Attended a wedding...museum was very cool, lots of historical artifacts...great to see how our first responders have evolved with time...I am going back to get a T-shirt to show my support.
This museum is a truly interesting. From the brick walls holding it up to how they used the old garage doors and turned them into clear windows with displays. I came here because of the annual Pediatric Burn Survivors 5k that they host and it was a blast! The kids enjoyed all their displays and learning new things!
As a child, I spent a great deal of time at this firehouse, as my father started there as a rookie fireman and retired a chief across the street at the new firehouse. My fathers memorial service was held there a few years ago and my son (also a Tampa firefighter) had his wedding at this station, now known as the fire museum. Both celebrations were equally beautiful. Nick and his mom are so easy to work with and will accommodate you in every way possible. They do a great job. It is because of them, the donations and the unfaltering loyalty to all firefighters, that keep station #1 a museum. By preserving it with the dignity and the respect it and its firefighters deserve, my memories continue to be forever fond ones. Firehouse 1 and its many residents that still listen for that bell and slide down those poles, from firehouses everywhere, will be forever grateful.
Went with my boys scout group, and the staff was extraordinary!!! They guided our semi-large group through some very interesting exhibits, explaining and answering questions from Scouts. They took extra time to accommodate our requests. We were then taken to the firehouse and given a grand tour of the firefighter, and paramedic equipment, including vehicles.
Its sometimes hard to find a field trip that works for preschool through high school but this one fit the bill. The museum is very small but the docents do a great job of showing the relevance of all the items in the space and making it understandable for the varied ages represented in our group. Then we got to go across the street to the actual modern fire house and see the big rigs. The kids loved that. All of the firefighters and staff we met went above and beyond for our group. The museum is free so its a good way to spend an hour or so if youre in town for a trip.
Great event space. Awesome staff! They do charitable events all the time that are a lot of fun and public welcome. If your booking an event here, they are open to any questions you have and very helpful! Great way to learn the history of the fire service in the Tampa bay area. Definitely worth a visit...
We had our sons birthday party here. It was perfect for the group of four year olds. They had a blast! The trip across the street to the fire station was a big bonus.
I took my whole family. I really enjoyed it. And it was FREE! We also parked right outside the museum for FREE.
Although I was there to cater an event, it was a super cool place. All of the gear they had was really cool and there was plenty of information about it. I got to learn something while I worked! The fire station is across the street and I got to see the trucks leave a few times. Great place for kids too!
Excellent place to visit really cool history and a wonderful memorial display for that sad day Sept 11th highly recommend checking this place out
Great place to see many antiques paintings but not allowed to make noise.
Small. As far as Florida fire museums go, TFM is a standard size. Staffed by a really nice Tampa Fireman (HQ is directly across the street.) and a very nice lady volunteer. The equipment on display are a 1949 Mack open cab pumper that had been used by the citys FD and a pretend fire engine. Actually it was a salvage truck until fitted out to give kids hayrides at different events. Someone stuck a deck gun on it to make the old Chevy look fire engine-ish. A nice place for kids, school outings, birthday parties, or family visits. There also is a display of an old Gamewell telegraph alarm system, a number of hose reels (a really authentic wooden hose reel from Rutland. Vermont, and a couple of manicains in turn out gear past and present. Ive visited twice. A great way to spent 45 minutes to an hour.
Very Informative & Educational#343 #getafterit #jockowillink #disciplineequalsfreedom #def #specialriskforopenwatermen #tampa
What a great place to bring the whole family. This beautiful old building has been restored keeping the history preserved. If only the walls could speak all the stories they would share!
Very interesting! Fabulous gift shop.
My son went to a party here. He had so much fun playing with everything and I loved that it was educational too
Fun place for the kids. They have kids birthday party too, there was a party when we visited. Looked like the kids loved the birthday celebrations with really fire trucks around them
A beautiful and historical monument to the hardworking men and women of the City of Tampa fire department. Joy, Nick and the rest of the staff there work tirelessly and go above and beyond to give visitors an excellent experience! Definitely a good place to go and visit and even plan parties at!
The building is a beautiful piece of history. The museum inside shows the difference 100 years makes in advancement of firefighting apparatuses and clothing.
Great Experience! Joy and Nick are super helpful. It was really neat to see the difference between the old and new equipment. They also have a couple old fire trucks on display! Cant wait to go again!
I havent actually toured this museum yet but I certainly hope to in the near future. It is conviently located across the street from Tampa Fire Rescue Headquarters Station Number One in the heart of downtown Tampa. The buildings exterior is in classic turn of the century form and makes a beautiful contrast to the multitude of modern structures around it. This museum is definitely on my to do list.
Or BNI group meets there every Friday morning. Cool place
Really nice small museum. Call ahead for childrens programs.
Great museum. Very well maintained.
The museum was so good and full of paintings but the staffs is not good to their visitors.
Great spot for a kids birthday party.
Honored to be at the 9- 11 tribute with Tampa fire department and the Tampa firefighters museum
Very cool historical place, I went for an event and was amazed at how beautiful it was, also Ive been in Tampa 18 years and never knew it existed, happy I found this gem !
Captures the history very nicely.
If you want to see history of a fire department then the Tampa Firefighters Museum is a must. The rich history of the Tampas Firefighter from its beginning to its present. Great for kids and family.
This was a really cool place. Looking forward to going back really soon.
Free entry to visit. Went there for a friends wedding and they were very accommodating. They have a great space for entertaining upstairs. They were flexible about parking for setting up and they got parking nearby for the weekends event.
A nice piece of Tampa history. One exhibit in particular has some surprising information on how the old fire alarm system worked.
We had my sons 3rd birthday here this weekend. It was wonderful! Everyone (the kids and adults) enjoyed it. The venue is really nice and bright. The old equipment and trucks they have are really neat. They have hats and gear for the kids to put on. Scott is the director and is wonderful too! He set up the tables and chairs for us, gift bags and helped us arrange the firestataion tour. He was great to work with. The fire station is next door. The tour was very fun and impressive. The firemen let the children get into the firetrucks and the did a few fun demonstrations. We will definitely have another party here in the future.
Well done restoration. Great event venue.
Not only is it Tampa history, but also how firefighters used to locate and extinguish fires back in the day, so fire history as well. From horse drawn equipment to being in the old #1 station complete with fire pole and a small souvenir shop.
We celebrated our sons 6th birthday party here. It was an awesome place for a party of 12 kids and parents. They included a tour of the real working firehouse across the street and everyone loved it. I’m highly recommending it along with their great staff!Proud Parents
One of the place that you must visit if your at Tampa, it tells the history of the fireman and I guess this is also a good place to bring your kids over, you know exposure to its local history is a plus.
Went to a wedding here. The facilities were so nice and well kept. Very happy with how the staff handled the crowd.
Lots of history and knowledge! You can also have a party hosted here.Gift shop goes strictly to upkeep of the museum, so if you like the place, buy a t-shirt.
I would recommend anyone to go see this place amazing
Had the pleasure of stopping by yesterday with my wife and 2year old. I dont think it says so on the website, but admissions free, just pay to park.Joy greeted us at the door and was cheery, welcoming and informative. The building was pristine, exhibits interesting and nicely displayed, and the kids section was a lot of fun for my little man. The biggest kick for him though was watching though the big arched window as the engine company across the street turned out for a run.I grew up in the Bay Area, and its nice to see downtown blossoming and embracing its history. Always good to be back.-Phil GordonFDNY Ladder 176
Cool place to stop in and see some neat history. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Plus it is FREE! My kids loved it.
My sons wedding was just here. Its a museum that is a must see. Thanks to Nick for making it a beautiful, organized, and beautiful memorable day.
Great place to visit or work.
A great experience!
Very cool exhibits! #BNITAMPA
This beacon of Tampas history is a worthwhile trip. The substantial brick building itself is a testament to the strength and heart of the firefighters who used it. Anyone who loves history, community service or simply has a curiosity about the lineage of the firefighting role in Tampas past would enjoy this place. We are so grateful to those men and women who give so much and we felt humbled being in this historic place.
Fantastic time
Cute little place to take the kids. Theres a cite fire truck the kids can play on but thats pretty much it. Probably spent only 30 mins here.
Attended a fundraiser here, nice open areas, plenty of bathrooms and elevators are quick. Overall great experience.
Never knew this place existed! The kids had a blast! Tons of information about the fire rescue crews of the past!
This is an awesome place to take your kids and to get history of Tampa Bay..

