I have played there for years, but the new ownership is great. Course is in better condition than before but the staff changed everything. Course still has bad spots but at this price its a great deal.Again the staff are friendly and courteous. I love it for a fun round without the restrictions of a private course.Highly recommended but save me a tee time.
The price from Idealgenie.com makes this a decent course to play. The course could use some attention on the tee boxes and various spots in the fairways. The par 4’s are solid! With a little curb appeal’, this course really rise above the course ranks of a low level public course: the parking lot is a disaster, the golf carts are pretty janky and I can’t even imagine the lost revenue by not having a beverage cart out on a weekend. Come on Stillwater Oaks- be better than this!
Dont waste your time. I was looking to play a new course in the TC metro. Stillwater Oaks is quite possibly the worst course Ive played in years. The Tee boxes are brown and beat up. Many of the fairways are like concrete. Growing grass and watering is apparently not allowed at this course. Will never play again.
Overall its a beautiful setting, but the conditions of the greens makes me sad that is in the condition its in. The bunkers have been filled in with grass. It could be something great I hope it happens.
So much potential, but just not kept up as well as you would like. A backwoods course that offers numerous ways to play, but fairways desperately need to be rolled and just too many patches for my liking.
This is the worst golf course Ive ever been to... The layout isnt terrible, but the grass and ground is HORRIBLE. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are all half-dead, undulated garbage.
Ive been to this course many times and everytime is an adventure. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The course can be forgiving and unforgiving. The course is challenging in every way. Beautiful scenery at every turn and picture perfect to the eye. Thank you for all you do for your customers.
Good course, nice mix of length and and terrain and at a reasonable price
If you are in the area, go to loggers trail. Much better course In every way.
Great course, fair price and challenging greens! Pro shop and bar need an update.
I wish they would level the tee boxes. I have always enjoyed the course, the layout is fair but not easy.
They can do better....even with covid.
Fabulous Facility Excellent Staff And Service
Great shape, nicely groomed and friendly staff. Used my PGA card for 18 holes with a cart for 30$$$$
Stillwater Oaks is a refreshing round of golf. Unique hole designs and fun topography on the fairways. The greens roll true and it is challenging for all levels of golfers. Staff was very accommodating. Definitely playing it again . PLAYED again Aug 31st, so impressed with the course and the solitude felt like I was up north. No houses no people, so nice playing again tomorrow. Please keep the best gem under wraps! Ok tell everyone about it and come have a great experience!
Thoroughly enjoyed it! Very few people playing this Monday which is perfect for walking. No cart girl or water stations out on the course so make sure to stock up. Clubhouse would definitely get more business if the front & back 9 were switched around. Fairways were great! Greens were pretty slow & inconsistent. Still damp in some spots but for the most part, it was a great challenge today. Definitely coming back if it’s this peaceful!
Amazing Layout! Terry was an amazing person to talk. I would recommend this course to anyone. Its not a long course, but you better bring your A game.
Half the fairway is dead or mud and the tee boxes are crabgrass.
Very nice Golf Course here at Stillwater Oaks.Very reasonable to play and a very challenging course for any type of Golfer. It is Scenic and a very beautiful Golf Course. I had a great experience playing at Stillwater Oaks Golf Course.
We played this course today and were pleasantly surprised that it was in great condition considering that it was their opening day for the 2019 season. The old beat-up Golf Carts are gone and replaced with much newer ones. Jeff Keating (an ultimate professional) and his crew are doing an excellent job. I give them 10 Stars if Google will allow. I look forward to playing this course a lot more.
Amazing golf course and an even more incredible Staff! Great group of young men that make the experience even better. Great golf pro!
I played Stillwater Oaks today... they earn 5 stars in several categories...NO houses!, rolling terrain, peaceful, employees are very attentive, the par 3s have a great look to them!, we saw a lot of nature - deer, turkeys, turtles, ducks... very relaxing golf.
Well maintained course with a good mix of holes. Have to be accurate of the tee to score well. Greens rolled true all day.
Excellent course Very secluded and quiet. A little spendy though
Course is looking great. Havent played here since the new ownership took over but their doing a great job. The clubhouse could stand a little updating but its still very functional. You cant beat the price right now for this quality of course, its great! Staff was very attentive and professional. Look forward to playing here again.
Very good course that will challenge all level of golfers. Good variety of par 3s.
Very pleasant experience.
Played there this weekend. Loved it. Perfectly groomed.
Course is in GREAT SHAPE. A unique and Challenging course be accurate or rlse
Very Very good Excellent.
Closed for the season.
