I absolutely loved my trip to this museum. The African American gentleman working the front was so nice and accommodating to all of my questions. The space itself is very large and so clean! The state of Arizona and Phoenix has some fascinating history. Being a history buff I feel like I learned so much in just 2 hours! I will be returning for sure!
This place is a gem. Cant wait to go back.
Did you know that the “five c’s” of Arizona are copper, cotton, citrus, climate and cattle? Well I didn’t know that before here. I learned many interesting about this state. I’ve lived here for three years and loved AZ but after going here, I fell in love with it more. Probably one of my favorite historical state museums I’ve been to. This museum is for someone of all ages because they keep it simple so people everyone will understand.Arizona has a rich and complicated history and this museum really shows you all of it.
What an incredible place!!! Information from UFO to first solar house in the world right here in Phoenix! And so much more... The scenery is a bonus.
The museum is a beautiful building with huge saguaros and other cactuses in front. The displays are interesting and informative about all aspects and periods of Arizona history. The displays are set up on such away that families would enjoy them. Also enjoyed a special exhibit of photographs of homeless people in the Phoenix area along with their stories. Very meaningful and insightful exhibit.
What a fun and interesting place, its definately a hidden gem. Been in the Valley of the Sun for years and didnt know this wonderful place existed. We visited for Veterans Day weekend and it was a great event, on display was a Portrait of A Warrior works done by former president George Bush he is very talented and clearly depicted the images of our soldiers accurately it was a moving display loved it. In addition, we moved over to the rock/mineral area of the museum how exciting and interesting another must see area and lastly due to time we visited the automotive /travel AZ area how interesting this place was. Bottoming go visit you wont be disappointed lots to see will return great for kids 2 to 100+ enjoy. Also knick knacks and jewelry are sold here as well.Military discount available.
This was an afternoon well spent. We learned about the Arizona highway history, viewed a great display of minerals, rocks and gems and a display dealing with Frank Lloyd Wright. This was all on the first floor and it was all fantastic. Then we proceeded up the stairs to Arizona history and we were WOWED! The history presented taught us things we did not learn in school and the like. All the exhibits throughout were well done and included pertinent and interesting information. Parking is no problem and the folks at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. Of note, if you have any military experience your entrance is free and if not it is very reasonable...seniors $10. This is worth the entrance fee and your TIME!!! We will no doubt go back again should we find ourselves in the area.
Came to see the Bush Portraits..well laid out exhibit.
Nicely organized displays, with an interesting mix of Arizona and US history. Went on a Saturday and it was not crowded at all.
We, Lovefest Church are meeting here for our Sunday service @ 10 am. Beautiful space
Learned alot about the history of Phoenix, displayed perfectly. Could of spent more time there, will go by myself next time.
1st visit. Tucked away it has great views of Camelback mountain. I went as a guest speaker. Auditorium was open & well light. Beautiful courtyard for any event you would like to host.
Really enjoyed this museum in a beautiful building!
Upon walking in, I thought the prices were ridiculous. $12! But, when I continued to the exhibits, I understood why. This museum is so informative! Every gallery stores so much history, and its amazing to find it all in one place. The upper galleries especially, because thats where most everything is. It is also amazing because in 3/4 of the upstairs, it feels like you actually are back in time! I recommend this museum to anyone and everyone!
Great place to visit with many aspects of Arizona history covering over a hundred years. I was able to see the special exhibition of President George Bush paintings of American military who served with honor and distinction.
Great place with lots of cool rocks. Gift shop with necklaces, amethyst, petrified wood, etc. Overall amazing place.
I spent an afternoon at the Center viewing the current exhibit - Portraits of Courage which was very nicely exhibited. I bought the book a couple years ago...so I wanted to see the painting first hand. I like that the Center brings these types of exhibits to our area. My favorite permanent exhibit is the World War II area upstairs. Without planning it I was there on the 77th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I went to the one area of the exhibit...sat on the chair and listened to President Franklin Delano Roosevet tell the American people via radio that the US had been attacked. I think next year on December 7th I am taking my grandson to the Center just so he is able to listen to the President give the US the news...and then we will be able to discuss how that type of information would be delivered to us today..and why was it delivered like that in 1941...I think the Center is accomplishing its purpose.
