Beautiful place to taste wine and socialize

The wines here are made from grapes grown in the field out back; not shipped-in from elsewhere in PA and NY state. The results are beautiful, jammy, flavorful wines with a great balance and with consistency within vintages. I favor Chancellor, Noiret, Chambourcin for reds and the Autumn Wood for white - - so much so that I buy them by the case and take them back to Colorado with me. Not expensive and better than many (if not most) California wines, in my opinion.

Went to see a Friday night concert. Small place and usually busy on Friday evenings. Great atmosphere. Good folks. Im not a big fan of wine, and had their hard cider. Quite good. Bring some friends, some snacks, grab some wine or cider and enjoy the music. Nice way to spend the first part of your Friday evening.

My husband and I just ordered a case of our favorite wine (Appalachia Red) from here and had it delivered to us in Georgia! We opened a bottle right away and it was as delicious as we remembered! Its a must try if you visit.

Nice winery with an extensive selection of wines, ranging from whites, to reds, dry, sweet and more. Very polite and very good explanations and wine education. If youre in the neighborhood, definitely visit them.

Both ladies that were working today were very rude. Not the happy or fun experience like most wineries are. We will not return and they lost sales today because of their horrible customer service.

Always nice to visit with friends. Excellent wines. We brought supper items to share with each other as we listened to the live music inside. Finished up with just chat around large outside table on patio in the lovely summer evening.

Nice little winery hidden behind a housing development and a culdesac. Great selection of wine and the staff was friendly and helpful. Wasnt sure if we found the right place because there wasnt much signage.

This hidden gem may require a GPS to find it, but it is worth the effort. Nestled behind a housing development, you can temporarily forget that you are in a college town and sip on a variety of wines. Depending on the weather, I recommend the outdoor seating area and taking in views of the vineyard.

A group of us traveled from NJ to see the Penn State/Rutgers game on Saturday. We arrived on Friday afternoon and decided to check out this winery right down the street from where we were staying. I sure glad we did. We ended up staying for hours. They even had a band start playing just before we had to leave. They have a nice selections of wines to to choose from. You get a tasting of up to 5 for free and you can purchase additional tastings for $1. They serve full glasses for $5 and have about 8 premium wines for $8 a glass. We also bought an assortment of cheeses, crackers and salami (all made locally) to enjoy with our wine. Before we left we purchased about 12 bottles to take home. Barb, who took care of us was wonderful. She explained which wines were produced from their local grapes (90 percent) and described each wine and what it was similar to that we might have had elsewhere. What a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. Had we not had other plans we would have stayed to closing. Looking forward to our next trip out.

Visited this winery as part of the PA Tasting Trail and received a warm welcome. We enjoyed our tasting and the pleasant conversation with the owners. Im excited to go back in the summer and sit out on the back patio! Convenient to State College, but feels far away.

Awful. The older man (I assume the owner) was extrmely rude and very unprofessional. I have never been to a winery and had such a horrible experience! The rest of the staff seemed nice but he was absolutely awful.Just so you know my review was not about a discount (even tho EVERY OTHER winery gave me a discount that day)...it was about how he conducted himself with his eye rolling and what not. I have talked to several others that have been to you winery and they had similar complaints about your establishment.

I have visited happy valley winery a few times over a couple years and I always enjoyed tasting and chatting except for when I visited there my last time. A group of seven of us came in (with a few people from the group being their first time for wine tasting). We did not receive a warm welcome, we were ushered along and when we finally got our chance to have our tastings we were rushed. We all purchased glasses and sat around and enjoyed each other’s company but the response we got to everything was “we need to keep you moving because we are going to get busy”. I would of loved to know more about the wine and maybe to have felt like you actually wanted us there, it was not only us this happened to it was to everyone coming through the door. This is why I have a three star review because my other times going were pleasant but this last one really left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). A word of advice people love to drink, gather with friends and feel wanted not to be corralled like cattle.

Absolutely love this place! A wonderful find with delicious wines. There are 5 free tastings and anything after that is $1. I found that after trying 5 wines, there were 2 I loved and wanted to buy (the Pinot Grigio at $12.50 and Appalachia Red at $15). The wines are refreshing and delicious - there were none I disliked. Theyre also affordable and local - two extra bonuses. I loved coming here with friends as an an adventure and I loved finding delicious, local wines.

First, it must be said that the wine offered during the tasting here is just flat awful. My wife and I didnt find a single glass we enjoyed among reds and whites, both dry and sweet. This winery makes heavy use of French-American hybrids such as Cayuga, which many people dont care for, so be forewarned. However, what vaults this winery into all-time-worst-status is the woman who did our tasting. While I hope she was merely a fill-in part-time employee, I fear she may actually be the owner. She clearly didnt care about what she was doing or showing the basics of hospitality. Most people who work at wineries are cheerful and clearly love their work. But here, each time she poured a wine, she mechanically read off the name of the wine and then quickly walked away. She refused to offer us the vintage, varietal, how the wine was made, etc. Absolutely zero educational value. When we asked the most simple followup questions such as Was this Chardonnay made in oak or stainless steel? and Which grapes were used in this rosé? she scowled, sighed, and offered the bare minimum of information. News flash: any pourer with one weeks experience should be be prepared to provide this and much more during each pour.By the end, we were laughing to ourselves about how bad she was. It was a blessing once we finished the last pour.

The wine is fabulous and the setting is wonderful. Its really a little adventure to get here, driving through a development and then the road opens up to this wonderful farmy feel. Biscuit Jam plays here a lot and they sound amazing both inside and outside. Check it out.
