Nice place to walk in nature. Young kids have great play equipment to play on. Bathrooms and water fountains available along with a rentable pavilion.

Great park for kids with two playgrounds. Paved walking paths, about 1.5 mile loop. Pavilions for public use. Theres a soccer field (currently just green space per Covid).

Nice quaint little park. Not too many people there. Theres a good amount of space to walk, play, and relax. The bathrooms are also clean.

As of this writing, June 29, 2020, cant walk through the park because they are repaving the sidewalk; at least thats what it appeared like yesterday. But this is a lovely park to visit.

Good place for kids and it has restrooms nearby the kids playground. Has a woody trail which feels like a little getaway from busy schedules.

The re-done pavilion and near by play set was perfect for my son’s first birthday party. Only negative was the lurking man that made multiple attempts to get my mother’s purse and pick pocket my father. Don’t think we will be back to this park for another party.

There was some obvious flooding issues when I was here and there was an odor of sewage that wasnt overwhelming, but not pleasant either. The person who cut the lawn left tire tracks in the mud and I needed to watch my step to avoid grass puddles and mud. Did not stay for very long.

Has a nice little trail to get out and get a quick walk on your lunch break or take you pets out for a walk.

A really hidden gem right on the MIssissippi River with great walking paths and biking paths. Can even catch the river boat going down the river, way cool!

Nelson Park is one of Sterling Heights hidden gems. Great trails for walking or biking, decent pavilion area available for rent, a couple of recently renovated playscapes for the kids, well kept green spaces and plenty of room for everyone. Worth visiting!

Nice family park, dog friendly

This is one of the best fun and exciting play parks that my kids love coming to. They have made some improvements by adding a brand new state of the art play area for children. There are always lots of kids and families visiting here from different multicultural backgrounds. Its a great mixture and my kids love coming and are always begging me to take them here!

Soccer field is nice for my son. Had a play area for kids. Parking is pretty tight. Big lot, but spaces are close to each other.

Nelson Park is ok for family reunions and other social gatherings. Be advised that you will have to book a good 6 months in advance to reserve your date. This way, the pavillion area is accessible to your group. I am giving it 4 stars because I live near the park and feel the people who visit / use the park should take better responsibility for cleaning up their mess; and the City could do more to monitor. Additionally, there is a creek that runs on the east side of the entrance and community building, which is hidden behind the tree-line. It was soooo laden with trash that it disgusted me to see that the City wasnt even doing much to check on the status of the Parks overall cleanliness. There are deer and other animals that depend on this water source; and Id like to know where our millage / tax dollars are going to help preserve our small local community parks. Bottom line, I feel more monitoring and insuring the cleanliness of this park and its outlying area such as the creek on the property, needs to take place. Otherwise, there is plenty fun for the kiddos.

Great trail goes thru the woods. Weve seen deer, ducks, all kinds of great stuff walking around there. Good for biking or rollerblading or just walking. There a bunch of old men who smoke cigs and play chess when the weather is nice. There are also play areas for children
