Had a great, very affordable stay with a beautiful view in the off season. Private and great location to access the entire peninsula in a day. We will definitely be back!
This resort is beautiful but humble, and a great, safe escape during the pandemic. Was absolutely amazed by all the steps they have taken to adapt to the covid 19 pandemic. We came here hoping to get a safe getaway for a weekend and it paid off. It does mean some changes what youd normally expect from lodging stay, such as no daily housekeeping and no front desk staff, but workarounds put in place are more than sufficient and very safe. The resort it self is right against the waterfront, with ample space for boating using the included boat rentals and fishing. We didnt use the pool or spa but both looked clean and very nice.We stayed in the Aspen cabin, which was spacious and comfortable. The bed was very soft with plenty of pillows, and the fully loaded kitchen was great for cooking some breakfasts and even a steak dinner using the included grill! The resort is perfectly located, about a half mile walk to the ice age trail and a short drive from other state parks. Lots of restaurants in the area, some of which do delivery right to your cabin.Overall, a wonderful escape made all the better by being a safe getaway from the pandemic. Would stay again.
It was spotless with great furnishing. the location (on the lake) is in a truly memorable part of beautiful America. I first stayed here 40 years ago. Now, in the same cabin, I can tell you the updates are a source of awe. I have work all over the lower 48 as a contract engineer, and stayed in many hotels, so I can say with credibility the Cliff Dwellers Resort is the finest accommodation I have experienced period! The price is unbelievably low making it a great value for your vacation dollars.
This is our second time staying here back to back years. We did have to wear our masks going through the entry way and hallways. They have a pool and a hot tub. Bikes too. The view is beautiful. It’s was a nice place to come back to after you have explored all of door county.
Affordable off season rates. Comfy bed.
Loved everything about this place and I mean everything, already planned more trips back to this resort. A+++
I love cabin/condo 105! My #1 go-to vacation spot. I have stayed in 105 three times. Great amenities like comfy bedding, Netflix and comfy furniture. Very clean and well kept. Will be coming back for a fourth time.
Good rooms for a great price. Also almost all the rooms have 2 floors.
Is this Wisconsin? Im not sure I thought I was on another planet called heaven. Amazingly beautiful Resort. All the Comforts of home without the effort of taking it with you. Very quiet serene and beautiful corner of Door County right on the bay sandwiched pleasantly between a wonderful Preserve with jogging and bike riding paths along the cliffs and a town with all amenities at your disposal. From what I can see every Cottage or townhome here has a beautiful view of the Bay. Heated swimming pool, hot tub, sauna with shower room, kayaking, bicycles, and boats right on the bay no extra charge. The staff is amazing and will show up to help you with whatever you need at your call yet completely invisible during your stay. Town homes and cottages make up this lovely resort. Our Cottage had a full kitchen bath and living room amenities along with a gas grill on the front deck overlooking the bay. The bed was extremely comfortable with a bathroom large enough to accommodate the whole family at once for getting ready, Not to mention a skylight as well. Depending on which cottage you choose, there’s usually either one or two TVs with cable and WiFi,and you can plug in your fire TV or Roku easily. The cable box says it has Netflix but I have not used it. Easy access to the entire peninsula from this Resort. I have come back 5 years running and it just gets better every time.
Perfect little one bedroom getaway for the week in the Beach Cottage. Theres a fireplace (works like a charm - it was cool and damp my last night there so I turned it on for about 10 mins). Theres a grill on your patio and a little table - all situated about 8 ft from the overlook to Sturgeon Bay (the water) below.Wonderful to just sit there (morning, noon, and night) watching the people and the animals go by. A pelican stopped by on the water one day and a group of geese took up residence Wednesday through Friday. You are right next to the pool (good/bad - easy access for you/people really enjoy the pool and can get a little loud) and you have a very short path down from your vehicle to the front of the cottage.Office is just a phone call away if you need anything.Nice size fridge and stove. Well stocked cupboards -- plates, glasses, utensils, and a few plastic storage items.
We have stayed here twice in two different cabins and they were both great. It is so nice to have a full kitchen and they are always stocked really well. The staff is so friendly and responsive whenever you have an issue. The views are amazing and we love spending time at the pool which is well kept.
Beautiful property. Very relaxing. Definitely plan on coming back again!
My mom works here in housekeeping, she does an excellent job cleaning.......
Really an underrated place. Very nice staff calm atmosphere really just beautiful grounds that are obviously well cared for. Would highly recommend.
Really cute place, quaint, and unique! Great and accomodating service. The resort has several different accomodation options that would be great for small to large groups. Located right on the water, the Cliff Dwellers Resort has boats that guests can use, in addition to other amenities such as bikes, books, and games that can be borrowed. The desk staff member gave us a tour and gave us suggestlions of nearby attractions even though we checked in late at night. Overall, great experience! We hope to come back and stay again!
