Beautiful place for a relaxed walk or a solid workout! Parking lot could be packed and the trails are still diverse enough that you wouldn’t see another person. All the trails are well marked and easily navigated. Great place to get fresh air and enjoy some quiet!

All and all nice easy hike at 3.7 miles if you stick to the outer hiking trails. No wildlife to speak of besides a few birds and squirrels. Did see remnants of beaver cuttings along gum swamp trail. Can’t figure out what the white vegetation is....

The main section of this park is very well maintained. The trails are sandy and flat, very nice to hike on. However, they do flood and get muddy in wet weather. The other two sections of the park are harder to reach and do not provide most amenities. Overall, the park was very enjoyable and very beautiful.

Beautiful preserve. Lots of trails to hike, and wonderful rangers that answer questions. On our most recent trip, a control burn had been done three days prior. So walking through that was interesting and fascinating. Great for bird watchers. We came across a group and was fun to meet them. Lots of wildlife. The observation windows to watch the birds at the feeders is a great place to rest after walking the trails.

I didnt have a ton of time this morning because the company doing my fence had a cancellation and offered to squeeze me in that time slot. I chose Bowers Bog trail because it is pretty short and very easy. I could hear the sounds of vehicles on the main roads almost the entire walk which isnt too terrible. I didnt see a ton of bog specific flora (pitcher plants, sundew etc) but I did see a bit of spongy moss and a lot of ferns. Overall, it was pleasant.

Really enjoy my time there when I visit my sister. We walk the dog on clearly marked paths. However, the park used to be kept clear of most debris. I did notice that some trees were not cleared from a storm that occurred several weeks back. My sister enquired about it but and was told that they were not moving the debris because of some ruling about natural habitat. Really not cool or bright. With people using the park so much you would think that the current staff would try to maintain park with idea that keeping park walkable would be top priority. Perhaps if no one showed up to walk, they might get the hint.

The kids Discovery Room is worth the drive if you have small children. All kinds of crawl spaces and interesting tactile things. The lookout on the bird feeders would be fantastic in winter. At high summer, no birds were visiting, of course. The woods are typical pine barrens, with more ground foliage than normal, probably due to tended burns. Quite attractive. The easy trails were okay but very rooty, and I wished I brought a hiking stick with me at a steep point. My only criticism is theres both too much civilization visible for true immersion in a woodsy feel, and too little--if you have service roads and prominent signs everywhere, why not put a port-a-potty in the middle of the park?

This is an excellent example of well-maintained Longleaf pine ecosystem, beautiful over story with very little mid-story an excellent understory. If you are interested in learning about the Longleaf ecosystem or the woods around the area and excellent place to come visit and talk to the Rangers or a person behind the front desk. You can also learn about prescribed fire and the important role it plays in maintaining this ecosystem.

Weymouth Woods is beautiful and the trails are great, but the science center is the BEST because its never crowded and its one of the only places around here that is open before 9 on Sunday mornings! Like my kids know Sunday is for sleeping, ha . . .There are puzzles, games, puppets, a cave for climbing and hiding in, birdwatching, and tons of other activities. This place is one of the first we recommend to friends who move here!

An easy, relatively even hike through a peaceful pine forest on very well marked trails. Suitable for kids/pets with only some tree roots on the trail to walk over. There was some road noise in a few places, as well as a few train whistles during my hike. You can tailor the distance of your hike by selecting different loops of the trail. The outermost loop being around 5 miles. The visitor center had plenty of parking as well as very clean public restrooms. Center staff and park rangers were very helpful and knowledgeable.

The park itself is a little isolated from travelers from Fayetteville and it tends to be a little more peaceful and quiet. The park is beautiful with many opportunities for bird watching. A strong selling point is the Ranger center with lots of fun activities for individuals of all ages, and the learning center for kids where they can watch birds, listen to bird calls, put on a puppet show, and play educational board games. It also features an easy to use microscope and specimens to help them learn about the microscopic world.

We went on the Blue Triangle trail, the woods were pretty but is definitely NOT stroller friendly. We have pretty heavy duty strollers and there were so many roots that were sticking out of the trail that the large wheels couldnt roll over. In fact the last section is almost straight up hill with so many roots its almost like stairs.A great workout for someone without kiddos

Beautiful! The discovery room is clearly intended for children, but offered me lots of wonderful things to experience as well. We wandered through the trails and saw a large number of critters: a lizard, a swimming snake, a toad right on our path, and many birds and insects. The trails are pretty rude see, but clearly well-maintained to remove debris so hikers can have a chance to look around a bit. Im definitely looking forward to visiting again!

Beautiful nature preserve with a very nice lodge. There are a lot of trails to choose from and they are generally well maintained but they would not be good for strollers or runners because there are SO MANY roots to trip or get caught on. My dogs and I came away with a few ticks each but we did a long hike and were on some of the back trails.

El
Review №85

We opted for the easiest trail to start with because it was our first visit, and did a small offshoot (Swamp Gum) to make ourselves work just a little harder, and we arent as nimble or flexible as we once were so the tree roots were a bit daunting. You do have to STOP to look at your surroundings or else youd likely be face planting along the the trail. It is quite pretty and so very quiet. Will definitely be giving it another whirl as it is a good workout and easy enough for two old jalopies like us.

It would be perfect with more sigbs. Literally the first park trails Ive gone to on the passport challenge where there are no signs and then youre guessing going in loops. It would be horrible to be lost in this park trying to find the parking lot as that could take you hours. That and many trails are mixed with horse trails and maintenance roads with no signs on what or where or where the exit is. So youre guessing. So theres also lots of horse excrement everywhere...
