3rd time here, love playing here, some challenges

Chris McDonald is the teaching pro here. He has worked with me on my game for several weeks now. I am playing the best I have in several years and I believe I will continue to improve based on his instruction. If you are looking for an excellent instructor, old school style, I highly recommend Chris.

Friendly staff. Greens not great but ok for the money. Pace of play very good. Finished round in just under 3 hrs.

Played in a charity golf event today. Course is in great condition. Look forward to coming back soon to play a round.

Great golf course greens and fairways in excellent shape. Played sat.9th and sun.10th.Golf in better shape than the courses around Pinehurst where I live at.

This is a great old school golf course. The greens are really coming around this spring. You can tell the groundskeeper and crew are on top of their game. Friendly atmosphere that exceeds the cost of play.

Its a fun course to play. Though not much water/sand hazards, the fairway is narrow which demands your swings more accurate. Green was just aerated when we played there so its quite slow and unpredictable.

Nice course, very friendly staff and members. It played really long because of rain the night before, but I will be back. Its a good challenge.

Played this course for the first time about a month ago and the course is really nice. Nice layout, greens and fairways. There was only one problem and that was with the club pro. He approached us about pace of play when there was no one is sight behind us which was irritating and of course I let him know that. He did apologize and offered us a free round, but his comment should have never been voiced. May play it again.

Had the pleasure of playing 36 holes at CCJC yesterday. The course is in amazing condition from tee to green! The fairways are lush and the greens are perfect. With plenty of elevation changes, a layout thats challenging from any tee box, and excellent customer service, you are missing out on a great opportunity if you havent made the short trip to Johnston County. Try it, youll love it!

I was not very impressed with this golf course. There was a woman in the golf shop when we walked in she was very friendly. But the 2 men that worked there were not real friendly. And to top it all off, I have an 8 year old son that plays golf and they charged full price for him to play. I have never taken my 8 year old to any golf course and they charge him to play golf. I could understand maybe charging us green fees for him, but they charged us as if he was an adult. We will never go back to this course.

It was in good shape and as always people were friendly.

This club has a rich history, nestled beside Holt Lake where Ava Gardner and Frank Sinatra once swam...the golf course is beautiful, with forgiving fairways, and lush surrounding woods...with pool and tennis courts and a lovely event area, u truely feel like u have gone back in time, like a true COUNTRY club!!

This is a very nice golf course with a solid design that is well maintained by the staff. The monthly dues are very reasonable for this level of course, and the staff and members are friendly and helpful. I particularly like the unlimited use of the driving range (which I need to use more!) and the option to include all cart fees for only $25/month. While the course is not exceptionally long, it is long enough to be challenging for players of all skill levels. It also presents a number of holes that demand very precise shots from both the tee and the fairway, so you shot makers wont be disappointed!

I enjoy being a member of the Country Club. My wife and I have been members since 1968. My children grew up as members of the Club and we still talk about the memories created here. I enjoy the special dinners and Sunday buffets. Some times I like to get on the free carts included in the dues, and watch other golfers play. The free carts are wonderful for an older player like myself because I can play 9 and finish up for the day. I enjoy sitting around the pool, swimming a little, and eating snacks poolside. The driving range is also a wonderful part of the membership as I can work on my game. I urge you to take advantage of all CCJC has to offer.

I played this course yesterday with three friends, I thought for the price and condition the course is an excellent value. Greens are in excellent condition. The staff is also very helpful as well

This is one of the worst courses I have ever played. The condition of the course was atrocious, it was essentially a mud field, with the tee boxes being sand, the greens themselves were not the worst but as an overall facility I would never play here again nor recommend. Unless this course makes a complete 180 during the spring and summer months I have no idea how people rate this a good course. That of course depends on if the people reviewing know what a good course looks like. 4.7 rating more like 1.7.

I enjoy practice and play at the golf course. Good to see they are working to maintain the greens.

This course is truly awesome! Lots of history out here. You will love the challenge and the scenery of Holt Lake and this mature golf course. Their prices are really good too since they opened up to public.

After being a member at Brentwood CC in Nashville TN, and visiting others around the country with friends and family, this was the most unfriendly, unkept, and rudely staffed facility yet. Dont bother!

Used to play here all the time and it was always in great condition, but now this place is better served to be a goat ranch than golf course. It is very obvious there is no money being spent on this course to maintain it despite this being the home course for Neil Lancaster, PGA Pro and now playing on the Senior PGA tour. I would no longer recommend this course to anyone even if it were free to play.

My dad and mom played here last Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) and had a wonderful time. They found the condition of the course to be outstanding. This is coming from my dad who is a past president of the Carolinas PGA Section, and past PGA board member. We have played across the country, the UK and Europe. The Country Club of Johnston County in no way resembles what the one poor reviewer states. In fact, I would recommend those in the area who want an enjoyable round of golf to go play here and see how good the conditions are for these early warm days of winter.

We love coming out to the country club the guys in the shop are great and the course is pure right now. Cant wait to come back!

Designed by Ellis Maples this is an excellent test of golf. Bring all 14 clubs youll need them all!
