and knowledgeable staff, as well.
Had a great time at the Toledo Zoo celebrating my sons 9th birthday.
It was nice, clean, and all employees seemed to be doing a great job during this pandemic! Animas were active and very healthy looking!
The good - A good zoo with limited collection of animals. Not one of the largest zoos but well maintained, plan to spend 3 to 3.5 hours. The bad - Wait times can be long, tickets are expensive, not many discounts available except if you are a local county resident
Beautiful zoo! Grew up going here and love the different exhibits. Was here recently for a wedding. The facility was beautiful and the staff was very professional and friendly.
Lights were bright and awesome like every other year!
We went on Labor Day weekend so it was rather crowded. We did not feel they handled the lines of people as well as they could have-it felt very disorganized and slow. As always the park was clean, the animals always seem well cared for and it is usually easy for adults and children to see the animal enclosures.
It hurts me to give the zoo a lower score.I do understand the situation today is different then a year ago, or even a few months ago when I bought our membership.Three things have assisted in lowering my usual 5 star review. One is the membership. Ive called but havent been able to make a connection on finding out if the membership I bought in March and they closed a couple weeks later, would be extend for the 4 months of not being able to use it. I wish they would have just extended this type of offer on their own.Second is several of the activities/enclosures were closed. The Primates and Avairy to just name two.We dont understand why and there were no explanations given.I brought a friend and her grandchild and feel they shouldve only been charged half the price because of this.Third is that the elevator was closed off.My friend doesnt need a wheelchair yet but has 2 autoimmune diseases, RA etc. and having to use the ramp was very hard on her.She was going to use the elevator anyway and was stopped and told, rather rudely, she isnt allowed. When I explained her not needing a wheelchair, she told me that is what the ramp is for if she can walk...So, understandably things change but they need to think of how to still keep the customers a vital concern.
The aquarium, baby orangutans and hippos were just a few of our favorites! Then to top the fun off with the SPLASH PAD!!
Most of the animals were not out or their area was closed. Price of 22$ for an adult was quite a bit only to see half the animals. Same for the price for children under 12. 17$ for them plus beverages an snacks (bottle of soda 4$). were pretty high.
The holiday lights were very impressive and overall great experience.
Love this zoo! We have been coming here from Akron every year for the last several years. The aquarium here is impressive, my favorite part!
Amazing, beautiful, well laid out zoo and exhibits. I really enjoyed my time at the Toledo zoo, the animals were out, active and easily viewable. It was a nice and fun trip!
