Very good source of history and displays. Well worth a visit. Guided tours of the up stairs rooms are operated at fixed times. Down stairs displays are free and accessible all day.
Very historic, and underappreciated. Please go see it and take the upstairs tour. National Park Service, free to everyone.
Must see site in Sitka. Built in 1843 for Bishop innocent of the Russian Orthodox Church. Finnish shipwrights used mostly old growth Sitka spruce lumber building B.H. Completly restored in 1975. A lot of artifacts in B.H.
History of orthodox church in America is fascinating!
Beautiful. Sometimes the weather doesnt want to cooperate but in any case Sitka is a great town to visit and they have lots of historic buildings. I didnt know that Russia signed over Alaska in Sitka. It was the Russian capitol of Alaska before they sold it to the United States! Pretty cool history...im glad it is a U.S. state.
A nice town to visit. A very senic area.
Quaint museum run by the National Park Service. Provides a glimpse of everyday life in the Russian Bishops House, like the original kitchen used, as well as information on Sitka while under Russian rule. The first floor is free admission and you would be able to see everything in about an hour. The Park Rangers provide scheduled tours of the second floor every few hours, but you have to sign up in advance.
A great place to tour while visiting Sitka.
Small, but free to walk through. Interesting artifacts from Alaskas Russian history. The park rangers were all friendly and accommodating.
Had a very informative tour
The history is facinating
Very old. Worth looking at
Cool stop when walking through town. Free for the first floor, which still is worth the stop in.
Great!
