Loves the detailed ornate architecture of the building. It was very palacial and comfortable to be in. There were plenty of places to get snacks and drinks and all the staff was very courteous and speedy. Plenty of bathrooms. Doesnt get 5 stars from me because I think the acoustics may be bad. Saw modest mouse and I couldnt hardly hear anything. Will try it again to see if the bad sound was just that band.
I recently saw the Lion King here and for the most part was very impressed with the theater. Its a beautiful venue and the show was fantastic. My only complaint was that the seats werent the most comfortable with leg room much less than a similar seating section at the Murat theater in downtown Indianapolis. The public parking garage nearby was convenient but be warned if you park on the upper floors, it can take a very long time to get out and next time I would consider parking elsewhere.
Fridays by the fountain outside the Morris is a great time! Whistle Pigs were wonderful as always!
Actually didnt go to Morris, went to Friday at the Fountain. It was great, listened to a very good blues band. Just in front of the Morris, outdoors.
Went to see Lion King, the show was fantastic!! We came in from Fort Wayne and had no issues. Parking was close to the center. Access to the building was very easy. Very clean bathrooms. The stadium was clean, and great seating. Everyone was very kind, and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place and a MUST SEE Lion King! The performers were excellent, had your attention from the very beginning!!
Beautiful theatre! Go early and head downstairs to the lounge with comfortable seating and a full bar. Recently saw Lion King and it was fabulous! We also saw Wicked a few years ago and the production was spectacular accompanied by amazing voices!
I am saddened to give this gorgeous, historical theater only 4 stars as Im a lover of local history and downtown South Bend. I have read through the reviews, wondering if Im not alone with the issues I encountered, and unfortunately Im not. I seen complaints about fees, but I understand convenience fees and Im all for a historic fee as Im for preserving history. I do know Hamiltons towing are always looking to nail someone parking in one of their lots which could turn a great night into a nightmare, but we frequent downtown and know where to park. This is still an issue that needs to be corrected though. The building did have a hole on the ceiling and they had put a net up to catch falling debris which was a little disappointing as it took away from the beauty, but I hope that will be repaired soon out of the historic fees and other donations received. Yes, the seating is tight, but it did not bother us at all. Yes, the drink prices are high, but that was to be expected. I felt the temperature, sound, and lighting was just fine. Now my only complaint is with the ushers. Yes, I understand they are volunteers, but that does not excuse the Morris from their terrible behavior. As the show was beginning to start an announcement was played to take this time to power off your phones as video and photography was prohibited. I am a highly respectful person and had absolutely no problem with this rule. So, I began to look at my phone to figure out how to power it down, not something I do often, and it took me a few seconds, yes just seconds, and I pushed the side button to power it down, which obviously took a few more seconds. The entire time from behind I was being yelled at loudly and embarrassingly by an usher to Put your phone away now! Maam Im not going to tell you again! Maam dont make me call security! with no reprieve in between allowing me time to do so. All the while Im telling her polititley that Im putting my phone away and powering it down as I was informed to do. I do not appreciate being treated so rudely or disrespectfully for following orders. It did not end there sadly. During intermission I went to get in line for the restroom and the line was beginning to wrap. I was the curve in the line. I was beyond shocked when the usher literally put her hand on me and physically moved me at the angle she apparently wanted me. That was highly uncalled for and in hindsight I should have said something, but I didnt want to ruin my night.Volunteers or not, they are there representing your establishment and need to have better customer service skills. I really hope my review will help to improve. It concerns me that if things do not improve this theater will become just another place that used to be around in history as many others.
Went here to see comedian Ali Wong with my man. The opening comedian... (whose name I cant find anywhere) was so funny I was crying while laughing so damn hard. Ali was her classily raunchy self and put on a good show... The venue, beautiful, and our seats were the best in the house! If you havent watched a performance here yet, I would highly recommend switching up your agenda occasionally!
Beautiful place. Great place to have a wedding reception,or other special event. Was very happy with the staff member that went above and beyond his job to show us around,on a day they were technically closed. The renovations are nice as well. Glad to see such a beautiful building still around.
Saw the lion king play. It was amazing. This is the second time we have seen it. The first time was in Cleveland. It was fabulous both times. The costumes, the music and the actors. I would see it again!!!
Our family made memories that will last a lifetime. The Lion King was a great first time experience for my 10 year old to enjoy a musical. It was wonderful.
Such a beautiful theatre, its amazing. Staff was fantastic. Very clean throughout. I was very impressed and cant wait to go back soon! Highly recommend!
Good sound but the lines for beer were very long with only 1 table to purchase it at its ridiculous for 1500 people! Security in the show were extremely rude and constantly telling people to stay directly in front of seat when every person is standing thats impossible if you want to see the stage. If everyone is up and dancing then dont nitpick those who dance in the aisle or next to there isle seat because those folks will move in a second if someone is coming through. They used to let you outside to smoke but since there not allowing that anymore you have those people smoking in the theater and bathrooms and staircase they have made a simple thing a problem.