Place has a bunch of potential, but was very undermaintained when we went. Couple of the fringes were long enough to lose your ball right next to the fairway (I know, get better at striking your ball). :) honestly the area is awesome, saw some deer running around.
Had a great round. Ill be returning. I enjoyed the variety of hole layouts.
One of the best deals for golf. Course is in great shape all year. Was easy when it was sawmill and is even easier now which is a downside for anyone better than a 18 handicap.
The only reason I show up to play at this course is because of the head manager, Brian. Its a nice course, dont get me wrong, but showing up and joking around with him before the round is always enjoyable. He goes out of his way to make sure his customers are taken care of and that goes a long way these days. I play here with a bunch of guys on a regular basis and they agree that Brian makes it enjoyable from the time we check in to when we turn our carts in! Thank you, Brian!!
Fun course, good up-keep, friendly people
Very good value for the price. $18 to walk a round at twilight rates. Have to knock off a star because there are no water coolers or golf ball scrubbers on the course. Conditions were fine the day that we played. Pace of play can be a little pokey with three par threes on the front nine.
Just went for an interview to work in their pro-shop. Brian Walker, the operations manager is a very friendly individual. It is very easy to see that he excels in taking good care of his customers and staff. He takes great pride in his appearance, and work. Looking forward to working there, with the hopes that they install the golf simulator in their clubhouse and offer a year round top of the line golfing experience.
Course was decently maintained while offering a good challenge and an entertaining environment. However, the people that were working there refused to provide any accommodations for our large group since we were the only ones who were expected that day. Staff was very rude and glued to the tv, enough to give us any more attention than was required to collect our money. Much better golf courses with more friendly staff available in the area.
I dont often write reviews, but I felt I needed to after how much Ive enjoyed Stillwater Oaks this summer. Ive played a lot of great golf courses across Minnesota, and what sets this course apart from others is the head manager, Brian.Hes made the experience one of a kind by always treating myself and my guests with the upmost respect, hes gone out of his way to help me and others Ive observed, and hes got a great attitude which keeps me coming back!Ive played nearly 60 rounds of golf this summer and a majority of those are at Stillwater Oaks and mainly because of the experience with Brian! Thanks Brian for all you do!
The more I play this course, the more I like it. Learning how to play the course, like where to put your approach on a green so the ball funnels to the hole, makes it all more enjoyable. Hole number 5 is still one of the prettiest par 3s in the Twin Cities, and number 7 is one of the most difficult par 5s!
Good layout. Course is always in playable shape, never in excellent shape. If you can get it for the right price (Golf Now - Groupon) its worth playing.
Beautiful course, well maintained professional staff and decent prices. Well done Stillwater Oaks.
This lovely course is not long, but requires accuracy. Most greens are relatively small. Most times I have played this year they roll a little slow. The course is surrounded by woods -- not houses! -- and is great fun to play. If you are not in the habit of hitting a straight ball -- bring a few extra....It is definitely walkable, although a few holes have a long green to tee hike. The cart paths are not in the greatest shape, nor are the sand traps... although it appears that the traps are being redone for 2017. Good rates and nice people -- worth the money.
Great scenery. Fun course.
Challenging course, a bit ragged, greens have lots of unfixed divets. Carts could use some maintenance too. But, fun to play and reasonable value for the price. Not too busy.
We Love Stillwater Oaks, BUT there are some problems. More staff is needed desperately. Tony is amazing, but he cant do it all. While he is checking guests, there should be a bartender. There should be someone to clean the carts, they are filthy! There is NO cart girl. We would buy several drinks. Tony is single handly keeping the place running smoothly! I remember better days under old management. SAD :(
Ive never really written a bad review before, but wow were we treated poorly yesterday. We booked a tee time on Thursday for a Saturday afternoon round, but upon arriving we find that it was incorrectly made for Sunday. These things happen, I get it, but the way it was handled was so terrible that we called today to share our concerns with management. Instead of getting an apology, we were told, If you guys never come back, it wont ruin my Christmas.Seriously, who says that?!Since Im here, other complaints were that the clubhouse was barely operational, the bathroom was gross, their AC wasnt turned on, and they had no more carts left. Sounds like theyre out of money. Wish we could get the old Sawmill back, those guys were great.
Fun, affordable course and conditions have really improved this year. Played it July 28, 2016 and tees, fairways and greens were in great shape. Putts rolled true. Bring group golf outings here and golfers really like the course.
A tough course, but beautiful
Course is in pretty good shape. The layout is really nice, spread out through the woods. Not that long of a course but still challenging.
