I love this little theater! So close to home, walking distance to many charming shops in downtown Taylor. Affordable to see new movies and not crowded, you can show up 15 min before most movies and still get great seats :)

One of the oldest movie theaters still showing first run pictures. Nothing fancy but you can always count on finding a good seat... and refreshments are reasonably priced.

Oh my gosh, childhood memories, I am family friends with the owner. My dad and I watched Gladiator with him in the upstairs segregation era theater room right after the owner bought the theater and began. restoration of the then forgotten theater. I am so glad his investment paid off and the community is still able tp enjoy the atmosphere and piece of history! Huge kudos!!

Great small theater. In the heart of downtown Taylor. Gets all the new releases without the crowd. $8 for a ticket and reasonable concession stand prices for a theater. Upstairs theater is a little small but still a great spot.

I love the fact that taylor has it own movie theater. It has a cozy feel to it. It may be small but its very comfortable and the prices are phenomenal. It shows 2 movies at a time and it has reasonable show times. You dont have to wait in those annoying long lines at the bigger movie theaters that has poor customer service. Here at howard theater you get excellent customer service and you are treated like family. Thank you howard theater for keeping our town on the map.

Took my kids to go see the new Spider-Man and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised but how this theater was and such a small town. What a great asset to Taylor Texas. The downstairs theater is a modern theater and great for watching whatever movie you choose. The upstairs theater is more retro more old-school with a stage and all it would be great for watching classic films. Not so much new movies. FYI

Nice little place. I am not really a movie type, if I choose to attend I like a Flix type atmosphere. This place has a simple popcorn/coke feel and I liked it. Don,t expect to get a first class sound system, the screen size was just right. Will visit again.

I love that my sons get to watch movies at the same place as I did when I was their age. Weve been coming to the Howard for years already & weve NEVER had a BAD experience. The employees have excellent customer service and the concession and admission prices are VERY reasonable. Instead of wasting gas to support other cities think about The Howard. First post was three years ago, it is now 2019- & we still get fabulous customer service and they still have reasonable prices.

Great place to watch New Release movies... for being in such a small town its a blessing to have them here. Forget the big city theaters with all the chaos and commotion. Watch a movie at The Howard, small respectful crowds and still all the movie staples in the concessions you need.

Ma
Review №31

It is a nice comfortable place to spend a few hours. The releases are always current. The staff is friendly. I saw that some people were complaining about the concession prices. Most of the movie ticket pricing goes to the studios. All theaters have a good mark up on their concessions. It is where they make their money. Employees, electric to cool/heat that big area, rental on the building. Not enough people are going to even cover their basic expenses. I will really miss them if they close down. I am a regular about once a week.

As a recent patron of the Howard Theater, I can tell you that they have upgraded many things mentioned in older reviews. It is also a historic theater, so you get the opportunity to watch current films in a theater that is like a time machine.Admission is a fair price. It is never overcrowded. I will always use it as a first choice if they are showing the film I want to see.

Super excited about the upgrades and staff improments. The review from 3 years ago about Iron Man 3 was spot on. Staff didnt care what was happening with the movie, etc. Said Id never go back. Usually we go here since its so convenient. I got off work got the kids and dinner and rushed there to make the 630 showing. We showed up at 643 and were told since it has been 30 minutes we couldnt purchase tickets. I am not happy because it hadnt even been 30minutes. Try telling two kids they cant go in the movie and to come back at 930. Like Im really going to drag them out at 930? Kind of a disappointment since it was supposed to be a treat for the kids being good all week.

This theater is NOT very well kept up, it is always dirty and the seats just collapse when you sit on them. . The screens are small, I mean SMALL. Sure the price is less than other theaters but they also charged me for my 8 month old! Other theaters would not do that. The concessions are SERIOUSLY over priced. The candy is just the basic candy size you would get from Wal-Mart for 59 cents yet they charge the same as a normal theater. 2.50 - 3.00 a pop! The popcorn is usually stale, mainly because it isnt real movie popcorn but popcorn popped in a boring old popcorn machine with no butter, again, the popcorn is expensive as for the price the size is smaller than a more commercial theater. They can claim they are cheaper all they want but everything is at least half the size of a larger, nicer theater for maybe 25 cents less. In my opinion you are paying more for less when you get half for pretty much the same price. The people at the counter are usually teenagers that joke around a play like they are at home not like they are representing a business. You pay for your movie and concessions at the same time and more than once they have over charged me on their outdated cash register. Sometimes I would swear they were just typing in whatever.Nobody posts anything because the theater offers freebie movies during the summer. In my opinion they have to because if they didnt nobody would come and pay to see a movie here. I think locals do it out of guilt or because they dont know any better. I will take my kids to this theater because they dont like the 20 minute drive to a better theater (there is a 1.00 movie 20 minutes from Taylor) but I would never waste a date night with my husband here. Also they do not support local causes at all. I know several people in Town (and a few in Hutto) who have contacted them in some way or another about some pretty important causes. And they do nothing to show their support. They will not even put up flyers. Even the worst business in Taylor will put up flyers! Not that they are obligated to do so but they call themselves a community theater. In a normal situation a community theater would support their community. Especially since the Howard claims to support the community. As far as the savings Howard claims I save about 10 bucks when I go here if I am NOT going to a Matinee. I can find Matinees cheaper than the Howard (Howard is all shows, all ages 5.00). NONE of which will charge me for a baby who sleeps through the movie (on the days the baby comes I only save about 5 bucks). But when you consider the candy is TRIPLE the size of the Howards for only 25 cents more you arent really saving a thing. Really, you are getting ripped off because you get less and have a not so great and UNCOMFORTABLE movie experience. I would rather pay the extra 10 bucks and enjoy myself!