Modern yet antiquated in design, the Morris is a nice symphonic concert hall for the mid-size city of South Bend.My only critique is that compared to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the hall is a bit small, the balconies more cramped, and the aisles and chairs could use an update for space and comfort.Otherwise, the instrumental sound projection is splendid.
Love this theatre. Have enjoyed previous musicals but Menopause the Musical was the best ever. Havent laughed so much in my entire life.
It was very nice. Seats are comfy. Only thing is their ventilation system must not work right. Kinda smoky in there .
One of the best venues in our area (Michiana) to catch a concert, musical, or other type of performance. We saw Lion King off Broadway and it was amazing (and I use that word lightly)
I’ve been here a few times for shows and each time has been great. Easy parking, many restaurants and bars nearby, and the venue is beautiful. I’ve been lucky enough to have great seats each time and the sound has been phenomenal. I will continue to look for shows here.
Beautiful venue, but the seats were very narrow and uncomfortable (and Im a tiny girl). Not only that, the ushers at last nights Lion King were very rude and unwelcoming. Ive never encountered such a grouchy group of people before. There was a lot of huffing and puffing on their part while they helped guests find their seats. At the entrance, while my husband was trying to figure out which were the tickets (the receipts looked exactly like the tickets, too), the lady quipped, I know what it is if you would just stop moving. Wow.
Beautiful theatre! Wish the best were a little less tight but Ive sat in worse. Very friendly staff
We have seen numerous shows, concerts & bands here! Always impressed by the staffs friendliness. Restrooms are always clean.
I recieved 2 Lion King tickets for Christmas and The Morris out right refused to refund the money to me. Putting refund on original card. Do not buy people tickets as gifts bc if something happens, the Morris will screw them out of their gift!
I have been going here since I was little for all different kinds of shows and enjoy myself every time.
The voices were so Amplified that you could not understand them. You had to guess what was going on as a whole to show was fantastic but you had to guess what they were saying. The worst seats Ive ever had since Ive been going there
The Morris is a lovely old theater. !They accomodate for visitors with handicaps. The ushers are very helpful and friendly. They have a limited bar in the lobby with wine, beer, mixed drinks and bottled soft drinks. We always love to go here
Great employees and atmosphere. The best out of everything was the performance of the Lion King. It was excellent.
Went to see Lion King. Loved it. Nice atmosphere
I’ve always enjoyed the Morris. I’ve been going since the 90s when I was in grade school. Now, my wife and I have season tickets to Broadway Theater League. They do a fantastic job with the South Bend Symphony and different special shows that tour around the country. I’ve seen musicals, brass ensembles, symphony, and music groups at the Morris and it’s never disappointed. Beautiful decor, snacks and popcorn are delicious. They have alcoholic beverages as well and everything is allowed in the theater itself. Great place to see a show and the restaurants within walking distance are great as well!
Always a great performance. My family loves coming here. Affordable.
Had a great time!! We love Chris and martin.always friendly staff,Wendy is always such a pleasant person to work with on tickets.
Loved Pink Floyd group I went to see. Good Acoustics inside
This theater is gorgeous. I love the decor and I have a great time whenever I attend.
Nice local theatre. Parking garages are close. Charged $5 for Sesame Street Live, expect similar rates for other events held here
Beautiful decor. Comfortable seats. Great view of stage. Horrible concession prices!!!
Beautifully restored! Always enjoy going to events here. Nice drink and snack services.
Sound is good. No bad seats. Helpful staff.
Saw Wild Kratts Live for my sons birthday. I am never disappointed when I come to the Morris
I love the Morris Performing Arts Center! They have such a great stage for the productions and performances there. Its beautiful on the inside. The only complaint I would say is that seats to far on either side have sections of the stage that are not visible. But sit toward the middle and enjoy!
Nice venue. The seats are comfy, the bathrooms are clean, and the staff is friendly. We went to a rock concert and sat in the back row. The view was still good, however, the mix was muddy and it was impossible to pick out the vocalist. Im not sure if that was the sound technicians fault or the acoustics of the auditorium. We still had a good time and are looking forward to going back for their orchestral series.
The shows here are great and the staff is amazing they do everything they can to get you to your seat in a timely manner. Purchasing your tickets is extremely easy whether it be online or in person. Just make sure you get there early because theres usually a line. There is a parking garage right around the corner also
We went to the Morris from Chesterton, IN to see the Underwater Bubble Show. First time at the theater and it was great. Parking was no problem, the theater was clean, friendly helpers with seating, bathrooms were clean and the show was great. It took a little while to get out of the hotel parking garage across the street due to a gate not working, but even that was quickly addressed and a staff member from the hotel or garage got things moving quickly. Cant wait to go back, wonderful experience.
It was amazing. Just saw the Lion King. They did an amazing job!
Such a beautiful theater. And the view of the stage is decent from pretty much anywhere.