Good option if you can find a good groupon
Greens and fairways were in good shape. Tee boxes were a little rough. Overall was fun to play.
Very nice course. Great value.
Super fun course. Definitely a place you can go low at if youre hitting the fairways. Great value!
Pretty good track. Was in fairly good shape, but then again it is very early season.
I have been playing this track for 30 years. I still love it. It is a fun layout, and is in great condition.
This is great family course with an up-north feel to it. The staff is attentive and friendly. The clubhouse is very welcoming and is a great place to relax and enjoy pizza, burgers, hotdogs, brauts and refreshments after a round of golf. Its a great value for the price charged.
This is a first..... I have been playing Stillwater Oaks and under its previous name (Sawmill) for 10+ years. Great course, great layout, and in the past, well run.Its 7:30am on a Saturday morning, there are a few dozen cars in the lot, the first tee time was at 6:45, its 30 minutes past my tee time, and the clubhouse is still dark and locked up. Nobody is around. A greens keeper swung, but didnt say anything more than nobody here?, a woman answered the clubhouse phone, but said she was offsite and couldnt help.Every business has its off days, but in an industry with a shirt season, this is unacceptable. Not only can I not play at my tee time, its Saturday morning at 7:30.... fat chance I can find another tee time anywhere else.Pretty poor performance by Stillwater Oaks.... I hope this is an isolated incident....
First of all, the course was busy, so busy that they didnt have any powered golf carts available on arrival. Their distribution was also not well managed, people that arrived after us were given carts before us. We had walked over to the driving range while waiting for them to get us a cart, and no one notified us when a cart was ready. After finishing up at the range and waiting around a bit thinking someone would save a cart for us when one came in we finally just waited at the desk for a couple keys to come in and snatch them up.The course itself was nice, I didnt notice any bad spots of grass, would have loved to play the whole thing. However, we didnt get to finish our round because we got rained out. Only got to play 5 of our 18 holes.Be warned that if you use a Groupon to go to this course and get rained out they will NOT give you a rain check. I didnt see that policy anywhere on the Groupon when buying. But that is what we were told when we asked, after getting rained out after just completing five holes of our eighteen hole round.
Pretty decent course overall. Had a good time playing it.
Course is usually in good shape. Couple goofy holes but all in all good. Can be slow play at times as they will allow 5 sums.
They dont respect your tee times guy showed up 20 mins after our tee time and was rude to us. Didnt offer anything for being late or say sorry just a rude kid.
Really enjoyed the rolling hills and the woods along the fairway. Each hole was different and was challenging
By far and away one of the best golf courses.
Played the course last night best shape I have seen the course in. Been playing here for 15 years now and will continue to be coming back.
The fairways were in great shape and the course is super fun as a whole! Great staff and a pleasure to play
Very nice people, excellent management!!! Beautiful course!!!
The golf course is challenging and has some unique holes. The clubhouse doesnt offer much food.
My favorite public course in the cities. Great scenery, great value. Highly recommend
Great golf course with affordable prices. Staff is very friendly and helpful and all around a great experience!
Friendly staff, excellent design. Definitely will come back again!
Course is in nice shape. A great day of golf.
A nice bargain course to play but the condition of the course is not the greatest. Tee boxes and greens are quite sandy but still a good course for the rates
Great course, very well maintained!
Course is tired and years of neglect really shows, cart paths are filled with pot holes, railroad ties for landscaping are rotted and falling apart, sand traps are cement and unkept. Course is not well marked, I saw Hole 11 with an arrow spray painted on a tree. Hole marker signs are an old post with the hole number engraved on them and no yardage listed. I saw one ball washer and no water coolers. This course is a joke for a weekend rate of $49.00 with a cart. Dont waste your time or money.
We payed $49.00 for cart on Sunday AM. The course had zero water jugs on the course on 82 degeee day. The pro told me they are are hard to keep them sanitary??? Really??? Its problably my responsibility to bring more water, but the cart person started at around 11 am. They had one ball washer on hole 18, zero on the carts. The tee boxes are beat up and traps are like cement. This is not worth the $$$$..
Public course that is margin mainained
Beautiful course!
Great course very hilly very wet the day we played fun holes couple A little gimmicky over all I would play again on time
Good courses. Good value.
Nice course. In good shape.
The course is in excellent condition.
Uneven and patchy tee boxes. No water station on any hole. Needs some IPA beers
Great upgrade
Nice facility in great shape.
I like the layout of the course. But the service was poor. No food. The sprinkler maintenance occurred while we were playing even on the holes we were playing.
Challenging course and friendly service.
What a magnificent golf course!
Nice golf course
Nice!
