Wonderful experience at TGR wildlife park. I paid for the Sloth experience. I’m obsessed with sloths. They are literally my world. I’m so happy they offer this experience as I would never be able to come close to a in person contact of a sloth on my own. Our guide was very personable and knowledgeable about all of the animals they house there. I got to go inside of the sloth enclosure, to feed and pet them. While learning much about their species. I am happy to pay the price for the experience. Because it goes to a good cause for the wildlife at the park. The animals there look very well taken care of. I was happy to see our guide take pride in his work. If you are thinking about doing this experience, take the plunge you won’t regret it.
If youre tired of going to the zoo where 80% of the animals are sleeping, this is the place for you! The excellent tour guide often interacts with the animals and gives them treats, so they are extremely active when the tour group comes around, making for a far more fun experience. Just an amazing collection. Hurry if you want to catch the adorable baby porcupines before they grow up! IMPORTANT NOTE: you cant just show up - you have to have reservations through the website.
Wonderful one of a kind experience! Our tour guide, Gwen, was very knowledgeable and sweet. Cant wait to come back!
Our family had an amazing adventure on this tour. Getting up close, petting some of the animals, and hearing about each animal, where they come from, and their unique personalities made each animal memorable, especially to the young ones in our group. We did the basic tour and were very satisfied. Thank you to Gwen for a special family time. We truly enjoyed our visit.Avolevan/Hale/Veale Families
This place is so awesome! They have a great selection of animals that you can touch and interact with. The staff and crew are very knowledgeable and nice. Stop by and take a tour!
Overall, my girlfriend and I had a great time, the guide we had was very informative and answered all of the groups questions. If you have kids, this would be a great trip for them. The tour was about 1.5 hours.
This place is great. The staff is very knowledgeable (and friendly). They definitely put the welfare of the animals first. We enjoyed the variety of wildlife (make sure to go for the sloth encounter - definitely worth it!)Thanks for a great visit!
We had a fantastic experience with the reptiles. The handlers were professional and the kids learned a ton! My 2 and 4 year olds are still talking about it. Highly recommend!
Great experience! Courtney was awesome and extremely knowledgeable! We had a great encounter with the Sloths!
My granddaughter spent her birthday with a sloth. Great experience and the information was on point. We look forward to going back.
Absolutely wonderful place. They take diligent care of their animals. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about not only the animals they have but also animals they are related to. The staff was very sweet and accommodating. Highly recommend supporting them!
An awesome trip for the family many animals to see and experience. Guides are extremely knowledgeable and love to talk about the animals! Will definitely be returning and hopefully volunteering!
We had fun(ages 3-13 and mom) I wish there was a little more interaction with the animals. You do get to pet llamas, goats and pigs if they dont run away. The tour seemed a bit rush. It was 1.5 hours but I wish we had time to slow down and watch the animals more. The staff were nice and knowledgable. We were told they allow volunteers age 12 and up. I dont know what they are able to do but it could be fun to volunteer. It was 15$ a person.
This seems a bit cruel big animals in very small cages . Doesn’t even say how they got there idk after being quarantine for a small of time. I feel bad for them have to spend years like that. Wish it could be more like a sanctuary appropriate for the bigger animals
Forget the long drive to the Houston Zoo, fighting for parking and waiting in lines! The Houston Zoo may have more animals but TGR was fantastic in the sense you can get closer. You also have a tour guide that gives you facts on the different species. We just did the Basic Tour and had such a wonderful time we will definitely return for other tours.
This was an awesome place to go with my family on a Sunday afternoon. We did a tour with 19 other people, it was an hour and half. Next time, I want to do the full tour, we just wanted to check it out first. I would advise to bring a water bottle and hand sanitizer (they do have some posted around the place but we were petting every animal in sight!) The cleanliness of the place and the care for the animals was great to see. The owners are so sweet and very professional. I appreciate what they do for these animals and for having such a great place for family to spend their time there with such a great experience!
Our group visited for a birthday party. It was my first time there and it was amazing!! The gracious owner was very informative and you can see how much they care for the animals. The animals are so sweet and the monkeys put on quite a show for us! I would highly recommend and if you wish to donate please contact the owner and see what supplies she accepts.many thanks to a great experience.
Awesome place and awesome staff! Very knowledgeable about animals and will answer any questions you have. The animals were all very active and we had a blast watching them play.
Fun way to spend a Saturday with the family!
This is really awesome place, but some areas were dirty
Awesome place, cool animals and great people
We went their this morning for my daughters 19th birthday and we’d had a blast! They have so many amazing animals and most of them have tons of personality. Loved it!
