Gorgeous public space! Perfect for all seasons. Clean safe and accessible. I oftentimes noticed families and friends who would come picnic here. Its also great for people watch...and just chillin out with a book. Highly recommend!

I love talking a walk in Stanford. So peaceful and beautiful. Pretty quiet on weekend mornings. And some coffee shops are open now!

One of the most beautiful places on campus to sit and do some thinking

Its fascinating environment. When you come to South Bay, you should definitely check it out. There is no parking problem and you can enjoy the fresh air with that Stanford view.

Wide open spaces! Came for graduation, houses a large crowd. Would seem huge once you get a chance to walk around when its quiet on campus

So clean, quite park & not too many people which make it perfect for families & kids. Can see some historical things there too like the watch.

It was a great experience to enjoy the bright Sun, blue sky and clear air at the Stanford Oval. It was my first visit to Stanford University. While on the way to the university, I shared Lyft with a lady doctor from Brazil who is doing research on sleep apnea at Stanford University. Oval and Hoover Tower are first two things came to her mind as the must see places of Standard University.

Its a big green lawn. Sometimes they put on special events. Its a convenient place to meet up. Sometimes you can find a frisbee game.

Great place to hang out with family and kids on the weekend. Lots of room to run. Great buildings to tour, including the tower, which costs of a couple of dollars, and also the church and surrounding buildings, which are free. Beautiful architecture!

The oval is one of a few crown jewels of visiting Stanford. Its a beautiful setting that brings out a sense of joy and wonder, both from the campus but also from visitors. The real enjoyment of the space seems to come from weekend visitors. Excellent scenery and people watching, too.

A great and beautiful place

We love this place. We are not students, but sometimes hang out on the campus with our little one and dogs on the weekend. It’s a great place for a walk or a picnic or people watching. The campus is absolutely beautiful and clean and frequented by a lot of the surrounding community.

This is a lovely place to hang out. Lots of named brands for shopping . Some good restaurents and plenty of parking makes this place great.

Gorgeous. Bit windy today, but sunny and warm. Only thing is lots of ppl. Alot of tourist. But free parking today which is nice. Saw lots of groups taking photos, some wedding groups. Beautiful site for pics for sure if not as many people

Very good place to relax. We watched a frisbee match sitting there for more than half an hour. :P

Great plac e to read and relax.Originally a sunken water hole, the Oval was planted as a lawn in Stanford University’s early years, and sheep were used to keep weeds under control until the early 1930s. The raised flowerbeds at the Oval were added in the 1980s as a gift from a donor. Every spring, the Grounds Services crew plants the flowers, which are in peak bloom throughout the summer. Left: A 30-foot-tall statue of “Faith” stood at the Oval in Stanford’s early years. Right: The grounds team planted a commemorative design at the Oval to honor Stanford’s 125th anniversary in 2016.

Pretty park-like setting. Permit parking only around the oval, but visitor parking is nearby. Oval parking is free after 6pm.
