Lovely walk through native central florida wilderness. And admittance is free! There are multiple hiking trails to explore, through fields, over bridges and through the woods. There is even a wheel chair accessible walking path. You will see many animal footprints, bugs, plants, trees, a small canal, and if youre lucky, all sorts of animals. We even stumbled across a well hidden geocaching box on one of the trails.Dont forget your bug spray!!

A heavenly oasis that barely feels like youre in Florida, especially in this cool and windy November weather. Beautiful and big trees, ferns, creek, and tons of mushrooms. Lovely & peaceful trails.

Our curiosity got the best of us when we saw the tiny sign for the entrance as we passed by on our way to our hotel. Our curiosity only grew larger as we saw signs that said for ALL visitors/hikers to check in at the hike desk.We were not at all prepared for this unpaved maze of trails, full of bugs and narrow winding paths. We didnt complete any of the trails, but we are most definitely coming back. Ill admit, we totally expected paved trails (okay, technically one very short trail is paved) and boardwalks and wide walkways. Boy was I wrong! This is the way Florida was meant to be experienced! This place is completely free, including parking. There is a small visitor center with interesting/educational information and very friendly staff (interactive exhibits are disabled due to COVID 19). Make sure to bring lots of water, bug spray (or wear long clothing), and your appreciation for nature. None of the trails appear to be very long; about a mile at the longest. The paths all seem to interconnect and plenty of signs to keep you on your trail of choice. The trails vary in width, but they can get very narrow at times, and there are various terrain elements so not all of it is flat. Definitely worth a stop if youre looking for something off the beaten path.

Excellent place to hike and relax and look at nature. I hadnt been there since 1975. We used to ride motorcycles through that back when it was woods all the way to highway 50. Dog or the motorcycle trikes but you could still see their damage in the jungle. The canal us still there its an awesome sight thats why Ive always liked riding my motorcycle to it. The flora and fauna and there are amazing. They have an interactive learning center unfortunately some of the activities are closed because of the corona 19 virus. Its free its nice its clean and the curators are very pleasant. there are some hills are some of the trails to hike so but our benches to sit down so even if you have trouble getting around I think its still a great place to get a little bit of exercise the jungle canopy hes a half way cool to the sun doesnt shine on you and its impossible to get lost all the trails interconnect and come back to the learning center

Due to Covid 19, the whole facility was not open, but the trails and bathrooms were which was nice. And the bathrooms were clean! The trails were nice, and offered different terrain for hiking. The shortest trail was completely paved, which was great because we had strollers! The other two were plenty wide enough for a double stroller, and at times, two double strollers side by side. Having the strollers was problematic in some areas, as there are parts of the trail that are uphill in soft sand (which if youre there for a workout adds a bonus challenge!), and there are stairs in another part.Overall, it is a beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature, while braving some mildly challenging terrain. The forest offers a nice canopy to keep you out of the sun too! Happy trails!

Great place to take the family for a few hours on a leisurely stroll. The trail was passable for an 11 year old girl, a 37 year old man coming off back surgery, a healthy 33 year old man and a 63 year old grandmother with a cane. The longest trail was only a mile or so in length and there were plenty of benches to sit and relax. The pathway was natural ground (no cement sidewalks). The trails consisted of hard-packed dirt, fresh, moist, soft soil, and sandy beach like ground. The temperature was cool with overcast cloud covering and most of the trail is canopied by the trees reducing the amount of direct sunlight that reaches you. Only one or two trails proved to be too difficult for those with mobility issues due to steep trails and high steps to the bottom of the ravine. After the hike the visitor center provided an air conditioned building with a water fountain and gift shop as well. There are plenty of exhibits to view for both the little ones and adults alike. Their is a nice microscope and plenty of objects to view under magnification. In the back of the visitor center is a classroom for learning and activities for the little ones to enjoy themselves in Sundays.Overall great experience for the family. Would not make this the “main attraction” for the day unless you live in the local area. For those who are traveling to the local area this is a must see place to relax the spirit and mind and reconnect with nature before continuing on your travels.

Its called a sanctuary for a reason! Lovely place to visit for a couple of hours! The gift shop was closed Saturday, which is too bad, as they would have done a brisk business today I think. I am so impressed with the hands on activities available in the visitor center! This is a fabulous place to bring children to learn and have FUN!Trail walking is all fairly easy. No pets allowed! No bikes allowed! No smoking allowed! Come with a picnic, and enjoy nature, Florida style.

This is a very beautiful and peaceful sanctuary to enjoy nature and wildlife. There are several different trails. I only walked two trails but will be returning to experience the others. Additionally, this sanctuary is also great for nature photography and general relaxation. My time here was exceedingly pleasant and serene.

Beautiful place that is FREE!! Lots of hiking trails, picnic tables, educational discovery center, library, and great volunteers. Make sure you spray yourself with the FREE bug spray before taking a hike. Its nature and there are all kinds of insects that bite, so be proactive. Informational signs throughout. No pets, smoking, or bikes allowed.Today was a gorgeous day for a sweet hike.Oh, and if youre squeamish about bugs, you can sit in the massive screened in porch and enjoy nature.

The education coordinator, Patty, helped me so much. The only reason this review got a 4 star is because the sanctuary doesn’t allow dogs but Patty gets a 10 star review because after telling me this, she gave me a list of so many other places I can go enjoy nature with my dog. Thanks again!

There is a lot of nature at this preserve, maybe a bit too much. This preserve is extremely unique in the fact that is changes so many zones in such a small area. From swamp like areas to sandy scrub areas, it has more than 7 systems in the park itself. The trials are nice and the area is tranquil. The only negative is the mosquitos are everywhere along with hornets that come after you along with a large type of carpenter ant that is in the sandy trails that prevents you from stopping due to how prevelent their nests are.

Beautiful, Magical, Enchanted, Serene, and Great Place to catch glimpses of nature, no bikes or loud noises blaring, its a good place to go if you want to get some alone time, most people are inside instead of enjoying the nature so you rarely see anyone else when hiking the paths and taking time to gaze at all the beauty, i love this place and cant get enough ..

One of my absolute favorite places to walk - quiet, relaxing, and serene ... and sometimes you see wildlife too! The trails are very well maintained and traveled. They have a good population of gopher tortoises and even have hatchlings that are visible from time to time. They also occasionally have nice events! We saw a Shakespeare in the park performances here done by the local community college and have also heard Native American flute performers here.

I love it! They have tons of trails, AMAZING views, the wildlife that surrounds you is fantastic! They have the trails, then an indoor area with posters, fossils you can play with, theres never a dull moment here. Although, I would recommend bug spray. I went there in 5th grade, everything was amazing, and then the summer of 2017, everything was still just as cool, great family experience!

In the center of the dirt parking lot is a fenced off section for turtles where we see at least one each visit. The main entrance to the trails is an indoor visitors center with a mini museum, public restrooms, and gift shop; immediately to the left of the building is a screened in area with benches for tour groups to meet. There are several miles of trails to choose from. On the scrub trail weve seen eagles flying, while on the Magnolia Loop youll see big magnolia trees, orange trees, and weve even seen hogs, but my husband and my favorite trail is the Biodiversity Loop! On the way to the boardwalk is a lookout that (when not covered by leaves) you can see what looks like a cliff-face on either side of a man-made canal, but its actually sand! Its a fun optical illusion. Once at the boardwalk youll be surrounded by trees covered in resurrection fern. I highly recommend going after a good rain because the fern turns a vibrant green -making it obvious to how the park got its name: Enchanted Forest.