Great place for a grand wedding believe it or not!
Good fire museum that is an actual retired fire station.
Very nice venue and great collection of memorabilia.
It is great for being free!
Very nice - neat to see a piece of firefighter history in Tampa. Admission is free, but it does cost a little to park, but its worth it.
Great place to take young kids to. Lots of hands on things for them to do. Staff is very nice, and a wealth of knowledge about fire history in the Tampa area
Tampas original station 1, history of the fire department in Tampa, artifacts and pictures. Educational.
CALL BEFORE YOU GO. My family and I planned our sons two year old birthday around our visit to the Tampa Firefighters museum. I contacted the museum about a month prior to our visit to ensure they would have normal hours of operation on his birthday. Again, I confirmed a week before our visit then checked their webpage and facebook page to ensure there were no conflicting events. The morning we arrived at the museum we were informed by an employee without so much as a name tag that the museum had been booked for a private party. He was terse, unprofessionally dress, unapologetic and smug.As a former non-profit professional, I understand that resources are limited in this sector. However, the Tampa Firefighters Museum failed to utilize ANY channels of communication to inform their guests and local community that the museum would not be open to the public on this date.Instead, we were told to come back in a couple hours after the private party had come to a close. I have two very small children under the age of two and as any parent or educated adult would understand, my kids would soon need to nap and we would not have been able to return before the museum had closed for the weekend.Myself, husband (a former paramedic himself) and parents who had traveled from Odessa to visit the museum were sorely disappointed with our experience.I am posting simply to prevent this from happening to another parent and with the hopes that the Tampa Firefighters Museum will achieve a higher level of professionalism.
Really cool place. Ill be back.
Worth a visit when you are downtown. Friendly staff.
The building needs to be cleaned and all the black mold on the outside needs to be removed.
The were there for a wedding, we want to return to see the museum during the regular hours!!

My daughter liked it. But she also has interest in being a firefighter one day.
Its free! That in itself was awesome. Parking is annoying though.

Great place for a tour or an event. Love the gift shop.
Great event space, but really neat little museum as well!
Nice venue - they did a beautiful restoration to the building and the museum looked pretty fun for kids.
Served as the host site of a 5K, neat representation of those that serve their community as first responders.
