Frank Loyd Wrights Circus Tent in the Desert has graced this site along what had years ago been the main highway between Tempe & Phoenix. The colors, design elements and materials come together in a perfect marriage of fluidity & function, its just a stunning design. I developed a love and appreciation for architecture that still is with me today, in fact I was so impressed with his style there were elements that so impressed me I incorporated in the design of a home I built in the rugged California Sierras, I cant compare or even attempt the excellence Mr. Wrights legacy has blessed us with but Im always on the lookout for his other works. The Marin County Civic Center is also a great work of functional art he blessed us with.

Went back to Gammage after seeing Phantom of the Opera back in 2002 for Hello Dolly on a Wednesday evening. Upper balcony front edge row seats this time. Great acoustics for this age of building. Some building maintenance was in need of attention with chipped plaster in spots. The stage accommodated many large set changes during this play. Enjoyed being here! Recommend that everyone come experience Gammage at least once!

This is the only venue for Broadway musicals. But the sound is terrible. They have mics but amplify very little. Plus the auditorium acoustics are very lacking. If you are in the balcony or under the balcony, it is very soft. The only corrective to this is the limited headsets available on site. They are great is you can get one. You can actually hear the words. The venue is large and simple desert Southwest. Nothing beautiful or special like some older theaters.Parking is where you can find it, mostly. 88 spots for handicapped.

I am a theatre fan and the off-broadway shows that come through are always fantastic. I have seen many shows here and I have season tickets. The reason that it gets 4 stars is the acoustics. Frank Lloyd Wright was a genius at designing buildings but has no clue on theatrical sound. I am being nit picky but when compared to similarly size theatres in other cities the sound is lackluster.

Gammage provides a wonderful experience, and last nights show was OUTSTANDING. I listed 4 stars because parking is a challenge and the facility could use some TLC, but its always a worthwhile visit regardless. Clean theatre, very organized, staff runs the facility very smoothly. Prices on the foods and beverages were decent and not outrageous. Nice that you can bring your own water. The seats were comfortable and the rows were very spacious, plenty of leg room. Our seats were in the grand tier c1 row 6, I liked how we were higher up and could see everything however it was pretty high to where the the people on stage looked very small and some things were hard to see. The other thing I noticed from this angle is the large ceiling speakers blocked some of the stage backdrop and depending what show you are seeing you may not be able to see everything on the stage.

Recently went here to see the Broadway show, Wicked (which was AMAZING btw). Staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful at every turn. Their website recommends to arrive an hour early and if you do go to the gold parking. If you are less than an hour go to the maroon parking garage. Cost for parking varies ($10 - $15). We arrived 40 mins before the show started and used maroon. Staff/Police were there to help direct traffic, give directions all along the way. Ushers were great to help us find our seats. Concessions and merchandise staff were also nice and helpful. They had pricing sheets to pass throughout the line to help you decide and speed up the process. We did all this and still got to our seats 10 minutes before it started. After the show we were so impressed that we went to the box office and got tickets for another upcoming show. Note: the is a terrace area on the upper level if you want some fresh air.

Gammage is big enough to attract BIG shows but small enough to not feel like you are just a drop in the ocean. I am personally not a fan of the balconies. If you have a fear of heights the balconies (especially the top one) may not be the best seats for you, unless you have someone or thing to hang on to that makes you feel safe. Otherwise I have not had a bad experience here.

Don’t buy the cheaper seats at the top balcony- the stage literally feels like it is straight under you and you can barely see the backdrop of the stage. I saw Blue Man Group there. What can I say? Im a biased reviewer with good memories of working as an usher through my student career at ASU. The acoustics are damn decent, the seats cush, and the aisles wide with gentle staircases and ramps throughout. My only complaint is the facilities are not terribly friendly if youre on crutches or in a wheelchair (or have a brace or cane)...stairs are gentle but there are plenty of them. The architecture, of course, is renowned as a Frank Lloyd Wright creation but its still, from the outside, the wedding cake. All in all, a genteel and civilized experience from another era that shouldnt be missed.

Ive been coming to Gammage Theater for a very long time. Ive seen so many different shows here, and have enjoyed almost every single one. The venue isnt huge, which makes it feel much more comfortable and inviting. Ive sat in many different seats from right in front of the orchestra to way up in the upper balcony and dont feel like theres a bad seat in the house. No matter your budget, youll find a good seat here. My only complaint is entrance and exit to the main parking garage. It is a one way street that makes getting into and leaving a long ordeal. Its not enough in my opinion to warrant a loss of a star in the rating, however.

In actuality, I would love to be able to give damage five stars. But the truth is they need those renovations done so badly. They need aisles down the middle so people can get to seats easier and of course they need more womens restrooms. But ASU continually decides to put more money into remodeling their football stadium for games that nobody even goes to instead of putting money into the arts which are pretty much always a full house. I think damage is the best place in Maricopa county to see the big venue productions.

Cool theater and quirky design. Only two stars because the bathroom situation is not very nice. It sounds like recently they added tons of womens restrooms which is great, but what about the men? To be fair the restrooms were very clean so that was nice, but I dont like feeling like cattle being led to a trough, you can literally touch your elbows with the elbows of the guys on either side of you, no dividers or privacy whatsoever and hardly any stalls. Doesnt bother a lot of people Im sure but its just unnecessary, put one less urinal and add some dividers or something!!

I love Gammage! I used to play on the stage as a student in the Symphonic Band. I have seen many, many shows here. Such a beautiful facility. BUT one star, because nowadays I have a son who plays in the ASU Symphony Orchestra and it is ridiculous to try and purchase tickets. The cost to see the college symphony (which used to be free) is now $12 apiece, but only if you show up at the box office in person. Over the phone they cost $15 apiece, and online the tickets are $16.86! Adding insult to injury, my mom has to check her walker at the coat check. We have to haul her to her seat, which is embarrassing for her, but she wants to see her grandson play. Come on Gammage!! I know you are in the big leagues now, and TicketMaster runs you, but remember your roots! ASU Symphony Orchestra tickets should cost no more than $12 with NO FEES, no matter how they are purchased. And consider expanding your handicapped seating options.

Gammage is the most vertical auditorium I have been in. I am used to theaters like the Orpheum where seats have a gradual rise. At gammage the balcony is so steeply vertical that you cant see much of the back of the stage and you mostly see the tops of heads.
