If you are in the area. You definitely want to check out Lincolns presidential museum and library. It is a must! It was very entertaining and the shows were like something from Disney world. Staff however, need diversity trainings should offer things in spanish for others to understand as well as for shows since a lot of people come from out of town.

The museum was awesome. There are 2 theater shows, that are about 10 and 20 minutes. Both are fantastic and very informative. The rest is a self guided tour with staff available if you have questions. There are 3 places to walk through. Abe Lincolns house, The White House, and a small artifact section. It was an awesome place, we easily spent over an hour wondering around and looking at everything.

Absolutely outstanding presidential library. I have been to about eight of them, and always enjoy seeing new ones. This was a real treat, and they were very honest with their depiction of his work and life. The movie they show was fascinating and very informative. The displays were professionally done, and the staff was very friendly. LOVE this place! Makes you feel proud to be an American!

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPM) honors the most influential President of all-time. The built model of White House.... sure you can feel the real experience of White House. First time I have seen the 4D movie. It’s really amazing... 3D movies also good with really amazing... The museum tells an American story through Abes life. Each exhibit is carefully crafted to give the visitor a full sensory experience. In particular, the American Civil War, the Gettysburg address, the Emancipation Proclamation and the overwhelming pride in freedom and equality made possible for all. There is so much to see - a preservation of history.

A vital institution and must-visit site. The museum helps humanize an American legend, captures the complexity of the moment in which Lincoln rose to guide the country through its darkest moments, and illustrates how President Lincoln was both a moral leader and savvy politician. The curators have arranged the exhibits in a very thoughtful manner. Lots of information to digest and food for thought from the visit.

First of all, technically the Presidential Library and Museum are two separate buildings. The Library is free and open to the public. It is across the street from the museum. The average public is allowed only on the first floor. Those researchers wanting to study A. Lincoln can gain access to the upper floors. For those who are not doing historical research, but would like to look at some of A. Lincoln archives, there is a room the security guard will provide access upon request. Bags, etc must be locked up in lockers prior to entering. The first floor ‘open’ area has the ranking of the Presidents by historians. (Don’t wander around looking for #44, Grover Cleveland was President for two separate terms.). There were also a few interesting statues and paintings as well.Security personnel were extremely pleasant and willing to share anything they could to make your stay worthwhile.

Good and bad. Love the historical value, totally affordable at $15 for adult admission, and jam packed full of information; however, I went in with a head scarf to use as a mask, because the wuhan virus rules, and was refused entry (didnt fit criteria). I guess I should have worn it like a hijab. I did have a different mask. they did offer me a useless paper mask (no better than my scarf).

What a fantastic place. It is not what you think...and kids, even young kids will not be board. It is well laid out and very easy to navigate yourself. If you like details, there is plenty to read and learn as you go through, but it is not necessary (hard to do with kids) and you still get the WOW factor. You can easily spend a couple hours, and if you get the chance go see their hologram show, super impressive and you you will be scratching your head thinking how did they do that, it looked so real. If you like my review give it a thumbs up so others will see it too.

This is such a fantastic place to visit- for families, history buffs, or anyone looking for a good time. The exhibits are interactive and eye catching. Replicas of rooms and scenes are so similar to the places they represent! The wax figures are so well crafted. They capture an amazing likeness!! The ghosts of the past show is AMAZING! Everything is included in one price. Student, veterans and senior discounts are available. Bathrooms are clean and accessible for handicapped and baby care. There is a restaurant inside, but I did not go there. Staff are very friendly also. A total win for our family!

I was so pleased with my visit here!! Wow. What a hidden gem. What a delightful surprise. Staff was super friendly and this small gallery is a thoughtful thorough experience in understanding Lincolns history. I was sad the Lincoln house was close due to government shutdown so was not sure what to expect when I came here. Staff immediately welcomed us and informed what show and gallery was available during our visit there. Totally check out the history shows they prepare. Still amazed at the acting work they did during the ghost show (youll know what I mean when you get there!). Glad we had a solid 90 mins before the museum closed. Thank you to all at the museum who help us better remember and appreciate the work Lincoln has done.

This is our 6th visit here over the years. We bring everyone here and have the yearly Museum membership. It’s definitely a place to see at least once in your life. My wife and daughter visited the museum on July 7, 2018; while I and my daughter had been there before, this was my wifes first experience. It was important for her to see the museum because she is a descendant of the Rutledge family that started New Salem. I personally grew up in a location where the Berry family organized the Rock Creek Church in Menard County, three miles south of New Salem; it was Rev. Berry that loaned Lincoln the money to start the Lincoln Berry Store. We all thought the museum was an excellent way to learn more about Springfields most famous resident. Great exhibits, interesting artifacts, and wonderful media presentations gave all of us a rich exposure to the life of our 16th President..

This of course is on my list of things to do in Springfield. We watched the ghosts of the library(or something like that) then we went and watched another movie where the seats would vibrate like crazy when an explosion or something loud happened in the movie. Every area makes you feel like youre actually there and the statues look so real. There are a some areas I wanna mention like the part of the funeral and how real the atmosphere feels in that part. Also another is where they have a kitchen and when you walk through you can here voices almost like being actually there. 1 last thing I wanna mention is all the historical items they have on display throughout the building. I didnt mention all because you have to see it all for yourself so check it out. Any questions just ask!

What an excellent way to step through the looking glass and see the life of Abraham Lincoln laid out before you. I learned many new facts about his life and our children really enjoyed the exhibits as well. I really liked the way the museum is divided up into the major chapters of his life. There was an awesome a cappella group singing period songs in the plaza which was a neat way to start off the visit. It took us just about 2.5 hours to make it through the museum and that was just skimming everything that was on display. 10/10!!!! Like Disney World and your favorite history teacher teamed up to bring you an unforgettable, educational, and immersive experience; centered around our greatest President. Take a self guided tour through Lincoln’s childhood, early political life, and of course; his Presidency. View artifacts such as Mr. Lincoln’s own stove-pipe hat, the Gettysburg address, Tad’s toy canon, the original key to the Lincoln’s home, and so much more. Interactive exhibits allow you to ask Lincoln questions and hear answers based on his writings, as well as view hundreds of Civil War photographs, all at your fingertips. There is an amazing show explaining exactly what a Presidential Library does, and why it’s important, and it does it in a way that even a young student would understand. All with some REALLY remarkable special effects! There is another show too, (both are well under 20 min by the way) it is in a gorgeous theater and it is AWESOME!!! A brief biography of Lincoln with all sorts of effects to bring you into the story, and keep your easily distracted child’s attention.Bottom line; you need to visit the Abe Lincoln Presidential Museum. It is literally impossible to leave, without feeling touched and inspired. I’d budget about 2-3 hours average, more if you read everything, less if you are more the type the skim and breeze through.
