We saw the production of Disneys Little Mermaid. Although there were quite a few younger actors, keep in mind that this theater is about productions for children in the audience. With that in mind, dont think this is a substandard production. With minimal sets, the actors of all ages, put on a show that easily captured the imagination of the audience of all ages.
A small, community based theater with interesting shows. It is a good way to get out of the house and be entertained for a few hours. My son likes it as well, and gets very involved with the stories told. I cannot recommend this place enough.
This is a great way to get experience in theatre when your a beginner! Doug Beschta is a great friend and person in general. I’m 10, almost 11 and planning to do this Theatre for years to come!
Was our first time here. They are just about to celebrate their 75th season in October 2019. I have heard about it before but never had been. Our son performed in the musical Mama Mia for the summer camp performance as Sam Carmichael Sophies dad. They did a fabulous job. The performers were all between 15 to 18 years old and some were first timers. Nailed their lines and hit almost every note. We hope to return for other shows coming up like The Adams Family and the Three Musketeers to name a couple that sparked our interest! Well done you guys and most of all Break A Leg!
WOW---so awesome. Children?? NOT!!! The actors and staff were great they pulled me into their story.
Wonderful timeActors and singing was great really felt like I was transported into a different time and really felt a part of the story
Wish I could give this place more stars because some of the actors are genuinely amazing people and its really great to have a theater that is geared towards introducing young kids to live theater. However, they have employeed someone who has molested someone I know, and that is not ok. You would think that they wouldnt hire someone like that in a place that has a bunch of children, but apparently friendship is more important than safety. I highly enjoyed seeing some of their shows, but after hearing about this incident, I am not inclined to give my money to a place that does not have the intergrity to employee someone better.
‘‘Twas the night before Christmas” great acting and singing !! Loved the it !
Great theater, just wish Spokane Childrens Theater didnt cast adults, taking away from children who would like to grow & perform.
A local community theater here in Spokane for over a 100 years. Kids do everything from from stage crew to performing. What a cool way for kids to express themselves in a positive way. It is small (no wheelchair access), but I give it 5 stars for being all about letting kids explore theatre arts. I think it is volunteer based, and nonprofit. The December show Annie was great and only $12 a ticket.
I was a little skeptical at first after pulling up to the building but the cast did a great job. Definitely community theatre but everyone was kind and put their whole heart into it. Cute story line too.
Arabian Nights was a wonderful production! Beginning to end it draws you in and unleashes your imagination! Well done!!! Leg...Broke! Lol
Great experience each performance is amazing
Saw Beauty and the Beast with our granddaughter, excellent production. Love local community theatres. There love of what they are doing shines through !
Delightful as always. Come support local children as they put on the most entertaining plays.
This was super fun show for Halloween
Have been taking my granddaughter to plays for about 6 years. We both enjoy them! Adult and very talented child actors in each play. Nice auditorium. Well done costumes and scenery.
Great venue and production quality. A fun local program.
Great place the acting is great, and so are the people!
Fun shows that are great for kids. Wonderful people. Two years of season tickets and already have them for next year. So great.
Terrific drama program. Very impressed!
This is the best experience I have ever had. I am shy and get intimidated easily. but I tried out for Robin Hood and got a part!!! everyone made me feel like the whole cast is one big family. it is a great experience for the whole family.
Great theater - very kid friendly. The shows are adorable.
The performers emanate so much joy and talent, and the SCT is a very cozy, intimate venue.
We went to Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. What a great job they did. Very well performed. Doug, the guy that helped us with out tickets was great to work with. Thanks Doug!
My date and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. The acting and sing was amazing. The staff at the ticket booth and concession were warm and friendly. Over all it was a lovely night.
Good show great to see kids working together for a fun show
Saw The Happy Elf great show! Wonderful group of people!
I absolutely love this place! I went in to audition, having just gotten back from leaving in Seattle for a few years. Everyone was so welcoming and worked so hard. The audition lasted a few hours, and the director put a huge deal of thought into the casting. I ended up getting the role I auditioned for, one of the more major roles, the first time I auditioned for a play with them! Unfortunately, not many older guys auditioned, and the director had to go do additional casting outside of the auditions. We ended up with an almost entirely brand new cast of really talented people from all over. Its unfortunate that more people dont come to see the shows, because the acting and set making is so good. I ended up working with actors that also do productions with Civic Theatre, Ignite, and many more local theatres! Definitely the place for anyone who has a spare evening or are looking for family friendly entertainment.
Fun plays for a good price. It is a Small theater so, most all the seat are good. You cant go wrong!
Nice small theater, very good productions with local talent.
