Inspiring place to visit. The cemetery in and of itself is very beautiful but also are and its easy to take a wrong turn. Lots of bending roads. Very solemn and overwhelming experience. Great side trip if you are ever in the area. You can see everything in under and hour if you wanted and then be back on your way. I encourage you to take your time and enjoy the experience. Read the plaques and take the time to learn about this man. Lincoln wasnt perfect but he did do a lot of good for a lot of people. He is one of Americas great treasures.

Its another place you must visit when you go to springfield. Its monument of one of the greatest and famous presidents of US. It is situated in oak ridge cemetery. I was amazed of how it was designed and build. Highly recommend it.

My first experience was very bad. It was the summer of 2013. My family and I were traveling through Springfield and stopped here at the Lincoln Tomb at 4:30 PM and we walked over to the tomb to go inside the door was locked, so we waited for someone to come out. When that happened the man at the door got in my little face and angrily said NO I CANT LET YOU IN! I was upset and angry and cried for three days following this incident. The place closes at 5 pm but no where on their website or even at the site itself does it say that you cannot go in the tomb after a certain time. So if I show up at 4:58 PM I can expect to walk right in. It took my family and I three more years before we got to go back up to Springfield. We ended up there in the summer of 2016 and this time I felt like I had to sneak my way in before I would get yelled at again and we even showed up this time a whole lot earlier in the day. The summer of 2019 came and I took my brother to Springfield and I wanted to go to the tomb but was scared that if I went to late in the day I would get yelled at again so we did not go. To this day I am scared to go back to the tomb but I would like to return. Lincoln was my very favorite President I have studied him and his Presidency all of my life and this is how I am treated on my very first visit I may not return unless I have some kind of escort with me in order to get in, I am that scared.Other than that the site itself is wonderful when I finally did get to go in.