Social distancing was not followed- and the tour guide was not friendly. Showed the same animals we see at our local zoo which is $7 a person for all day. This was $30 a person- and we didn’t even get to see all of the animals. I was frustrated and felt like $150 for our family of 5, where we felt uncomfortable the whole time, was not worth it.
This place was closed and apparently you have to reserve tickets the day before and you need to have a minimum of 12 or 14 people, I think. But either way you need to have a minimum to even get a tour. I thought I was kind of expensive for the size and what you can do there for a basic tour. Its even pricey for special tours per person! Sorry but I think Ill attempt to go back!
They have really interesting animals and the guide was great in giving us so much information about these animals. Me and my kids really enjoyed our visit.
Wonderful experience and super knowledgeable and friendly staff️
I had previously avoided this place thinking it wasn’t up to par and was a glorified roadside zoo. I stand completely corrected! The keepers are passionate, the facility is clean, and the early bird zoo tour I went on was so informational and fun! If I could’ve fit it in my travel plans I would’ve definitely returned for one of the more in depth specialty tours.
TGR Exotics is incredible!! I took my nieces for a tour and reptile encounter and they enjoyed themselves completely! Nick our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and super nice and Gwen is the sweetest! have recommended everyone I know to come here and my nieces and I will definitely be back!
I loved the small tours, our tour guide was awesome! It was a very up close tour and you got all your questions answered. I would definitely go again.
We called about 10 times and no answer. We came to see if they were open since their hours suggest they are and the gate was closed. No one is sight. Our son was excited to see the animals. Per reading other reviews seems like this is a constant problem. They should really fix their hours and let ppl know exactly when theyre open or closed. Such a waste of time.
Small zoo in Spring Texas I got to pet special llamas a tortoise two different sloths miniature anteater Brazilian porcupine special pigs two water buffaloes an African porcupine a sheep a special miniature deer and got to observe many others up close fantastic place the owner lady nice Nick the tour guide great $15 per adult hour-and-a-half tour I highly suggest it
Our sunset tour and sloth encounter led by Gwen were fantastic!
Great place for the family and kids. Troy the owner and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, they have a great passion for the animals and the visitors. They make you feel at home, will come back and recommend.
This place is amazing!! They take such good care of there animals. They are extremely knowledgeable about the animals they care for and you can see how much love they have for each other. I always loved the zoo but after visiting here, this will be my forever go to place. I have already recommended TGR to so many friends and family. It was an amazing experience I can’t stop taking about. We loved it
Kids enjoyed it and The animals were so friendly
Just drove 1.5 hours to arrive and the place is closed. Correct your hours online, people depend on your information being correct. HUGE waste of time and aggravation!
I purchased a sloth experience for my wife for our anniversary. The keeper was very knowledgeable and the sloths were active. Definitely worth the money.
This is unique experience. Its kind of a place like no other. You definitely need to experience this once or twice a year. You get up close with the animals and some of them you get to get very close with. They have wide variety of reptiles and mammals to look at. The guide seems to be quite knowledgeable. It really is fun. Who knew this place even existed? Well worth the price.
Very cool experience! The tour guide was knowledgeable about each individual animal & the animals were happy and well cared for. Exceeded my expectations on multiple levels!
What a great tour! We enjoyed every minute
I had an amazing experience at this place. Did a look inside tour and Caracal and serval interaction. The guides were great and I love the cats. The hyenas were awesome. Its a lilttle zoo but its very interactive. My only issue with this zoo was that its kind of pricy. But Im in favor of helping out this establishment and for what you get to do its worth it.
We really enjoyed our visit. Our guide was very knowledgeable and patient. She answered all of our questions.
Normally when you see exotic wildlife in Texas that just normally means you see a few tropical birds like a toucan or something just not from Texas. This place was a HUHE refreshing pace. Obviously this owner is passionate about animals and not just doing this for money. Our guide Devin made me feel like i was hanging out with Steve Irwin, minus the Austrian accent, unless you asked. Five stars does not do this establishment or its staff justice! Well worth the drive!
We was waiting outside for 30 mins called about 15 time no answer and we came from an hour away. Total disappointment. Was really lookimg forward to it. If yall not opened should have posted it on your page..
This is sort of a difficult review to leave. My 9 year old animal lover’s first impression was that the enclosures were too small and that the animals were pacing. On closer inspection, the animals seem well taken care of and have lots of toys, enrichment activities, etc in their enclosures. The loss of a star here is due to the impatience of the owner. A couple of people in our group were late, but she was rude to the group that was already there about that fact. Why express your exasperation with late people to the people who were there on time? She huffed and puffed at the beginning, setting our group on edge, making us feel unwelcome. However, once she started the tour, she was calm, friendlier and was very knowledgeable. The other staff giving lessons and tours were great and equally knowledgeable about the animals. Gwen seems to truly love her animals. The experience would be better if she remembered that showing them to groups of people pays for their care and being nice goes a long way to keep people returning. All in all, despite the rough start, this was a fun and educational outing for our homeschool group.
