Teachers weren’t the best. A few were really good, more really bad and a lot were just mediocre. Cliques and drama were borderline tribal, but I hear that’s a common trait for middle schools, so whatever. The artsy environment made up for everything, though. Being encouraged to express myself through art and the access to these sorts of resources was amazing. Despite suffering through the atrocious horrors of Mrs. Stratton’s class and the fact that my middle school years were the worst of my life for more than a few reasons, when I look back at Rollings, I look back fondly. Instead of the bad, I mostly remember the good about my education. I suppose there’s just something about it. Middle school sucks, but Rollings makes it not so bad.
This school is amazing! Mr. Vick and Mrs. Moody are the best teachers there!! Especially in 8th grade there are many teachers rooms open for you to eat lunch/hangout and do work. You will want to find some really good people to be around and hang out for the whole 3 years. Also remember to hide babies in Mr. Peters class because it makes him very confused and its funny.
I love this school so much! Everyone there is so accepting, and the teachers are AWESOME! This is my last year and all three have been great. Even though Im straight, I know for an absolute FACT that this school is very friendly to LGBT+. Im in Theatre, but all the cores are good. Just watch out, though. Rollings is VERY cliquey. You have a friend group, and you stay with that group. If you leave to join another, they WONT let you back in. Other than that, everything and everyone is really nice.
Its good! :D
I would encourage every parent with a child passionate about the arts to apply for Rollings Middle School. Through artistic, social, and emotional development, you will undoubtedly see your child grow as a learner and a soon to be functioning member of society. They help create a sense of safety and positivity within the classroom and encourage excellence in all students. Teachers push for hard work, but are there every step of the way with assistance and encouragement. Rollings offers an above average education in both academic and artistic studies, which essentially helps further your childs ability level. Students that have attended this school, like myself, are better prepared for future situations and higher level education. Middle school can be a scary transition for students and parents alike, but every member of Rollings has your childs best interest at heart and at the end of the day you can confidently know that your child is at one of the best schools in the state of South Carolina.
I lOVE This school so far...
I dont know if I could have had a more wonderful experience in middle school. I have never met so wonderful friends if I hadnt attended this school. The teachers were so kind and caring, you could also tell that they loved there job and loved being there everyday which just made the experience there even better! All of the teachers I had were amazing and I couldnt have asked for better. I loved going to school everyday knowing that I would always be safe and that I would learn something new and interesting. The teachers also had something with every student that you normally dont see in most schools, a relationship to where they can relate to you and understand your struggles in that class. As far as the core art classes and teachers go, they were very nice and taught me so much about theatre that I could have never imagined!! I have never had such a wonderful experience and most 100% recommend you or your child try out!! I am very sad that I will have to leave this school this year. I am very thankful for the wonderful opportunity to learn what I did and met who I did!!
I honestly love it here except for my teacher...Altman. She will legit shush you if you say anything, no lie. Also, she only follows Mr. Halls rules not her own. She isn’t very independent if you ask me.
I really enjoy this school! We have many freedoms here like most of the staff and people at school are very open minded(except some homophobic people) and it is a very safe place for LGBT students! Which I appreciate a lot! Most of the kids are weird here which is good, and I made many friends who have the same interests as me and they dont judge me for who I am or what my sexuality is! My one main complaint about this school is the counseling... The councilor promises children that she wont tell their secrets but thats not entirely true and I cant really trust them with emotional support...and our book bags are WAY TOO HEAVY I mean I leave some of my textbooks we never use in class at home because theyre too HEAVY!!!I enjoy this school overall, Im glad our new school has lockers to fix that problem, but they probably need to make the time between classes longer because 2 minutes is waaaaay to short...make it at least 3-4 minutes...
This school is pretty good. The administration are always open to help and through my 2 years so far that I have been learning here I have made some good friends. Sploosh
This school is great theres a lot of great teachers but there are also a lot of gays be prepared
Best school. It has nice teachers, fun classes and everything. 10/10
Its a pretty neat school. There were some good teachers, there were some bad ones. You learn a bunch of cool stuff, like what happens when you hold down Ctrl N... No lockers though... T_T
There are some teachers there that really need to improve because there boring. They need to learn how to be fun. The custodians need to stop being in some of the kids conversation. But everything is good. Also some of the teachers are mean and yall need to teach them to be nice.
I hate it all they have to eat for lunch is beans!!!
Great band program! Ms. Evans is the best!
Most of the teachers are very helpful but some are kind of annoying. dont have very much freedom even though were in middle school and we dont get to use electronics like ALL other middle schools. Even just using them as resources or during courtyard and lunch (which is supposed to be our freetime).