We love this place. Good way to get kids into the arts without breaking the bank. Season tickect holders
Amazing price and production for a nonprofit organization. I can take my family of 5, purchase cookies, water, and a raffle ticket for the price of one ticket at other shows. Thanks SCT!
A really great experience -- good sets and music, a comfortable theater, and a show that held my 3 year olds attention the whole way through! Great to see them giving so many young people roles in the cast: Im sure well be back.
My 6 yr old son and I saw Annie. What a wonderful performance. We will definitely be back!
Such a fun experience. Kids seem to be having a great time and you can do neat things like send notes to the cast during intermission.
Its fun to go watch my dad perform. The people there are so nice!!
So much effort and heart in this place!! The plays are fantastic. The tickets are very affordable and its just an all around enjoyable family experience.
It is a very good place for children if they happen to like theater.
The wind in the Willow was a great show!
The best childrens theatre in the NW! The kids take real pride in the theatre and the shows. I recommend going.
I have done a few shows at the children’s theater and it is amazing so much fun and all of the directors are awesome
Absolutely a great time! These shows are a fantastic family treat
Good place for kid to learn how to dance, trust me it keeps them busy and motivated.
Fantastic performance. We will go again
Fantastic show, well managed venue. Great asset ft Spokane and for our kids, of all sizes!
My daughter loves the shows here.
Saw a cute holiday play! You should go!
I do shows here and I work here all the time it’s such an amazing place
The First play I saw there was Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in Febuary, 2nd 2018 with my Aunt susie. I was not really sure about of how this would turn out, If it would be Good as Christian Youth Theater at the Bing Crosby theater or Just really some run-down theater with Lackluster Kid performers. But When I Saw the Musical play, Holy HECK!!! IT WAS FUN AND WONDERFUL!!! What they did with the stage was very Creative and They were Surprisingly Professional. The Host who did the Winner of the Tickets was such a blast! The Stage maybe low, But the effort, love and Creativity and good Acting was just such fun and I was very surprised of how great it was. I love the good mixture of the Adult actors and Kid actors. The Musical play, Joseph and the Amazing technicolor Dreamcoat is now one of my Aunt Susies Favorite Musicals. I now consider Spokane Childrens Theater to be a Great musical theater like Christian Youth theater in Spokane, INB Performing arts Center and Couer Dalene Summer theater. I am a huge Andrew Lloyd webber fan and I was not disappointed by the play one bit. I Hope to see some more musical plays at the Spokane Childrens Theater.Top 3 Greatest musical play performances I saw there:3. Oliver!2. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat1. Disneys Beauty and the Beast
Was a great first experience. I hope to go back again someday
We love the productions at the SCT. Each and every one is entertaining and also a great family evening!
Wonderful kid theatre. Good family time and fair prices.
So happy to have stumbled upon this long-standing Spokane treasure!
I have been in a show and its a great experience for the whole family. It definitely makes you want to come back.
Wonderful family-friendly productions of local talent young and old!!!
Don’t bother with this pathetic excuse for a Children’s Theatre. They only cast family and friends and “platinum donors”!!They make you believe that everyone has a fair shot, but the truth is they have already cast several of the roles ahead of time with people they are friends/family with!Case in point: I went undercover to test this theory (based on information relayed to me from the past several auditions that others went through) at the last round of “auditions” for their upcoming “The Little Mermaid” production. In the two days that I sat, incognito, among stage moms and bored dads on IPhones, not a SINGLE boy over 15ish NOR a single MAN auditioned, YET they filled all the boy roles, including King Triton and Prince Eric. How is that possible? They had already cast these roles BEFORE auditions with friends/family. As well I have it under good advisement that they asked several of the veterans of the theatre to come and audition to make it look like others had a chance to participate in their productions, but of course this is untrue, because the roles were already filled by those invited veterans.Do NOT donate any of your hard earned money to them! They’ll take it, happily of course, because they need it desperately. They lost their rental space at the civic theatre due to financial woes, were forced to create a “theatre” at a strip mall and are still struggling! The money is lining their pockets. Wake up SCT - you’re struggling because people are calling your rouse, your bluff. I guarantee the only people that will be in attendance for your next season will be the stage moms/dads, grandparents and those who have been bamboozled into giving their money needlessly to a group that is slowly sinking under and they are in attendance to feel like it was worth at least a seat. For those of you looking for a true theatre experience for yourself, your children or grandchildren, whether to participate on stage or off, or to simply be a spectator, I would urge you to try other local area theaters and groups where they are UNBIASED in their casting and look for talent rather than fulfilling promises to the family and friends.Save your money and put it towards the Spokane Civic Theatre or Symphony or back in your 401k- it’s money better spent!
Enjoyed the show I attended here very much!