Well worth it! Extremely clean and cozy! Looking forward to coming back again.
My husband and I enjoyed our July 2018 vacation to Cliff Dwellers. We were greeted by Layla, the manager. She filled us in on the resort as well as details about the area. The resort was very clean and quiet. The lake was easily viewed from the balconies. The kitchen had plenty of cookware to make dinner. We took advantage of the free bikes and rode down the road to the state park on two separate times. The resort is a short distance to town and restaurants. I would recommend Cliff Dwellers Resort.
My friends & I spent a few days here in a 2 bedroom townhouse. It was clean & appeared well taken care of. The woman who appeared to be the manager was very nice & quickly responded when we encountered a problem during the middle of the night. It was a good stepping off point to the other towns in Door County. We all agreed wed stay here again.
Nice rooms, big, clean, excellent view of the water. Quiet area, there is a road close but not much traffic. No indoor pool and hot tub was not available.
Best vacation ever! We stayed in early June in one of the townhome units. It was perfect for our family. Plenty of trails to explore, kids loved the pool, and my husband enjoyed the complimentary kayak. It was wonderful to sit on either of our balconies looking out on Sturgeon Bay. It was a perfect location for a Door County vacation. We find our yearly family vacation spot
Clean and nice way to much bleach used on the sheets, the road right in front of this place is to be 25 mph but people from down the road drive like nuts, so be careful when crossing.
Cliff Dwellers was a great place to stay. We spent our first honeymoon in the Aspen Cabin. The full kitchen was awesome even though we didnt use it as much as we could have. King size bed was super comfortable and the little living room area was perfect. You could see the sunrise over the water from our living room! The only complaint we had was the hot water smelled of sulfur, not sure if this is typical of the area or if the hot water had not been used in awhile. We would definitely book again!
We stayed in the Harbors Edge unit, a converted boat house. Small but perfect for a couple. Very private. Water is about 10 feet from your door. Unit had all the expected amenities. Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
We stayed in the lower unit of Harbors Edge Cottage for our mini honeymoon and it was amazing! The woman working at the front desk was very friendly and thorough explaining everything about the cottage to us. It is an absolutely beautiful place! It was hard to leave and we cant wait to go back!
Pretty view of Lake Michigan but for a teen like me internet is key and the internet here is abmismal. I love the town of Sturgeon Bay which is what this is just a few miles from. The pool and spa here are top notch and we used it many times during our visit.
This was the perfect vacation getaway. Our condo had two balconies facing the water and a beautiful view of trees and moss covered stone on the other side. Looks like all the condos have the same great views. We had a huge living room and fully equipped kitchen as well as two bathrooms. Everything was very clean. Loved the pool, spa, free bikes, free boats, tons of board games, proximity to the bay and state park, and the ping pong table :). Excellent value for the price. Layla in reception was awesome. We will definitely return.
My wife and I have never been to Door county before. We were looking for someplace to stay for 3days and we found, to our delight, Cliff Dwellers Resort. the history of this place is very interesting. Read the history on their Website. We stayed in the Lower unit of Harbors Edge.Did you know that the sky gets really bright at 5am the first week of June? Wow!Anyway, the weather was beautiful and sunny for the whole stay. When we look out of the large glass storm door early in the morning, we see millions of sparkly diamonds of light reflecting off the Bay ripples. Our front door is just 6 feet from the water.Cant wait to get back!
We absolutely LOVED our stay at Cliff Dwellers! The staff was friendly and welcoming. They had bikes, kayaks, canoes, etc. that you could take out for the day that were included in your stay. The list goes on! We stayed in the Pine Cottage, and it was everything we could have asked for. Wonderful view, relaxing, definitely a cozy home away from home. Were making this a regular getaway spot, and cant wait to go back!
Lovely weekend getaway! We loved our stay in the beach cottage. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cozy cottage right on the water. Great amenities.
Upon arrival at Cliff Dwellers someone that worked there greeted us and she walked us around and gave us the ins and outs of the property. The suite that we had was AWSOME!!! It was just as it was shone on the Internet. It was worth every penny and more. Great views, kitchen, living room and an EXCELLENT view of the bay!
We could not have been more happy with our stay at Basswood. The check in was easy and the people were so friendly and informative. The accommodations were great even better than it looked online. The ability to use kayaks, canoes, paddleboat and bikes was a nice touch just wish we had been able to stay longer to fully enjoy that perk! Will definitely stay here again!
Clean and very friendly service. Stayed there 3 times, will be back.
Great place, very clean nice location great view
Great spot overlooking the water! Highly recommended spot to stay in Sturgeon Bay.
We had a delightful time at Cliff Dwellers Resort. They provide bikes, canoes, a pool and a lovely kept grounds. Close enough but far enough from the sometimes congested Door County....will come again!