Wonderful learning environment. Great teachers!
K i left a review in 7th grade giving it 4 stars but im gonna give it a big ol one star now that im online schooled. so much drama and cliques lol. cant find any friends at rollings because most people there are so judgmental and act like theyre superior. its a huge popularity contest that i would never go back to.
Dont believe all the hype about what a great school Rollings is. The school has very poor leadership. They allow students with serious behavior issues to continue attending school instead of doing their job and removing them so they wont be a distraction to others. Very disappointing.
Great choral program. Lots of people that couldnt get their heads out of their...hats but also lots of very accepting and nice weirdos there. Teachers were frickin awesome and Im disappointed that some of my favorite teachers from last year and the year before dont teach there anymore, cri. Im in 9th grade now and I miss it sooo much. Would recommend.
THEY DONT HAVE LOCKERS, SO WHEN MY BACK BREAKS IM SUING.
I am going Rolling s middle School of Arts I am going to that because they do singing and It safe I hope this year is Amazing
My kids personally LOVED Rollings a great enviroment and learning exprience in the arts. My daughter is now attending Governes School For The Arts (2 best highschool in SC) and loves it and personlly thinks that Rollings really prepared her
It was cool in 6th grade but the teachers and everyone else are pains in the butts wouldnt recomend coming
I am in 8th grade now and I have absolutely loved RMSA and I know for a fact that it does not lie about why it is one of the top schools in the state in my 2 years of being here I have experienced hard times with my grades but I know the teachers will never quit on any student this is the best school for someone to be at if you dont have many friends because its so small you will know almost everybody by the end of the year guaranteed love this school keep up the good work.
An excellent school with a wonderful variety of classes. My child has enjoyed attending RMSA and has received a wonderful education.
I go to this school and its great!I love it. no bullying or fights.
Great school -- wonderful education for two of my kids. Current administration needs to be prompted to address real problems (because they are so rare) -- but overall an excellent learning environment.
Kennedy is the coolest student at rollings ......our stage is small and Mr Walsh is the best teacher there
Well, I came here expecting money. They told me Id be paid, BUT THEY NEVER GAVE ME MY MONEY! This is very disappointing, a prestigious school of the arts should AT LEAST pay their students. =( Cmbro cant stop actin like moana he cant stop singin about his 40s in geometry tho
Best school in the world** Ms. Lemon is DA BOMB
I love the teachers there!Im so proud to be in strings
These past three years at Rollings Middle School of the Arts has provided me with an unbelievable amount of knowledge. I have had Mrs. Farmer, Mrs. Ratliff, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Wooten, Mr. Pippin, Mr. Thompson, Mrs. Arnold, Mr. Walsh, Mr. Hall, Mrs. Lemon, Mrs. Moody, Mrs. Skow, Mrs. Hauptman, Mr. Bey, Mrs. Sauer, Mr. Rodríguez, and Mr. Johnson. All of them have been wonderful. I would recommend this school to anyone with a special talent. I am going to miss RMSA next year, but I have had a great time academically, athletically, and socially at this school. Thank you for that you have done Rollings. GO KNIGHTS!
This school is fun. I like science and certain teachers. Mrs. Harp is really good tho. jk lol. jk bout jk. I
Im going to the 7th grade as a RMSA student and so fars so good
Rollings is a pretty good school. Mrs. Harp is probably one of the best teachers here. She really put effort into her class. Some of the other teachers didnt seem to do that at all. Mrs. Stratton really is not a good teacher. She always has an attitude when you have a question and is always unhappy in class. She also is very boring and doesnt try and make the class fun. I remember just one class where the class was actually fun in the whole year. Someone should tell Dr. Sobolewski that Mrs. Stratton is super nice and friendly to her and Mr. Pye but whenever there not around she is a completely different person. However the other teachers are very good. The front office staff is very nice and friendly and good neighbors. The 6th grade teachers were all very good and helpful as well as the 8th. Mr. Hall made is class interesting which was good because coming into rollings i wasnt getting good grades in science but Mrs. Wooten, Mr. Hall and Mrs. Sauer i was a straight A student. I never got bullied. Most of the students are pretty friendly but the girls are all very mean and not good neighbors to each other. There is a lot of gossip and cliques though. Overall it was a pretty good school with good teachers.
If your kid gets a particular 7th grade math teacher, you are in for a year of teaching math. Admin knows it but lets the teacher continue. Too bad, but otherwise school is ok. They make claim as one of the top schools in the state, but thats because the students are selected.