My first visit to the this venue, I wanted to see the exhibit Footprints in the Desert, about Frank Lloyd Wrights impact on this area. It was very well done. I had no idea, however, what a fabulous collection of history was contained here. So much to see and learn - loved the history of copper mining. A real bargain for a $10 admission (for seniors). Easy parking, Highly recommended.
Historic Phoenix beautiful night setting.
Perfect place to learn about the history of Arizona with an emphasis on the 20th century
Always fun & beautiful! SO much to see & do & in some rooms, so much to climb on & play with & touch. And almost as much to see outside as inside.
I was there for a end of the year celebration. It was great. I only had time to see some of it but it was really great. There is a lot of Arizona history, the good and the bad. I want to go back and see it all and have more time to spend reading all the information.
Great history, hidden gem in Tempe. More People need to visit.
I took my 6 and 10 year old kids here hoping theyd learn about some Arizona history. Great for kids! Very educational for the young and old. Lots of hands on activities and old pictures. Wonderfully staged walk through the late 1800s-present time. Highly recommend. A great way to beat the summer heat.
Very interesting museum on Arizona history. Highly recommend it.
Arizona native or just passing through this is a must see. I lived here all my life and I loved the memories it brought back along with the pictures and history before my time.
I picked up Culture Passes from my local library for this place and found it to be a very fun place to take the kids. As you walk through the wings and travel through Arizonas history from the beginning of time all the way up to present day. My children loved the history of transportation section where they have model cars that they allow the kids to climb all over!
Liked this place a lot. Very nicely done and the expositions were awesome.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time here yesterday.Have lived in the valley for 30+ years and had never been there before yesterday. $10 for seniors (65+) and $12 for adults.
The Arizona Historical Society Museum is one of Arizonas best kept secrets for holding an event. Id like to spread the word about this beautiful venue. Weve had several events there and our guests truly loved everything about the venue. The event staff were so accommodating and easy to work with. The facility offers so much flexibility as far as being able to use whatever caterer you prefer, bartending service, and other vendors you want to bring in. I highly recommend the Arizona Historical Society Museum for your next event!!!
Great exhibits about Arizonas mining history.
I was there for Historical League reception. Terrific event space, outdoors or indoors, in an Inspiring museum of state history and culture.
Cool little (hidden) museum about AZ history. Worth seeing for sure!!!!!
This museum has some great exhibits giving an Arizona perspective to things like the depression, ww2, mining, civil rights and so on. Well worth it.
Ive lived in Arizona all my life and have never been here until recently, I was very impressed by all the history of Arizona.
Really big and nice venue to host an event at.
A little expensive for the size but still an interesting experience.
Loved it . Really interesting to see.
Start with the bad first, some of the information is dated, some exhibits need to be redone, and there is a heavy phoenix bias to the displays. But the quality and quantity of information is awesome, the staff is excellent, and some of the exhibits are really interesting and engaging, like the Roosevelt dam and the copper exhibits. My father and I read everything and spent 4 hours just upstairs!
I like the facility but wasnt feeling the presenter today.
Fantastic,Great for the Whole Family.
This was wonderful. Cant wait to go again next year. I had no idea of the history of our area!
Excellent history museum of the Phoenix area. We spent 2 hours and really enjoyed it, and found it well worth the admission.

Love this museum. Its really cool and educational!
Great place for wedding events.
Used to be better several years ago. I think they lost a key staff member or something, it has been steadily declining for almost a decade.
Great Arizona landmark. Go there for sure.
Great, friendly, and informative.
Very nice place
Great events venue
A must see when you visit or live in Tempe
I thought the entrance fee was a bit high and the handicapped parking was still quite a ways from the entrance.
We had only one hour to look at the displays. Wish we had had more time there.