We enjoyed the show, thought our seats were just fine (Mezzanine balcony) and thought the sound system was excellent. We could easily understand everything.
Wonderful always good always helpful days consistent perfect place to see a show of any kind
I love this place. Its an amazing venue and weve seen dozens of shows, of all kinds, there over the years. Theres not a bad seat, but some are definitely better than others. Concert? Dont sit under the balcony. Broadway show? First balcony, take in the whole scope of the scenery & props. Kids show? Well... Good luck, its not the venues fault. Speaking, presentation? Try and get in the main section. Anyway, try not to sit in the very back, very top. Enjoy the show.
Went with friends to see Beautiful, which was AWESOME!! As always the Morris Performing Arts Center was a great experience, gorgeous surroundings with professional staff! Always a great venue.
The Nutcracker performance was amazing!
Love this vebue Bob rocked the house
This is a beautiful theater! I have been there for a concert and a ballet both were excellent!
There are no bad seats here. Great acoustics. Great sight lines.
The show was great, the people at the theater and around the parking lots were rude and one guy was asking for money. people in the audience were making fun of other patrons i felt like I was back in high school !The theater is beautiful but the neighborhood is a dump.I didnt feel safe.
Its so beautiful inside, they dont make buildings like this anymore.
Fun with friends. Menopause the musical was so much fun
The Wyonna concert
My daughter treated me to a Mother, Daughter day, so she took me to see Les Miserables at Morris Performance Center. I had a great time. The show was amazing and the seats were comfortable! I would definitely go there again!
Went to see the puppet guy, Jeff Dunham, with my family. Very nice venue, parking is in a parking garage well within walking distance. The area has lots of bars and restaurants for your pleasure. I would go here again.
Wonderful venue for theatre. I love how they moved their bar area into the ballroom. Great decision by management. Keeps the halls less congested. Love this place. No need for Broadway, NY when you have this beautiful place.
WOW! Awesome experience. Beautiful place. The sound was really something special. We would definitely attend another event there!
Easy to get to, no bad seats, ushers are very pleasant, easy parking
Excellent time at Fridays by the Fountain! Great music, food trucks, shade for hot summer days, and room to dance if you are so inclined! Parking close by and nice walk to the venue.
Beautiful historical building with great seats everywhere. Our complaints are with parking & drink prices. Parking is very limited, poorly lit & difficult to access with no consideration for the handicapped or elderly. The price of refreshments is absolute gouging!! They should be ashamed to charge so much for small drinks!!! Thats actually enough to keep us from returning... unless its a REALLY GOOD show & we skip the drinks altogether.
The only bad thing is lack of nearby handicapped parking.
Cool show, was a little chilly inside but hey maybe its regulated for the crowd
First time here. Beautiful old theatre. Excellent venue. Easy to get to !!!
Kratt brothers were awesome! The staff was super awesome for helping us while we were there.
We had a great time going to a Straight No Chaser concert at the Morris. We had great seats and we were able to see and hear well. The facility is nice and has clean restrooms. The ceiling looked like it was undergoing repairs but it was not distracting. We found free parking in a parking garage about 2 blocks south of the theater on Michigan St. What a wonderful experience.
I have been to the Morris twice now and have had two different experiences. Both were good but not without some body distortion on the second visit. So I will say that if you are a larger human being like myself, do not sit in the upper level. Leg room is minimal. I’m 6’1” and couldn’t sit without my legs to either side of the seat in front of me. I have sat on the main level with no issues. The atmosphere is phenomenal at the Morris. Both of my visits were enjoyable and I will keep going back to see shows there.
Great show & the staff were all very polite & helpful. Thank you for a great experience!
This place is beautiful. Went to buy tickets and the staff at the box office were very nice. Cant wait for my show date to enjoy the rest of the experience....the rest of the experience. Saw Mannheim Steamroller. Its really spectacular. Sound and lighting was really good. Seats might be a little tight.
Sesame Street live was fun. My kids loved it
Such a gorgeous interior, not the biggest, yet has great acoustics. Always a good time.
Great Rocco style venue. Has both an upstairs and downstairs. Couldnt find any drinking fountians, but other than that, a bright and beautiful venue.
Absolutely love going to all of their plays and the cast is amazing performers as well
Great seats--- great show!
Great Phantom production! Its a very nice theatre.
I love going to the Morris. My only complaint is you have NO leg room. Im not talk at all and my knees always manage to touch the back of the seat in front of me
Always a good visit, good staff, decent venue, draws variety of acts
Awesome place to see any venue, not a bad seat in the house!
Beautiful theater. Good seats, could use more bathrooms closer to the seating areas.
Great, restored venue. Could have been a bit cooler inside.
Ive seen many types of shows here. Always a good time. They host a variety, from Broadway to rock bands to comedy. It is always clean and is in good condition.
Excellent venue and very good quality entertainment.
Loved it. Parking garage 1/2 block away. Beautiful facility... Almost 100 years old. We saw a traveling Broadway musical.