Paid for the sloth encounter and got a lifetime of memories. Danielle and Gwen are great as are the rest of the volunteers and staff. Awesome spot. READ THE WEBSITE AND WEAR MUD BOOTS!!!
You never know when this place is open. We came twice in a week and called multiple times, never got reply.
Weve only been to the Easter egg hunt but absolutely loved it. The animals were calm and easy to pet. The people who work there are helpful and polite. The only negative thing about our experience were three other kids.
Amazing experience!!
We had an amazing visit here. Our guide was great and my kids had the best time learning about all the animals. We cant wait to go back. Keep up the great work!
Must schedule your trip there and pay the night before. I appreciate this approach as it kept our group small and allowed us one on one time for questions with the zoo keeper. Loved it so much last year, we are trying to schedule time again while we are here. Not sure why people would give a negative review. Its not the Houston zoo. Its an exotic zoo/rescue. Its a more intimate experience then a regular zoo in my opinion. Definitely worth going.
There are many different types of animals and smart animals to
The place is great the owner really cares for the animals
Our school went for a field trip and it was amazing! The variety of creatures is great. The children loved it and learnt a lot! Gwen was so accommodating and very knowledgeable. The place is well maintained! Thank you ! We will be back next year for sure!!
Nothing exotic about this place. Animals looked miserable and malnourished and the staff wasn’t all that knowledgeable, well the one lady with the snakes was.
I really enjoyed the experience of learning about the exotic animals. Some I never even knew exist. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Great party venue!
Pumpkin carving and feeding the animals was awesome. Learned so much about the animals. Great day had by all.
Awesome cant wait to bring my family next time!
I went for the toddler tour. It was a nice and awesome experience. Ill probably do it again my kids a little older.
Late posting a review but I took my son over Spring break and their was some confusion on the price, the owner was very gracious working it out with me since it was simply an error on one of the employee’s part and mine by reading the schedule wrong. Loved the place and the tour, could tell the animals are well taken care of.
Cool animals nice facility
It was a really good experience
Fun, fun, fun!
My kids LOVE the kids night out. We will be going as much as possible!
Ok, not bad but not great. Kids had fun
Great variety of animals and a really pleasant experience. Our tour guide Devin was a great tour guide and knew alot about the animals, especially all of the big cats. Well be coming back for sure.
Sloths are awesome! Porcipine too!
Touring TGR Exotics is a great Saturday afternoon activity. Sign up online for a private behind the scene tour. Great experience!
If I could give them 0 damn stars I would! Came all the way from the other side of town and the damn thing was closed. You should really post your business hours so people dont waste their lovely gas. Thanks for getting us all excited and crushing us.
It wasnt open as advertised at 3pm on a Sunday.
Said their was only going to be 12 in a group indeeded up being almost 30. Not happy
The animals have fleas terribly. They cry all night making the most terrible sounds. I feel very sorry for these animals. The owners are rude and only have animals to make profits. Shame. God dont like ugly!
Had our twins birthday party here, wonderful place, well be back for sure!
This place has some awesome animals.
So much fun !!!! Have never been to a place like this so close to exotic animals ! We will be going back for sure !!
Clean and nice place.
Please dont listen to the bad reviews, my husband took me here for my birthday and we took the look inside tour and it was SO MUCH FUN it is a bit pricy but the only thing I could find close to a tour like this would be much much more expensive and honestly it is worth the price! They offer tons of different tours with a range of prices so its easy to find something that will suit the experience you are looking for with a fair price. There are some bad reviews which surprised me and made me nervous before I went but seeing peoples pictures made up my mind that we should go and I am so glad we did. The animals are so sweet and funny and you can tell they enjoy living there its completely unlike the sad zoo animals we are all used to seeing from afar. These animals come right up to the edge of their enclosure for some attention! There are plenty of opportunities for pictures and petting! The animals are all clean, happy, and well cared for. I saw a review regarding the fire ants, yes there are plenty but the guide was very attentive to where the ant mounds were and he would warn us and even stand by them so no one accidentally wandered into one. Wearing closed toe shoes with help also! I will be back for sure!
Very accommodating and friendly staff, very unique experience
Great family fun. A hidden gem
The owner take excellent care of his critters. A lot of variety and a great date or family experience.
Large variety of animals and stories/activities to match. It kept everyone busy and happy.
Super friendly and great with kids.
They tell you facts about the animals and you get to see so many animals. You can also pet some of the animals too.
What times is it open? The hours please?
Awesome
Great experience!!
Good petting zoo
Fun
Very nice