To start off we stayed in the Harbor View - Upper unit for our Honeymoon Getaway! To say the least I have stayed in many hotels over the years including some upper class luxury hotels in the City of Chicago and this had them beat by far in cleanliness and attentiveness of staff. This resort is unlike any other and if you are looking for a quiet peaceful getaway with one of the greatest views in all of door county look no further than Cliff Dwellers Resort!
Terrific place! So many amenities and a very nice cottage. We will come again!
The accommodations are very nice, with a great view of the bay. A great state park is within walking distance and the pool is heated. My only complaint is that the road is fairly busy and the noise disrupts the quiet of being on the water
Wonderful place and staff! So easy to walk across street to pool and bay.
Great location. Super quiet neighborhood and close to the Forest. The view of the river is fantastic.
What a wonderful surprise! Such a gem that we found. Absolutely love it here! We will be back!
May family stayed at Cliff Dwellers Resort last summer and we all agree it is a wonderful place to stay. The views are beautiful, rooms are nice and clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend these accommodations to anyone.
I suggest booking to Basswood. The bedroom I slept in has a memory foam mattress, and (since Im only 9, I live with my parents) the bed my parents slept in was either a queen or king size bed. Its really nice there!
Our family stayed here over the new year holiday 2011-2012 and it was simply perfect. Ive known about Cliff Dwellers for more than 20 years, but never took the opportunity to stay until now. The Townhouse building is definitely unique, but love how it is built into the natural rock outcropping. It has a wooded setting to the west and a lake view to the east and you can see the shipyard across the way. The interior decor is simple and straightforward and contemporary (no red oak and harvest gold wall colors). Tile at bathrooms and foyer, newer modern cabinets, formica tops, wood floor at main area and carpet upstairs in the bedrooms. This is a great place to set up shop for a week, buy some groceries and hang out on a budget. Beds were comfortable and the linens were clean and fresh, the housekeeping was responsive and prompt. Parking is exposed under the building, it was a little hard backing out onto the road as traffic seems to be a little too swift driving past the establishment. The only and one TV in the unit was a little small and outdated, but there is more to do than sit around and watch a movie here. But other than that, you cant find a more charming place to stay. Would easily recommend Cliff Dwellers over the newer resort style operations in downtown Sturgeon Bay, EASILY!
Ladies week this past July...75 y.o mom, sis and 17 y.o daughter. We rented a two bedroom condo. Very clean, great view of lake. Off the beaten path - which is what we wanted. Would stay again. Only negatives were the entry to the pool is either a cement ramp or stairs and no elevator in condo unit. Was difficult for gram and a bit dangerous for anyone on the ramp. You also have to cross a road to get to the pool, which has some people coming from the bar at the dead end of the road. So, be sure to stay alert when crossing the road!
We just stayed here over the MEA break. Not only was the area less busy but the fall colors were PERFECT! The resort was SOOOO clean. My wife loved that and it was secluded and quiet. A good base to do our exploring of Door County. All the recommendations of the staff were spot on for eating and for site seeing. One little thing, the mattress at one time was plush pillow top, probably needs to be replaced.. its a little soft in the middle.. but that was the only nit picky thing. Stay here.. you wont be disappointed.
Our family enjoyed the location, the helpful staff and the clean and comfortable cottages of the Cliff Dwellers Resort. We plan to make this an annual event. Thank You.
Cliff Dwellers was a fantastic stay. I visit atleast once a year. It has a beautiful view right over the lake. Its walking distance from Potawatomi State Park which is perfect if you like hiking, biking and checking out the views. They have a hot tub, pool, ping pong table, canoeing and bikes to use for free. Fantastic location for fishing. Close drive from down town where you can check out the farmers market and various shops or bars. My favorite cabin/condo to stay in is room 105! It has a comfortable and cozy environment. Everything you need for cooking is provided. 105 includes games, Netflix, DVDs and books. Feels like your home away from home!
What an amazing hidden gem! So clean and private! We will definitely be back!
This is a really beautiful place! Highly recommend!
Amazing location and ameties! Our townhouse rental was georgous and was the perfect get away! We will definitely come back!!
Beautiful view very clean
Amazing view and the cabins are very clean seam recently refurbished. Very impressed, cant wait to come back.
We stayed in Aspen. Its a very comfortable cottage with a great view, very suitable for our honeymoon! Already planning our next visit.

Very nice, clean townhouses!!!
Beautiful view of the water, clean, cozy, and comfy!
Very rude service, told by one guy they had a room and given a price told me it was mine so I drove down there to only be told they had a room but dont do same day reservations and the guy was a dick about it. So apparently they dont like money and why tell me they have a room I cant rent?
A must visit for a Nevis Sunset!
